I came this close to making you battle a Swilsbear on the way back to Eubric. But I figured that would be overdoing it. Besides, I gave you that Pongcanis Tongue. (this was before you did the table smashing thing and I decided to give you the Chunk of Lucky Table)

Maybe we'll have the chance to see the yet-elusive Swilsbear in a RotJ-Rancor-esque setting further down the plotline. Surely, there's room for future heroes to make a mistake and wind up in such a situation, hm?

That table really was lucky, though, I swear it. Haven't had rolls that good since early on in the quest, heh.

I'd prefer to keep the Swilsbear separate from this particular storyline. The Ewok, Pongcanis Tongue, and Lucky Table were all fun little things, but the Swilsbear could only be done justice as a Quest boss. Something to think about once I finish this story. (which, right now, is looking to be a trilogy)

Oh, well hmph :hmpf_bad:, what reason do I have to continue following along with the storyline if not for a monster of my own namesake?

Pausing, swils recalls the last two months of questing, and reconsiders:

Err, right, just what sort of rubbish was I thinking a moment ago? How silly of me!

I did really enjoy how you included a bunch of little easter-eggs and such, breaking the fourth wall, so to speak. Not to say other QM's haven't, but, having been a part of this quest, I feel qualified to comment on them directly. It helped to break up the feeling of being on a relatively strict plotline, having little deviations based upon what was going on/being said amongst the players.

I would love to become a Quest Host, I was really inspired by Brickdoctor's Quest #4.

Are there any procedures for signing up to be a quest host? Should I be working on the details of the quest, and then when I finish I show it to somebody and then I am approved?

I'm pretty sure you have to have a plan for the Quest, the MOCs made, and some of the pictures taken before you contact Sandy to start a Quest. You also have to have at least one Quest as a Hero under your belt, so you know how your players would react to certain types of situations. I will probably be making a Quest as soon as the one I'm participating in is finished. And may I ask how long Quest #13 will be going on for? I really want to at least try for Quest #17. But, if Rumble Strike has a lot more ground to cover in Quest #13, I'm all for that. :sweet:

Hey Wife of Darth.

I have already participated in Quest #4.

I'll get to work on it!

I hope to be done in about 4 weeks so you probably won't make the signups for Quest#17.

'Kay, that's fine. If it is a trilogy, I might be able to make the sign-ups for the third one in Brickdoctor's series. :sweet:

Watching Quest #4 from the sidelines, I have to congratulate you on a job well done, Doc. While it was pretty long, in retrospect the amount of loot, experience, and character and story building were worth it. You did an excellent job in planning it all out, and the MOCs and pics were fantastic. I really enjoyed following the thread.

I look forward to another one of your quests, Doc. Though, maybe it could be a wee bit shorter? I can imagine it would be pretty difficult to commit to something like that for such a long time.

I do plan to try. I really didn't expect it to run so long. The Nights concept really slowed things down, but at the same time, the heroes got a reward and loot comparable to what they might get in two Quests. The next two parts of the trilogy should be shorter (spoiler: in Quest 17, the heroes will probably stay in or around Bric'Bay Fort for the entire Quest), and then after that, I'll probably take a break and then consider hosting another epic. (planning to buy about a dozen Forestmen off BL eventually for Avalonia Guild anyways, so that's something to start from)

Quest Title: Let's Start a Riot

Assignment: We have tracked down Lady Wren since we last met in the Arena, and we need your help! She has enslaved a village and they are "creating" chaos each day. It has become a Chaos factory. We must travel to the village, meet with different rebel groups, unify them, and then stop Wren. Failure is not an option. You know her evil. She must be stopped. -Felton & Hans

Party Requirements: A team of six is required. Teamwork will be important. Likewise, diplomacy and sneaking will be required. Rouges and Knights will be needed. All above level five would be preferred. If any of our friends from the Arena would like to join us, we would much appreciate your help.

Reward: Satisfaction of saving a people. The Rebels are poor. <And lots of other cool stuff, don't worry, trust your QM, it will be WELL worth your time  .>

Length: Approximately a month and a half long. About the length of my last quest, but no one will sit out, and the pace will be WAY quicker.

I just finalized everything tonight, now pictures just need to be taken. I'm really excited about this quest guys!!! Lots of options, lots of choices. A few different boss battle options depending on choices. Sign-ups still from the 26th-3rd.

Okay feedback time for me. I think that overall the quest went fairly well. I now know that I need to pay close attention while posting battles, and not to bring along so many mages! (That was an accident on my part) I think you noticed that I left the end open for a part two.

Not a bad quest at all, I enjoyed the battles and the interplay between some of the heroes. A few suggestions: don't worry about taking time to develop your story, the initial objective was to eliminate the trespassing poachers, then all of the sudden we're trying to save some centaur who is of such vital importance that we will fail the quest should she be killed. A little more dialog and explanation would have helped to bring things into a more coherent whole, maybe some more chances for interaction or dialog with the NPC's or maybe some puzzles would have helped make it seem more than a race from one battle to the next. Don't get me wrong, I like battles as much as the next guy, but I enjoy a good story and some thinking challenges as well. Overall however, good job  Thanks for letting me play and I'm interested to see what your next addition will bring.

I have the exact same sentiments. Although fun, it seemed very battle centered

PLANNING THE QUEST

The first thing you need is an idea for a quest. There are no restrictions to what type of a quest you can create. Most importantly there should be one main goal that the players must achieve in order to complete the quest. There can be several side missions included as well. It can have nothing but battles or no battles at all. It can include fetching, finding or gathering items. It can last a week or span several months.

Maybe along with an estimated quest length added to quest proposals, QMs could add type of quest. If battle-centric, Combat quest type. If riddles involved, Mystery etc. If quest has it all, list multiple types.

I wouldn't add a 'type' of quest tot the pitch. It kinda takes away some of the fun/surprise when you know what you're in for beforehand.

It could just be optional? I do think it would be relevent information when signing up for Quests. Not everyone's characters are the same and their motivations for the type of quest may be different. Tarn is polite and talks well for a Barbarian, but he didn't solve a single puzzle in Quest#11.

It is an interesting idea, I personally agree with Khorne that it is kind of funner to not know exactly what kind of quest it is.

I agree. I think most quests would end up being a mix of all the "types" anyway. I think length is important because that really affects the heroes. JimBee has said he wouldn't want to go on a quest as long as Quest 4 because I think he wants to catch a lot of quests, where I would love it because I like longer stories and time for characters to really interact. But since all quests would probably cover all types, there's not a need for that. Just my 2 cents on the two new ideas.

Not that I wouldn't want to go on a quest that long, I would just take shorter ones over longer ones, mainly because, as you said, I would want to experience many different QMs and Quests. :classic:

I agree too. Having been on Quest 4, I liked it, but it went on a bit too long.

That was a cool Quest, Jebediahs. The NPCs and their stories/personalities were especially interesting to see. The only thing I dislike is all the special items. You had 5 artifacts and 3 or 4 unique ability weapons, which personally I think is a little too many. (Although I can't deny I'd kill for those daggers. :grin_wub: )

I also applaud you on your builds. The photography wasn't great, but the builds themselves were what drew the attention. I really liked Antia's build myself. The non-battle challenges were also a nice detail.
