Damn straight. As the first QM, you generally get to make up the rules for that area. It's then polite for all the following QMs to honor your choices. The same goes with species or NPC creation. Not ONE person so far has purposely undone something someone else has done - once something is established, everyone else in the game has respected it. I think it's one of if not the best part of the game and the community surrounding it.

I think this might be the last major fig barf I need to do before hosting my next quest:

Yes, I only have one pair of Slave Leia legs. No, I'm not going to go and buy extra half-naked legs for this quest. So the grunts get leather leg armor, or something. (And a long sleeve tunic, if you can tell that three of them have tan arms instead of flesh. My fleshie collection isn't that big; I prefer the yellow 'figs.)

Does this upcoming quest of yours have anything to do with Mopag? :look:

I sincerely hope that there isn't another species in Heroica cursed with the TCW faces. Yes, the Mopag are involved.

Ah, that first figure with the slave Leia legs and the beard was something I did not need to see.:tongue:

Anyways, are these going to do with the blue figs you posted before? (I'm assuming yes.) I can't wait for this quest! :classic:

He's been around since Quest 4. :look:

Yes, all these fig barfs are involved in the same quest.

Please, please please take Boomingham. I so badly want him to go to war, and this looks like its going to be the standard BD war-like affair.

Sort of. More like Quest 4, a prelude to an ongoing conflict.

Then maybe I should wait until the next one? Though I've never actually been part of a story arch before, only hosted them. I think it would be a good experience!

I don't know when the next one after this will be. With any luck it should be right after this one, but I might be more busy this fall, and I don't know how long this one will take. (It's a Brickdoctor quest, I assume it'll be longer than planned.)

Come on! We were only talking about our ideas about how the Low Kingdoms differed from High Kingdoms. It doesn't mean you can't have any ideas of your own. Nothing has been set to stone, so far.

Since you were the first QM to venture there, you get dibs on building the scenery. I have at least one quest that I've planned into a Low Kingdom, but I don't have any special architectural type in my mind...

Going with pseudo-medieval fantasy architecture is always the safest choice in this game, though.

Thanks for the advice. I was just trying to make sure my portrayal wasn't overwriting a pre-established thing that I didn't know about (a few Heroes have mentioned the Low Kingdoms in there backgrounds, Ellaria included, after-all) I'm pretty set on what I'm planning to do now, and I've already shown Sandy the map, which he's OKed. Sandy, I'll definitely get you the Quest Proposal today, but maybe not by the end of your Finland day... I've got a few hours more than you in the afternoon.

Here's a few more figbarfs for funzies.

Not appearing in my next quest, but when CMF Series 2 first came out, I bought six Spartans and only opened two. Since I wanted to have more Mopags in this next quest (and because I'd never sell the MISB Spartans anyways), I opened the other four, which meant I now had the pieces for:

figBarf_LionSkirmishers_zpsf91d7663.jpg

This is as many Skirmishers as I can build -- I now happen to have exactly six Lion torsos, exactly six large Lion shields, exactly six short swords, and exactly six dark pearl grey spears. I didn't realize until now how hard the dark pearl grey spears are to get compared to the brown ones. The dark pearl grey ones came out first, but ever since all the other sets have only included the brown ones. (Which I suppose are more realistic.*)

These will definitely appear in a future quest, though.

*The Lion pikemen who appeared in the last three quests are the traditional medieval grunts, so they have the spears with wooden shafts. I imagine the Lion Skirmishers as more of a Legionary/marine-type, all-purpose soldier which doesn't necessarily need to be supported by the typical medieval archers and cavalry. So the Skirmishers have the halberds with the metal (or at least metal-braced) shafts, and they also carry the short swords while the pikemen don't.

Is that the female at the inn in Endgame's quest? :poke:

I love those mercenaries.

I don't know... Is it? Would that NPC happen to be named Miss Pigeon, a magically inclined business woman who wields an ivory cane and wears a bowler hat drinking her troubles away in a bar?

Thanks, I should have one more, and if I can find anymore Black Knights, I'll jump on the opportunity to keep adding. They're gorgeous.

Looks like Female Vetenari and Drumknott .

I'll admit, I've never read Diskworld, but I do know what Vetenari basically is, and I like the comparison.

Quest 71 Overview

This quest I feel was slightly flawed, and for a few reasons. I had originally intended to have the three new players on the quest, but it seems that my plan fell through, so the fights might have been a little easy. The first fight was to see what you guys could do, and what damage you could deal, which turned out to be a lot. The Shadow Sister's fight was meant to be an example of a Swat Team, very similar to the party, assisting each other and working as a team, which was ruined by the fact that few specials were rolled and there were no spell casters who could dish out darkness elemental damage, so there passive was a waste of text. The Troll fight was a grind, it seems, as I had intended it to be a rough and dirty fight, with the troll binding a target then smashing the party's health for those unlucky enough to be in the front row, or in other words, the heavy hitters.

That being said, the characters made up for the lacking battles and the somewhat cheated puzzle. The party interactions were fun to watch, and I'm somewhat glad the party knew each other. It made for an interesting dynamic, especially when Arryana rolled in. The Shadow Sister interactions were fun to watch pan out, and I'm glad Irene's character got fleshed out, thanks to you guys. I plan to do a lot with the Shadow Sisters, so keep an eye out for them. Abbot was fun to roleplay, and his interactions with the party during the first half were great!

Players:

Johon: You were an excellent team leader, and a great addition to the team! I'm glad we wrapped this up before you left, since the ending was meant to be a twist. Your interactions with the NPCs were stellar, especially with Irene. Also, your decision to bring Arryana along was an interesting choice, and while it did break the quest from being one big puzzle into a series of fights, did help us in the long run. All in all, excellent job!

Elgar: You were active, you participated in roleplay, all in all, an excellent addition to the team! Your decision at first to hand the trio of Wolfgang thugs over was interesting, and I'm glad the distrust carried over through most of the quest. That and the fact you acknowledged your inability to heal your party mates was a wonderful touch during the Shadow Sister fight. You were a blast to host, well done!

Alexandre: What a jerk! Alex certainly is an interesting character, and a black knight certainly made the group dynamic that much more interesting! The fact you stole everything that the Shadow Sisters were supposed to drop still surprises me, and the amount of Shields and Critical Hits you rolled will probably be the stuff of legend. No matter, you were an excellent addition to the team, and I'm glad you were aboard, and I hope to host you again!

All in all, I'm glad I had you aboard, I hope you enjoyed the loot, and I hope to host you again!

References:

-Abbot's remarks during the beginning about a blue box with a flashing light on it refers to the Tardis from Dr. Who. His other remark about neon coloured horses should be easy to figure out.

-The Shadow Sisters' are a reference to the Shadow Sirens from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, with Irene being Vivian, Maude being Beldam, and Helga being Marilyn.

-Maude's remark about being the "Great and Powerful Shadow Sisters" is a reference to Trixie from MLP:FIM, who calls herself the "Great and Powerful Trixie!!"

-The troll's specials were all inspired by Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.

-The whole arc is a reference to The Thousand Year Door.

-The items dropped by the troll are all video game references. The Zap-Tap Badge appears in the Paper Mario franchise, and the Stalker's Mallet is Amy Rose's Pico-Pico Hammer from Sonic the Hedgehog.

-Abbot's name is a play on "Abbot and Costello". Where's his brother you might ask? You'll have to wait and see...

Next up is either Grim Grinning Ghosts 2, or part 2 of the Haerasias's vault arc: "Break My Brother Out!"

Great quest! I liked that it was short and sweet. Too long quests I find seem to lose interest and it becomes painful to be on 1 quest for ever when there are new ones in the Hall. You were a great host. My only critique is the battle calculations. There were few mistakes, but some could be easier to catch if you showed the work more. (example: instead of saying 33 damage, try to do more of 10+23=33 etc.)
