tj19941994 Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Hi everyone, this is my first time posting in this part of the forum! I just bought some sculpey bake and bend off of ebay, and while I wait for it I thought I'd ask; do you think it will work well for custom hair pieces? I thought the standard sculpey may be too fragile, though I have had no experience with it, and thought that the bendable one would more closely resemble the sort of large exo-force material, which is more suitable for the large hairpiece I am making (pigtails) Quote
lakuda Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Use green stuff or Milliput, they doesn't shrink and they are more solid (no baking). Quote

I was going to keep the element in the piece, with a layer of foil on it to stop the two melting together to stop it shrinking, I was also under the impression I could boil sculpey. Quote

I don't have much experience with sculpey, but boiling didn't work so good for me. Leaving it in my car in the middle of summer did though. Anyway, from my work with action figures, make sure the plastic does not touch the pot as that can cause melting. Use a ladel/strainer thingy (sorry not sure what to call it). Quote
