Kadabra Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Arasmyth steps forward and examines the odd sticks.
Waterbrick Down Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 (edited) "Hold Arasmyth! Don't take another step, if you can, use some magic to investigate, but I sense a possible trap ahead." Skrall inspected the foliage above him, firing off a bolt to ensure nothing lurked in the tree tops. Edited October 19, 2011 by Waterbrick Down
Quarryman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 "Odd sticks, eh? Should we perhaps cast a spell at them and see what happens?"
Masked Builder Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 "Hold Arasmyth! Don't take another step, if you can, use some magic to investigate, but I sense a possible trap ahead." Skrall inspected the foliage above him, firing off a bolt to ensure nothing lurked in the tree tops. There's nothing above or below the sticks that looks like a trap.
Quarryman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 There's nothing above or below the sticks that looks like a trap. "So, there's nothing else in the scenery that looks suspicious.. hmm." "I shall take a look at these odd sticks, from a safe distance to see if I can notice what is odd about them."
Masked Builder Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 "I shall take a look at these odd sticks, from a safe distance to see if I can notice what is odd about them." Namyrra examines the sticks and it appears that they are stacked around something large and brown.
Quarryman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Namyrra examines the sticks and it appears that they are stack around something large and brown. I'll try to see what the large and brown something is, while still maintaining a safe distance, of course.
Masked Builder Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 I'll try to see what the large and brown something is, while still maintaining a safe distance, of course. Namyrra looks at the pile again and it appears to be some sort of chest. But she can't find anything else out without removing the sticks from the chest.
Quarryman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Namyrra looks at the pile again and it appears to be some sort of chest. But she can't find anything else out without removing the sticks from the chest. "Hmm, what do you say gang, should I walk over and check it out?" Namyrra patiently waits for her quest mates to react. ()
Waterbrick Down Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 "Well sticks are wood, and I think I saw ya usin' a bit of plant magic before, so if you can remove those sticks via magic, go for it, otherwise, I'll go and physically investigate those things myself. I can take the hit if it's a trap, but I expect someone to get me out "
Kadabra Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 "Your turn to hold, ogre." Arasmyth will create a strong gust of wind to blow the sticks away at the cost of 1 ether.
Masked Builder Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 "Your turn to hold, ogre." Arasmyth will create a strong gust of wind to blow the sticks away at the cost of 1 ether. Arasmyth casts a wind spell blowing the sticks away. Now it is easy to tell that it is a chest. Arasmyth RuGard (played by Kadabra) Level 3 Mage Power: 6 Health: 7/7 Ether: 6/7 Gold: 3 Inventory: Crystalline Staff (WP: 3), Sapphire (Wind), Potion (2), Smoke Bomb
Kadabra Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 "Anyone willing to walk over and examine the chest?" Arasmyth asks while peering at the chest to see if any traps have been exposed.
Masked Builder Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 "Anyone willing to walk over and examine the chest?" Arasmyth asks while peering at the chest to see if any traps have been exposed. No traps have been exposed, and it looks like a normal chest.
Kadabra Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Arasmyth looks to his companions, then tentatively steps forward and reaches out with his staff and tries to pull the chest toward the party without getting closer than necessary.
Waterbrick Down Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 "Arasmyth, I thank you fer yer effort, but I think we're just goin' to have to take a chance." With that, Skrall stepped ahead of the mage and atempted to open the chest.
Kadabra Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 (edited) Arasmyth oulled his staff back and shrugged, then laughed as Skrall fell into the well-concealed pitfall trap that was obviously going to be there. Edited October 19, 2011 by Kadabra
Masked Builder Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 Skrall tries to open the chest but the chest appears to need two keys to open it
Kadabra Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 "Perhaps we should bring it with us and open it if we find the keys."
Masked Builder Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 "Perhaps we should bring it with us and open it if we find the keys." QM Note: You can come back once you've found the keys as well.
Waterbrick Down Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 "I'd rather not be hampered by a trunk that could just be full of dirty dishes. Let's head back to the last intersection and head down the right path and keep our eyes peeled for any keys."
Quarryman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 "Perhaps we should bring it with us and open it if we find the keys." "If we can take it with us that would probably be the best solution, if not I guess we'll have to come back here once/if we find the keys." "I'd rather not be hampered by a trunk that could just be full of dirty dishes. Let's head back to the last intersection and head down the right path and keep our eyes peeled for any keys." "That does sound sensible though, let's head back."
Masked Builder Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 The party goes down the right path and walks into a clearing, where the are a couple of men standing. K-Nut Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Althior casts a darkness spell on Bandit (Staff) from the back row.
Quarryman Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 "Okay, two bandits, both of which are humanoids making them weak against mine or Althior's Darkness spells, so each of us should target one of them, and as Althior can deal the most damage I'd suggest that he targets the stronger bandit." "So, that being said I shall cast a Darkness spell at the Bandit (Axe) from the Back Row."
