"Knifk randomly picked names for locations, so snakey man could go wherever he wanted if we splat up."

OOC: "Splat up" is Knifk's bad grammar, not mine

Sarick is right, it would not be good to split up.

Since we have the potion for Jui, let's go give it to her.

"Ye' Gorg agrees with Nerwen! Let's Giva a Potion first and next to the tavern. Gorg knows where are taverns there- are gossips! And that can help our group."

Nothing moved in Ve'er's main street. There was a chill in the air, a stillness that permeated skin and went deeper, into your core. It looked like a village that had suffered, and there was an emptiness about it that was quite eerie.

Sorrow listened to the heroes discussion and let loose another long sigh.

6337262970_55d462c4a6_t.jpg

"I have no problem with you splitting up into two groups, but remember if you run into any kind of trouble you'll have less bodies. Anyway, Sarick, Nerwen, Gorg and Guts have all said to go to Vres' house first, so that's what we'll do. All together. Right Vres? Vres?"

6370582413_658bc5279f_b.jpg

Vres had run off to one of the rundown houses that stood in a broken line just off the main street. He looked back at the party and said, "Come in heroes!". They follow him in to his small abode, clamouring for space with so many people present.

6370582553_e29c0a02f3_b.jpg

Vres went straight to his wife. "Jui, Jui! Are you OK my darling?" he cried. There was no response, but the party could tell she was still breathing. Like the town itself, she seemed colourless, empty, devoid of any spark. Vres took her cold hand in his and clasped it tightly, tears pouring down his cheeks.

What will the party do?

"I've solved it."

Dak smiled: :smug: He had figured it out, and he walked away, heading for the door. He had done it, and cool calculations flowed through his head as he stopped in the door, as if waiting for something.

"Are you coming or not?" he asked the rest of the party."Vres can stay here. We don't need him to suffer more than he already has. Sorrow, I know where the Darkstar is. It's in the mine, and it's causing Jui's illness. It's also causing the lifelessness we saw in the town. The reason? The Darkstar sucks life and color into itself. It is the Darkstar, after all. We need to go to the mine!"

Gorg looked at the Vres, even he met him like hour ago he had compassion on him. He patted Vres back and said: "Vres worry not, Gorg and his new friends will try to help cure the illness". Then he looked at Vreses love and walked from the house with sadness on his face.

Then Dak started to talk.

"Dak knows what is happening? How? Gorg curious!

"It was simple. The hints were there all along, but no one noticed them. Like when Sorrow had Vres, she said he knew something about the Darkstar, but he said he knew nothing. Also, the fact that Vres worked in the mine until it closed down. It's all so obvious now, I can't believe I couldn't see it before. The mine was closed down because someone found the Darkstar! We need to get to the mine right away. Our enemies may be there already."

He also takes note of the small black crystal pendant around her neck. "Might necks tone be part of Darkstar?"

QM Note - That was just a female torso I used, it's not a clue or anything. It was that or reusing the pirate girl torso

"Damn magic gems..." Guts grinds his teeth behind his wrappings, magic was trouble, something he had learnt at a very young age. The apparantly dangerous gem, the mysterious woman that called herself Sorrow and seemed to love violence, and now this little town, where everything just felt... wrong.

"I think it would be wise to talk to the locals before we head into the mine, so that we know what to expect if we head in."

I the locals are as drained and hopless as Vres, it may be a waste of time.

Though it might be good to drop into the magic shop, see if there is anything that might help us on the quest.

Then yes, to the mine.

What do people think of that as a plan?

QM Note - I will assume in this instance that Nerwen actually wants to give Jurn's potion to Jui. It has been mentioned by others but not Nerwen who actually has the potion in her possession. Please make sure you state your actions in situations like these.

With her best hopeful smile to Vres, Nerwen crouched down next to Jui, who was still and unmoving. She gently raised her head up and made her drink small sips of Jurn's potion. The yellow liquid was warm, perhaps the only thing in the town that still seemed to possess any heat, and she coughed. Vres immediately fussed over her but Nerwen stopped him with a gesture.

Wait, Vres. Give her some room, and time for the potion to have an effect."

Time seemed to pass very slowly in that cramped room. The party waited uncomfortably, some perhaps impatient to get going again, but they wanted to make sure Vres and Jui were OK.

Eventually colour seemed to fill the frail woman on the bed, and she gripped Vres's hand with renewed strength. Tears fell down Vres's face as he saw that his wife was not going to succumb to the mysterious sickness, that Jurn's potion had kept it at bay again.

Before she could say anything, Jui slipped into a deep, restful sleep, leaving Vres to thank the party.

"I can't thank you enough for helping me, rescuing me from her," he glares at Sorrow, "and paying for this potion to revive my Jui. I hope you find out what is causing this sickness. If it is indeed this Darkstar gem, please tell me you will be careful. It seems no good can come of it."

The party have completed the sidequest "Helping the Innocent". Nerwen has lost Jurn's Potion (Quest Item)

The party head out of Vres's house, leaving him reunited with his wife.

They head back to the main street. The party cause quite a stir. They head to a pink building that they assume is the magic shop. A woman is outside waving, "Cooee!"

However, outside the Tavern, two people shout out "Come over here!"

With the party continue to the Magic Shop, or go to the Tavern instead?

"The woman at the pink building seemsss far more inviting than the 'gentleman' at the tavern. My vote, head to the magic shop first."

"She could be tricking us. Besides, there might be a good barfight in the Tavern, and we could always use more loot and experience. My vote goes to the Tavern."

"I suggest we are careful if we talk to those men, they seem up to no good, if you know what I mean, I agree with Scaly here, lets go to the magic shop first."

If they are up to no good, we can always have Knifk and Gorg smash them. But, it really is up to Nerwen, so I'll go either way.

"You misunderstand me, boy. I am not saying I do not want to fight them, I just suggest we are prepared to do it."

"Hey! I'm not that much younger than you! Do you think I would join Heroica if I wasn't prepared for it? I know what you meant. I think you misunderstand. I meant that if we were brought to a fight, Gorg and Knifk, being the Barbarian and Knight of our party, would probably be able to take care of them."

Dak watched Guts intently. He wasn't sure what Sorrow had said to him earlier, but it must have been something important, otherwise Guts wouldn't be acting this way. He kept one eye on the thugs, though, since they looked drunk.

Listening to the party discuss it, there seems more votes for the magic shop

Magic shop first, I think. Tavern after that.

Nerwen leads the group over to the garishly pink shop.

OOC. sorry I missed bolding the potion-giving. :) Mafia can be distracting, as you know!

The party decide to ignore the advances of the burly-looking men outside the Tavern, and head to the Magic Shop. By this time the woman is inside, so they all pile in.
