Nick Wolfe Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I've not seen those posters, but they look cool. I too want the train, but already have Diagon Alley. And, if Pottermore gets big enough, and continues the theme in the way many want it to, that might be enough to keep Lego going, but that's unlikely, seeing as Pottermore is based around the books and Lego has never based a theme off a book, without it first becoming a movie (seems kind of family unfriendly, not promoting reading and all, but it's probably better for business, books aren't as well publicized as movies. This rant got off topic really fast.) I want more lego Harry Potter. Quote
Geertos13 Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 (edited) You can just make it yourself. I'm sure you can find most of the parts on PAB. By the way, I just found these Brickipedia. They look official, but I can't seem to find them on the Lego Harry Potter website, and they are not prizes in the Battle for Hogwarts game. Does anybody know anything about these? Well, I know these have been surfing around the internet for quite some time now, but I thought they were part of one of those games If not, I really don't know where'they're from. Maybe the were put into the first game before it got replaced by the Battle for Hogwarts one? These are defenatly official though. By the way, does anone know when something of a Harry Potter trailer is coming out for Years 5-7 because we got a few screenshots but that's it. I mean, if I remember well, the trailer for years 1-4 came really quickly after the annoucement of the game... Wonder how long this one would take before getting anymore news. On a side note, I might have missed something, but why is everybody talking about a Wormtail and a Malfoy Manor? Have I missed something?! Edited August 2, 2011 by Geertos13 Quote
Oky Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Let's face it, Pottermore could never be big enough for Lego to base sets on it. They've never made sets off of a videogame, with the small exception of the TFU Rogue Shadow, but that's Star Wars after all. Maybe the Super Hero theme will release some cool parts to make the figs we didn't get from Harry Potter The Tony Stark head will probably make for a good Sirius. On a side note, I might have missed something, but why is everybody talking about a Wormtail and a Malfoy Manor? Have I missed something?! Obviously. In the Behind the Scenes section of the Visual Dictionary there is an (abandoned) concept art for a malfoy manor set which seems to include what looks to be a Wormtail minifig. Quote

You gotta be shiting on me pulling my leg! An ABANDONED concept art? Why the Megabl*ck Didn't they make it? BOUHOUHOU I mean, I would have rather prefered a Malfoy Manor that a new Knight Bus, no offense to the Knight bus I have the old one and I thought it was cool... I'm loving the pictures with the Dursleys and the troll! Well, technically it's a 2011 product, and the currently available sets will still be around for a while for people to buy. I don't think there will be any more sets, sadly. By the way, I just found these on Brickipedia. They look official, but I can't seem to find them on the Lego Harry Potter website, and they are not prizes in the Battle for Hogwarts game. Does anybody know anything about these? They're LEGO versions of this poster and this one, just like the ones the LEGO Harry Potter website has in its downloads section for the previous six films. No idea where these two were released, but I think it's so cool that TLG is making these posters... I believe LEGO Indiana Jones is the first theme they did them for, but I'd love to see them for all movie-based licensed themes. Quote

The question was where they're from exactly. And yes, I agree. I'm crossing my fingers for Lego versions of posters for The Dark Knight, The Avengers, and possibly also of Captain America, Iron Man 1-3, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Superman, Wonder Woman, etc.! Ceroknight Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 About the MINI Hogwarts train, there already is a similar promotion with the Alien Conquest Jetpack set here, so I assume it's for the UK? Quote
Oky Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 No, the train (or locomotive, as it were) is only for the purchase of Diagon Alley, the jetpack is for any order above a certain amount ($35 here in the US). Quote
Vindice Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 I certainly hope it continues, if they can have years and years of starwars sets, surely they can squeeze out a few more modern HP sets. The sets sell well and there is plenty of ideas but there are a couple of problems that historically point to it being discontinued. 1/ no more films means limited publicity. No kids going into the cinema and coming out wanting to recreate a scene in toy form. 2/ TLG doesn't like to have too many licenses going at one time. SW has been renewed on a multi-year contract so that is here to stay. Pirates of the Caribean has just started (although maybe not faring too well in terms of sales against predictions), and then there is the new and returning superhero license and this is a big one!! If you see the visual dictionary, the HP creation team is not small. I doubt they could have them all on a dead or dying license so they would probably be re-deployed to the new license. this means no team to design new sets. We would love to see more sets but it is unfortunately not very likely. Believe me if I'm wrong I will be happier than anyone. Quote

They've had plenty of licenses at one time in the past. Who says it's dead/dying. Sure, we haven't heard yet for next year, but that goes for all themes minus SW(which is only the case due to Comic Con). Otherwise, we haven't heard any solid news about SW either. Quote
10or Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) i wanna hear some information soon about whether or not the theme will be continued. i would rather wait for official sets and figs instead of making my own customs the new detective outfit from series 5 would be excellent for slughorn Edited August 4, 2011 by 10or Quote

SW has been renewed on a multi-year license so that is definately back but honestly I have no idea about the others. I really hope I'm wrong and I hope we have official news soon. I'd love for at least another year of Potter but TLG have dropped it many time before when it could have easily been kept going. i hope the games have kindled a lot of interest because if it makes money then they would be mad to discontinue it. Red Bricks Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 (edited) Does anybody who has seen the latest film think that the Battle of Hogwarts set should have McGonagall in it? As she does take the leading role in the battle and Lucius doesn't really participate.... Edited August 4, 2011 by Red Bricks Quote

As she does take the leading role in the battle and Lucius doesn't really participate.... The thing about that is that the battle of Hogwarts set and last year's Hogwarts are supposed to be two parts of the same set, kinda. Both have major characters from the battle, and more people would have bought a big Hogwarts with McGonagall than with sprout, and other than the mandatory Harry, the two sets have completely different characters. Now we have all heads of house, even though Prof.s Flitwick and Sprout have no house/students to head... Quote
Vindice Posted August 5, 2011 Posted August 5, 2011 good point, crazy. If they wanted to round off the collection nicely it would be good to have a few students from Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff and maybe even Professor Slughorn. I am disappointed they never did a Tonks or Shacklebolt figure. Quote

I am disappointed they never did a Tonks or Shacklebolt figure. Another reason I hope the theme doesn't end here, we have many needed characters still. I'm not going to name names, because that's another thread, but there's a lot left(a few remakes as well) of notable characters I want. A few would be in the remake category, Wormtail and Sirius, I missed them and would like to get them, as they play such a big, albeit small screen time, roles on the series. Quote
Remus_Lupin Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Does anyone else think WB could reboot the HP series in years to come? The way popular franchises are being regenerated at the moment it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Quote

It's like my favorite theme ever and me and my little brother love building stuff together. There's so much more they could do! Quote
Vindice Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 Well i think that would depend on how long WB hold the rights to HP for. I suspect they would need to renegotiate this with Rowling. Don't see that happening. more likely that if she ever writes another book (she said she isn't) that they would do something like a cartoon from it. Quote

I could actually see a cartoon Harry Potter series like The Clone Wars. Like base it on the First Wizardry War or as a sequel after the film series. Fingers crossed Quote
SBrown Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 (edited) WarnerBrothers would not have the best interests of the franchise at heart if they reboot this series within the next two to three decades. The problem is, this series has become a classic (and forgive this analogy but I must use it) much like the Planet of the Apes. Sure it had butt loads of sequels but it did not have a true reboot until recent years, decades AFTER the original versions. I do not see Warner Brothers rebooting this within the next ten to twenty years. As far as sequels and prequels go; I believe they would be apprehensive to jump the gun on any possibilities; especially given the hugely loyal fanbase that JK Rawling has. If they do anything to upset that woman, WB will loose millions of fans who will allign with JK in any public squabbling over the HP Franchise. I believe WB would and probably will start putting pressure on JK for prequels about the first wizarding war (i.e. rise of voldemort, ect ect) and this would give Lego the perfect opportunity to prolong this theme. I just, again, do not see a reboot coming up. And to edit: I'm buying a second Diagon Alley today for the minifigs and buildings. My son lost some of the pieces and I'm a completist. So I took apart the other set and just rebuying it this afternoon. Edited August 6, 2011 by SBrown Quote
Remus_Lupin Posted August 6, 2011 Posted August 6, 2011 I've read that WB don't have the rights to create any original material using the HP universe, so that would rule out any 'Clone Wars' type avenues. Quote
