King of Nynrah Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 (edited) I'd absolutely love more BIONICLE parts in the next version of LDD, as at the moment it has very few. I understand the LEGO Group no longer has the models for some of the older parts, so here is a realistic list of the parts that I really would like to see in the next version. Part 47312 Part 47313 Part 57536 Part 53564 Part 53545 Part 47306 (My memory eludes me on this one, I can't remember whether it has already been added or not) Part 60894 Part 60895 Part 60896 Part 60899 Part 60900 Part 60901 Part 45749 Part 47328 Part 53548 Part 53574 Part 53563 Part 88896 Part 57533 Part 44814 Part 87788 ... Sjuip Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 I would like to request an 'oldie-goldie' that is still going strong. It has been used in 28 sets from from 1974 till 2011. Part 3492c01 - Crane Bucket - Complete Assembly (Top, Jaws, Spring) I know, it is not really a part needed for daring constructions, but a true City or Minifig sized construction model is incomplete without it... Good request. Parts that have been used in many sets are always easier to get through. At least that's my experience. Quote
Eleven Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 These are a few of the parts I would like to see. They are mostly Bionicle/Exo-Force parts, but the ones at the top are more general and are ones I would definitely like to have included! 4784 2046 41672 424 55767 47459 47460 47461 47462 47463 50623 50624 50625 50626 50627 54171 54175 54178 47314 47335 32551 44790 50858 47298 44350 44351 I would also like to see many more printed parts, but especially the following: 4444pb03 4444p03 4444p06 4444pb01 4444p02 4444p05 4444pb04 4444p01 4444p04 2345p01 2345p44 2345pb01 2345pb02 2345pb05 2345pb06 Quote
Flipz Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 I would also like to see many more printed parts, but especially the following: I, too would like to see many more printed parts. Actually... I don't know if it would be possible, but I'd LOVE to see some of the torso and leg (and arm) printing options from the files of LEGO Universe made available in LDD. You know, for those of us who take pictures using print screen and aren't quite skilled enough to Photoshop the desired designs in. Along the same lines, some more backdrops with more variation would be nice. Again, some of the old resources from LEGO Universe might be helpful to the design team, they've already been made and aren't in use, why not use a few? Quote
Hoexbroe Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Still being new here, I dont know the expected ratio of success any request would have but... I desperatly need the lever and the base of the "Mini Antena" as individual parts! They are very easy to separate anyway (much easier than f.x. a stud in a Technic hole), and both parts have numerous uses separatly! -So I wouldnt think it so far-fetched to implement. Also, even though this is not the right place, I´ll ask if somebody has a (link to a) modification of LDD which will provide these two pieces imediatly¿? Quote

Also, even though this is not the right place, I´ll ask if somebody has a (link to a) modification of LDD which will provide these two pieces imediatly¿? It turns out the expected ratio for requested parts is pretty good. Last time I think we got most parts we fans requested (except for a few older parts that apperantly didn't exist CAD-files at TLG). However, getting the mini antenna as separate part is highly unlikely that it will happen. The principe used in LDD is that parts that come assembled from factory are assembled also in LDD. This also includs parts that are supplied un-assembled, but once assembled, they cannot be taken apart. Examples include the 2x2 turntable. However, in this particular case, it would probably be easier to which for the 2x2 turntable base, since it was used in some recent official sets (like Taj Mahal). The same principle applies to mini-fig hands. They are not supplied from TLG as loose parts, and hence are not in LDD. Basically, one can say that parts in LDD are supplied only as they would be available to a TLG-designer. Quote

I understand what you are saying, and I pretty much knew it already, from these last few days of "experimentation" with this software. The minifig-hands that you mention is a very good example of another part that absolutly NEED to be present in the parts-library, in order to make "even just normal" constructions. Others that comes to mind are: Minifig legs and the plate part of the 2x2 plate Technic turntable. On one hand I can understand that Lego might not include these (that´s a lie; I cant for the life of me understand why they dont include them at least in the "extended mode") -But at least these parts should be available as third-part patches/hacks from the comunity, of the definition-file of LDD... Calabar Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 On one hand I can understand that Lego might not include these (that´s a lie; I cant for the life of me understand why they dont include them at least in the "extended mode") -But at least these parts should be available as third-part patches/hacks from the comunity, of the definition-file of LDD... Superkalle didn't say that these parts cannot be included, but that TLG don't want to include that. By now it should be clear: TLG want that LDD would be an instrument to design with LEGO using legal techniques and bricks in their final and complete form. That means that TLG simply don't want to stimulate the use of that "weirdness" often used by MOCers. About adding bricks to the LDD database, it has been discussed already. TLG want to check and approve the pieces provided with the software, so I think it will be never implemented an import function that allows to add bricks geometries to the .lif database. Besides there is another problems: now LDD is a "all in one" software that allow to open all files created with it. With the use of external bricks, that will not be possible. LDD is meant to be a simple software, easy usable by kids, so that isn't a desirable feature. I can understand your point of view: I'm one of those that would be very happy to have in LDD a new mode allowing to use extra bricks and illegal techniques. But I can understand TLG point of view too, and I think they have their good reasons. Quote

zinfinion Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Wow. This is the way it should look. It's pretty much every piece I've found missing while cranking out the old sets, as well as a few more recent ones. Even though a lot of these haven't been used in years, wishlists are for wishing. I'm rather encouraged by the addition of the classic space cockpit, so here's hoping. It actually still needs a few updates and tweaks. After 40+ parts I was brain numb. I won't let them pile up from now on. Quote

Murdoch17 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I was making a minature railway in LDD, and since we don't have narrow gauge straights, I wanted to do what this Brickshelf user did: ...But the required parts don't exist in LDD (the inner and outer rails)! Here is my part suggestions: This comes in three versions. Here is the one I want: Train, Track Slotted Rail Curved Outside (3229b) This also comes in three versions, and I would like this one: Train, Track Slotted Rail Curved Inside (3230b) Now, I would like the LDD designers to look into this narrow gauge track idea and see if it's allowed. (if it's illegal or not, basically) ...In case your wondering, I wanted these to be parts implemented becuse I have designed a narrow gauge steam engine and train, and would like tracks to go with it. Thanks! Quote

obsidianheart Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 This is pure fantasy as it only appears in four sets between 2003 and 2007, but I need 46453 for a LDD MOC I've built, and it would be super-neat if it were in there. Also Nthing the "More flex tubes". Makes me crazy sometimes. And the minifig hair. Anikin's and Harry's specifically. I also wish the wrist-hole were the proper depth on the Cyborg arm from the Agents sets, but I think I just strayed into nit-pick territory. Quote
