Nightshroud99 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Not sure where to put this. It's kind of out there but, really really cool!!!! http://money.ca.msn.com/savings-debt/gallery/12-machines-that-want-your-job#image=5 I've always wanted a replicator as a kid, thinking of the action figures I could make that didn't exist. I imagine, as technology progresses, that it could be possible to replicate entire LEGO sets. Though it'd have to be brick by brick. Quote
davee123 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 There's copyright issues, obviously, with making your own LEGO-- but it would be pretty neat if you could pay a small royalty fee and then just make any LEGO part historically (cypress tress, monorail track, classic space helmets, etc). Question would be whether the quality of the ABS is up to the same standards as injection molding-- but I have no idea where they are on that front. DaveE Quote
brickmack Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Saw this a while back, would be nice for making LEGO parts, once they improve some more and get cheaper. DaveE I haven't seen the results of this particular machine, but from other ones I've seen the shaping isn't quite as good as molded parts, and the ABS always looked a bit off to me. Quote
