just2good Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 I thought Lego didn't have a twitter page? Or is it the same as Facebook where its a Lego shop page? They do, here's a link to it. Whenever they say sets will release in August, that usually meant they'll be released in late May/June. June is going to be a pricey month for me! But I think the Spiderman set will be worth the money. Quote
Dadster Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Got to the local Lego store the other day and snagged a few new Avengers sets. Love the fact that we are finally getting more than Spidey from Marvel. Iron Man is my favorite and so I was ecstatic that he was being produced in MF form. Then I saw pics. Ugh. A small part of me kept hope alive that the in-hand version would be better... Nope. Just a colossal helmet away from perfection, IMO Marvel...oh well. Appreciate the effort. Quote
LEGOman273 Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Need the hovercrafts and aliens together although Buy the the Cap set, then sell what you don't want. You could put Cap's bike together, put the stickers on it, and sell it as a unit. Quote
Algernon Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Buy the the Cap set, then sell what you don't want. You could put Cap's bike together, put the stickers on it, and sell it as a unit. There's a pretty big demand for Marvel minifigures, so this would probably work, although don't expect to get a ton of money back. Quote
moop Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 I decided to just keep the minifigs and sell off the sets and extra figs I don't want or need. So I definitely get the idea of selling off stuff. Quote
Piranha Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Augest for the Nick Fury set. Any ideas what it might be? Just for clarification, the Twitter response on the release date was for the Spiderman set, not anything involving Nick Fury. That is still unknown. Quote
just2good Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) Didn't notice this earlier, but TLC said on their Twitter that this wave of Superheroes will be the last "comprehensive" wave this year. All hope isn't lost though, as this doesn't mean they wont release a UCS set of TDKR or The Avengers! Forgot to post this, but I call that the SDCC exclusive figures will be TDKR Batman (new leaked mash), and Nick Fury. Edited April 11, 2012 by just2good Quote
Piranha Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 There are also chances for a few "Special Edition" type sets, I am expecting four this year, two each for Marvel & DC: DC: - Funhouse set (Confirmed) - TDKR set (Unknown) Marvel: - Spiderman set (Confirmed) - A set with Nick Fury (Unknown) Of course this is just pure speculation and the other two are not confirmed yet. After reviewing the press release, I am a bit confused though: The LEGO Marvel’s The Avengers movie line brings such ever popular Marvel characters as Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Hawkeye, Loki and Black Widow to LEGO minifigure form. The LEGO X-Men collection includes minifigure comic versions of Wolverine, Magneto, Nick Fury and Deadpool, while the LEGO Spider-Man sets offer minifigure comic versions of Spider-Man, and Doctor Octopus Nick Fury is listed with the comic versions of X-Men? I thought it said "this wave of Superheroes will be the last "comprehensive" wave." As in, the last one ever. Phew! I was freaking out for a minute! I'm okay with it being the last wave this year. I don't have endless money, and I couldn't afford much more Superheroes. I'm trying to focus on City a bit more. I guess an UCS set would be cool, but it'd need minifigs to catch my attention enough to buy it. Quote
connor18gow Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I'm hoping the Nick Fury figure will be in another spidey set since he's in the ultimate Spiderman show. That will also give us a chance for a Dr doom or venom. One can dream. Quote
Omicron Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Perhaps Nick Fury won't be a set and Lego changed their plans. Press release info can be tentative and holds no promises. They didn't mention Iron Fist, and he was made into a fig. -Omi Quote

Clone OPatra Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I thought we had a picture of Nick Fury somewhere. It's just a render on a LEGO-ized movie poster, which signifies nothing. However, since Fury is a very important character in the film, I think LEGO probably will release him at some point. I just can't see why they wouldn't. Quote

The only further evidence is when asked about what set he was going to appear in, TLG's response was they were not able to reveal those details yet, which would lead to believing that they are going to release him in a set in the near future. Im a brickmaster. Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 You know, theres a chance the set might just pop up kinda like how the joker funhouse did, mybe he'll be in there. Quote
Lance Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 One thing that disturbs me is the lack of availability of the DC sets in France. My son was only able to order the Catwoman one from Shop At Home and that's it. Does TLG have a reason for this like a shipping error or they're coming out with the Marvel sets? Or are Lego not going to ship them to stores here? I hope the same thing isn't repeated with the Marvel sets Quote

Belgium and The Netherlands don't sell these sets either. I sent an e-mail with this question to LEGO and they told me that they couldn't tell more about their marketing policy. He did give a hint about the release of those nasty Bionicle-ish figures... (you can read that e-mail in a post of mine in a couple of pages earlier.) Let's hope they release some sets when 'The Avengers' & 'The Dark Knight Rises' come out in Europe. Edited April 13, 2012 by Cammo Quote
phanstasm Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 (edited) It's not only France who this problem. Belgium and The Netherlands don't sell these sets either. I sent an e-mail with this question to LEGO and they told me that they couldn't tell more about their marketing policy. After almost 4 full months of the US having these sets, this is unfair. Especially because people in these areas want them, but even more because some in these areas are giving into scalpers just to get the sets. Ultimately, this hurts Lego. They lose sales in the country where these sets are unavailable via lego.com. Understandably, people would rather pay unfair prices to get the set for themselves or as a gift for someone rather than wait 6 or 7 months. That is totally understandable from the customer point of view. I'm sure it has to do with Lego trying to provide the largest amount of licensed sets to the market that will give it the most in revenue. After all, Lego is a business. They can only produce so much at one time, and no matter how memorably, it's a business. Meaning, they have to do what's best for themselves to continue delivering exceptional quality. Still, it's unfair for those in country "x" who want the sets, but are penalized because their county as a whole is not as strong as market as country "y" for the super hero sets. piemaster1446 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 My local store had the marvel sets. I got the chopper and cap'n america. Quote
hjmediastudios Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I just picked up Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout and the Cap set. The Target guy said they didn't have any of the others yet, so my Avengers will have to wait until I can snag a Quinjet and chopper to round out their roster with Iron Man, Black Widow, and Wolverine. Quote
connor18gow Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 What stores are selling the marvel sets online at the normal price? Walmart and target are out of stock and Amazon doesn't get them till May. Quote
YangHao6998 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Damn, no sign of the Marvel sets in my country Quote
Sam892 Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Next year I think we will still get a couple of Avengers sets. I mean look at the Cars 2 sets they got a second wave this year which I didn't expect. Although I think next years sets will focus more on X-men and Spiderman. The two non Avengers sets this year were just teasers of whats to come. Nick Fury could be in any Marvel theme. He's in Ultimate Spiderman, he and Wolverine have worked to together many times at Shield and of course the Avengers film. There's probably is a couple of special sets to be released like the Black pearl was maybe the tumbler and some sort of Fury set however I wouldn't think they would be above 400 pieces. Quote
ReZourceman Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I think its somewhat likely we'll get maybe Iron Man and Thor sets next year, OR Avengers (or and), as they both have movies out next year. Quote
