I think sets based outright on the comics can be a little tougher to do. The comics tend to have few truly well defined places, few well defined and easily recognize able vehicles, so at best you are looking to capture a scene. To get a recognizeable scene that will sell well on the toy shelf it almost has to be either based off a classic cover, or from a really famous story arc.

We will see some, as they will be the only way to fill in some holes. But I think the bulk of at least the initial waves will come from whatever movies TLG has the license for. They can easily get a year or twos worth of releases fom the 2 Iron Man movies, Thor, Captain America and the Avengers (less so from Hulk sadly). Maybe fleshed out with a classic Clairemont/Byrne era Xmen Danger Room or Sentinals set and a FF vs Galactus set.

I actually think it's a lot easier to make sets based on the comics than the films. For example the avengers sets had to follow scenes in the movie but the comic sets can be made from scratch. I haven't really read any of the comics in a few years but I can't remember dead pool and magneto fighting wolverine with a helicopter. The same with the Batman comic sets. LEGO can pick a couple of characters like Cyclops, Night crawler and Mistque for example. Then Lego only need to add a setting or a vehicle. The X-men licence covers a lot of ground. Although it doesn't cover the Films it covers the comics and most likely the TV series. Lego love to make up situations and add characters that dont belong. Look at some of the star wars sets and even some of The Avengers sets. Also I don't think we will be seeing the Fantastic four anytime soon as I believe that although the DC license covers all characters, the Marvel one only covers Avengers, X-men and Spider-man. So unless Lego and Marvel expand the license to include them or they appear on The Ultimate Spider-man show, we wont be getting them. I can see why Lego hasn't got the whole marcel license as some characters don't fit into there core values. Characters like Ghost rider, Blade and punisher although are key characters in the marvel universe are inappropriate for Lego.

Really? As far as I knew only the 30165 Hawkeye with Equipment set was released in a Swedish magazine. When was 30163 released?

He wasn't saying that the set was physically available, he was saying that the picture was found already.

Yeah, I just meant that.

I just saw a NEW TV commercial for the LEGO Avengers. It was kinda wierd and long but it had the Nick Fury minifig in it as well as Bruce Banner each for a split second before Bruce turned into Hulk and Fury got into a ship I think. Banner had short messy black hair, I couldnt see his face but he had a bare chest and tan legs. Fury looked like the one in the poster.

May I ask what channel it was on?

Nope, they have the complete Marvel Comics library too.

Is this the TV commercial?

[snip]

I don't think that's the right one, but there is also a Nick Fury Minifigure in the Lego Store Avengers poster as shown here. Chances of a actual Nick Fury Minifigure? :sceptic:

Either LEGO is just being plain mean by tempting us with these, or they are really hyping up a future release of the two figures people are really dying for right now! Im hoping it is the second one!

Can anyone explain to me the batwing concept LEGO based one of their DC universe sets on and how accurate the one they designed is to the real thing, both in terms of size and general design, and is the one seen in this photo more alike to what people generally associate with such a concept?

Sorry to ask this but can someone who owns an Iron Man figure and Robin's hair take a picture with him wearing it? Thanks in advance! :classic:

Is the old robin fine?

Yes, the one seen in the flickr image you posted is probably the design most people associate with the batwing. That's only because more people, including non-regular comic fan moms and dads who buy their children Legos, have seen the live action films, but not the comic or cartoon incarnations.

In terms of size and general design, either release of Lego's batplane is fine. There have been many different incarnations of the batplane, from comics to cartoons, to live action films. If you go to the following page, they have a very nice assortment of batplane variations, images, and detailed explanations: http://ourworlds.topcities.com/batman/batplane/elseworlds-batplane.html

In the great tradition of Batman interpretations, Lego took the concept of a batplane and made it their own. Their batplane is not based on any one design.

And with the two versions of Lego's batplane, 2006 and 2012, there isn't a correct answer as to which is better. It depends on how you like your vehicle-to-minigure relation. If you want bigger, more detailed ships, than the original 2006 design is better for you. Though some could argue it's too big for the minifigure. If you want smaller, cheaper, than the 2012 design is good for you. Some argue that this one isn't as detailed as the original. I enjoy both versions of the Lego batplane very much.

I've found that the S7 Computer Nerd's hair looks even better.

That's what I love about the LEGO Batman line. I've found that sets which don't directly tie in to any one movie or other medium tend to age better. I hope if the Legend of Zelda project on Cuusoo makes it through review, the finished product does something similar. After all, The Legend of Zelda is another franchise that has many interpretations of recurring motifs.

I was a little bit disappointed that the Marvel sets mostly failed to take this direction, and instead all but two of the sets were directly inspired by the Avengers movie. I hope subsequent waves are more like the X-Men set, which eschews any particular scene in favor of a new scenario with iconic characters.

Thanks for the tip but isn't that the same piece? (I might be wrong )

It is the same hair piece. For your previous request. Look at the Licensed picture/funnies threads. There's plenty of pictures of Tony Stark with that hair.
