Happy to see you have accepted my invitation to post your castle in this forum. Nice to have you here!!!

Well, this is a beautiful and rather big castle.

I like the colors and all the little details you put into it.

You must have done some castle building before?

Congrats for the good work! *y*

I saw this castle yesterday on brickshelf and I loved it *wub*

It reminds me the sets 6085 and 6086.

All that minifigs inside the castle brings it to life.

I really like the main entrance with the bridge, that iron chains and the dragon

what were you tryng to cover up with photoshop though ???

- BrickMiner

:-D Well some idiot friends of mine came to visit me and build a flying washmachine and placed it on my castle...i removed it afterwards (offcourse :-)) but forgot to take it from the table when making the pictures....i need to finish the cover up work or make a new picture :-/

Any way thanks for all your positive replies :-$. It is my real first try of making a castle (or any medieval construction). Offcourse i have built my bought sets very often but i never made something myself.

It is excellent - I can see all the effort that went into the detailing. The interior bits are amazing.

I always feel a bit reluctant to "criticize" when I doubt I could do better, but..... I presume that you wanted some constuctive criticism, and this is only my personal opinion, but, I think it looks too cluttered. There are too many details, and the colour scheme is too varied.

This may have been intentional - you have created a busy, active, hectic looking town scene, perhaps more realistic than the idealized castles that are made by most builders.

However, the most memorable castle MOCs I have seen have had a very strict colour scheme for the buildings, and the people and details that went into them did not overwhelm the structure itself.

There is a confusion of different types of soldiers - this may be a cost issue, but if you could get them to all be part or the same army, that would help.

If you think of getting rid of any one colour in the walls, get rid of the yellow.

Again, this is not to say that your MOC isn't amazing, or that I didn't wish it was sitting on my table rather than yours. It really is excellent.

Cheers.

Hey gyl,

yes you'r right about the colour scheme, but i just don't have enough of one colour. The same goes for the soldiers. In the future i hope to get all the same soldiers and a more monotone colour scheme for the walls.

The busy courtyard is intentional yes, because i like to give a cosy feeling to it.

Thx for the reply though, i'm glad you like it.

Pretty impressive MRTS. You've definately built a nice structure that, when looking at it from the top to bottom, pops out at you with numerous levels of detail. I like the use of the yellow and red bricks with black that highlight some of the architectural designs.

The castle itself seems like an original combination/style of some of the best Classic Castles sets that Lego has produced, combined into a very nice diorama. And the inner part of the fortress captures Medieval life nicely. I always enjoy seeing how each person displays their minifigs (from guards, knights, to the citizens of your kingdom). You've done it well and that adds realism to your MOC.

And lastly, you've include some very nice detailed components including the drawbridge, the hanging prison, the large tower with red roof (my favorite), and the towers and catwalks between them.

This is very nicely done. Nice job! and welcome to Eurobricks.

One question: what is that piece that you used as the turning handle for the well (4 spokes, brown)

THanks. Gyl

Its the turning handle that comes with the vikingship 7018, in this set its used for turning the chickens above the fire onboard the ship.

@TheBrickster:

Thx for the possitive reply! I'm very happy you like it so much. :-)

Reminds me of the Black Monarch's Castle so much. A nicely detailed, nicely cluttered MOC. A very good introduction to EB. One less colour would help, but that will come with time to accumulate bricks. Thaks so much for sharing!

God Bless,

Nice work! We find some elements from older castles and vikings, and all those touches are well integrated! This castle looks like a lego casle has to be. We find some moving walls, some trapes, a lot of minifigs and accessories! It seems to be really playable. When I saw the pics, I would like to explore all the parts of this castle! It is big but not too for me. I like!

Good work for a first castle!

cool castle! Sometimes it seems like people are trying to be too perfect with thier castle designs. Your design seems to take a fresh approach from many I have seen (extra colors, interesting details, lots of details in fact) and looks really playable! rather than just a 'on the shelf' masterpiece. Must have taken a lot of effort! Wish Lego would sell something like that :)
