TheBigRedCheese Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Inspire by all the purist here, I decided to make a superior spiderman by one of the post here. credits to him/her. still need works on the torso though. and beside is electro, still need work too.. Superior Spider-Man looks awesome! As for the torso, try the Miles Morales Spidey torso. The pieces under Electro look more like they would belong under Ice Man. :P Anyways, great job! :) Quote

Um, I'm not sure you know what purist means in this context. This thread is for figures made without altering, damaging, painting, or printing official lego parts in any way. While your figures are great, you should make a new thread just to show them off, and not post them in this thread. Quote
Skier1215 Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 And for the while that I'm too cheap to buy War Machine, this'll have to do. Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted November 26, 2015 Posted November 26, 2015 Not bad, but you'd be way better off just making a helmet less war machine. Cause that helmet..XD Quote

TheBigRedCheese Posted November 27, 2015 Posted November 27, 2015 I've got a couple of questions, and I thought that this thread would be the best place to address them. First: I want to make Dr. Snow from the Flash TV show (she's not a superhero per se, but she works with one, AND [spoilerS] she's married to a (quite probably) dead one so let it slide.) I have nailed everything except the face. https://www.google.com/search?q=dr.+caitlin+snow&safe=strict&rlz=1CAHPZY_enUS667US667&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj5w7DDzrHJAhUCZD4KHWgVAZAQ_AUIBygB&biw=1366&bih=611 I've seen Tauriel (http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3626cpb0813#T=S&O={}) and Galadriel's (http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3626cpb1201&idColor=90#T=S&C=90&O={"color":90}) heads used for her, but I thought I'd get some other opinions. Second: I had a head just rolling about, and I cannot find a use for it. Other than Wonder Woman (whose head this is . . .) what can I do with it? (http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3626bpb0635&idColor=90#T=S&C=90&O={"color":90} / http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3626cpb0635#T=S&O={}) Obviously, stick to superheroes. Thanks for the help! :) Quote
BuzzableBuzzer Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 For Dr. Snow I think the newest hermione face would work quite well, as for wonder woman's head I don't have any ideas what it could be used for. Quote
Hulk_Smash Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I think a couple of myy female customs have used Wonder Woman's head Quote

BuzzableBuzzer, thank you for your input! :) That would be the 2011 Hermione, right? In other words . . . This one? - https://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?M=hp121&name=Hermione,%20Light%20Bluish%20Gray%20Sweater&category=%5BHarry%20Potter%5D#T=S&O={} And as for WW, I'll just keep looking . . . I think a couple of my female customs have used Wonder Woman's head Hulk_Smash, it seems that I can't search through your posts . . . Could you remind me which ones? :) Quote
Hulk_Smash Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 I'm not actually sure :/ most I usually get my head from ebay Quote

Freddy Bricker Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 Hey guys! I haven't been online in a while and I was wondering if people have started posting links rather than actual photos. Was this because of a new rule that was implemented or have people just sorta changed the way they present their pictures. Just wondering, sorry for the inconvenience! Quote
Zergos Posted November 28, 2015 Posted November 28, 2015 (edited) @TheBigRedCheese, I think I used the wonder woman head for my golden glider and for my wonder girl customs just cause I had extra ones around. Edited November 28, 2015 by Zergos Quote

In my case, it was due to the way that the new flickr app works on my device and prevents me from performing a proper copy and paste from the bbcode. But the copy URL element works fine... Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted November 29, 2015 Posted November 29, 2015 Since Lego's pretty crappy about flesh-tone women, unless you need really specific features, most female characters done through purist means use the Wonder Woman head or the Hermione one. Quote

Well, thanks anyway. @TheBigRedCheese, I think I used the wonder woman head for my golden glider and for my wonder girl customs just cause I had extra ones around. Ooh. Sounds like I'll be making at least one of them now. Since Lego's pretty crappy about flesh-tone women, unless you need really specific features, most female characters done through purist means use the Wonder Woman head or the Hermione one. Numbuh1Nerd, PREACH. Not only do they need more flesh-tone women, they need more racially diverse women as well. EDIT: Reading it over a second time, I'm seeing just how good advice that is. I'll have to hit up Bricklink, and start stocking up on Hermione and WW heads. Edited November 29, 2015 by TheBigRedCheese Quote

But the copy URL element works fine... Thanks man! I made a purist Gamora figure that I wanted to embed but the flickr tutorial that this site has doesn't seem to work well with the current flickr layout.. if that makes sense. Could any of you instruct me on how to embed a picture, for those of you who know how? Thanks! Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 So I made a purist Gamora based on her comic incarnation (not her Marvel now suit) its not amazingly accurate but I tried my best, hope you guys like it. Screenshot_2015-11-28-17-38-57 by freddybricker, on Flickr I also gave Drax some pants that resemble his blue pants that he wears in the comics, of course, I could've given him real jeans, but I decided he'd look cooler with designed pants 20151128_182114 by freddybricker, on Flickr and another shot of Gamora: 20151128_180731 by freddybricker, on Flickr Please feel free to criticize and express opinions on these 2 figs, hope you all enjoyed, I see some really great work here, you all have great talents in making original figures! Great job on Gamora! I've liked her for a while but she desperately needed a costume update for the film- the comic outfit was way too risqué for a mainstream release. I thought it was clever how the costumers kept the same basic pattern of fabric and straps but added to it to make actual clothes. It was a nice nod to the old costume without actually upsetting the censors. Anyway, you did great. The Oola print fits perfectly, and despite them both being Green-Skinned Space Babes, I never made that connection before. Very ingenious! Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 That's a pretty great Gamora, wow! Quote
N_Cat Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Inspired by this great thread by cebelicamya, I was looking through the history of various hair parts, and I noticed that despite being the most common hairpiece ever and still being in wide use today, part 3901 has never appeared in the DC Superheroes or Marvel Superheroes themes*. Are you guys still willing to use it for your own purist superhero figs, or do you avoid it because it doesn't match the aesthetic put forth by Lego? Or is it a completely meaningless coincidence and non-issue to most of you? *Excluding the old Spider-Man and Batman themes. Quote

I can't think of any one in the Heroes universe that would have hair even remotly of that nature. I think that the more detailed hair aids our more detailed figures. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 Thanks so much for all the feedback, it really means a lot! Inspired by this great thread by cebelicamya, I was looking through the history of various hair parts, and I noticed that despite being the most common hairpiece ever and still being in wide use today, part 3901 has never appeared in the DC Superheroes or Marvel Superheroes themes*. Or is it a completely meaningless coincidence and non-issue to most of you? *Excluding the old Spider-Man and Batman themes. Are you referring to the standard male piece? If so, I think its because not a lot of figures have been released that would require that piece. Funny that you'd mention hair pieces not fitting into aesthetics, Lego has a habit of releasing plenty of inaccurate hair pieces in the superheroes line! Quote
Numbuh1Nerd Posted December 1, 2015 Posted December 1, 2015 I don't use it just because I don't think it looks that good in general. Any character that could use that hair would usually look better with the 2012 Robin hair, apart from guys like Toyman that are supposed to look fake. Quote
