Thormanil is able to land a devastating strike while Elgar fires another bolt into his target. The orc archer curses and hoping to even the odds, grabs some items from his goblin bag of tricks. Thormanil is the only one to shield his eyes in time before the bombs explode in a peppery burst that blinds the party. While the orcs scramble away from the spirit, Elgar uses his sensitive ranger hearing to find Knifk and give him a Remedy vial. Rogue is struck by the darkness cloud just as another shadowy bolt of ether passes through its stomach and hits her in the chest. Thormanil's hastened feet move faster than his eyes as the shaman stumbles into an array of caltrops. They dig in deep to Thormanil's feet causing him to falter and limp but his natural fortitude allows him to recover. Inspired by the dark energies being used by his comrades, Knifk bursts with elemental damage. Hoping to destroy the evoker's pet by attacking the source, Rogue sprints at Ad-Hoh. She dives then rolls towards him. At the end of her roll she kicks Hoh hard in the knee then slashes his face with the tip of her blade as she returns to her feet and moves away from the Party. Knifk charges Ranger and the archer attempts to prepare. The orc knight suddenly dives to the left as a crossbow bolt whizzes past where his head once was and straight into the shoulder of the shocked orc bowman. As he falls, Elgar puts two more bolts into him before he hits the floor. The darkness dissipates just in time for Rogue to watch the bolt enter her right eye. THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS!! With their original leader unresponsive, Singerson and Ad-Hoh have a rougher time getting the party to the top. Thankfully the slugs seem to have been sleeping. The group make their way to the sewer tunnel. Nyssa refuses to go any farther. Nyssa turns cold. “You who would willingly side with greenskins disgust me! However, there are those among the Children of Akkaba who understand the use of lesser beings to accomplish our goals." She spits twice. "One for that orc there and one for that hideous thing with the bulbous head." Her skin begins to lighten. "I suppose you ultimately made the right choice. My father will hear of this. For he is the One Who is Closest to Akkaba. Consider your reputation among us slightly improved for whatever it's worth as you will most likely never find us again. I guess I should head to the wedding even though I don’t approve of that wench." Nyssa runs off leaving the Party at the sewer exit. THE QUEST HAS FAILED! "Spectacular performance!" shouted Singerson. "Altruistic alliteration! Fantastic and fanciful fighting, all!" Singerson danced around in a cirlce, humming a quick tune as he tapped out a beat with his feet. "As always, the heroes of Heroica are very capable and I still feel any person or item will be safe with true Heroes of Heroica!" Singerson presented the Needlessly Large Rod. "That is why I am entrusting you with this." Singerson hands the Needlessly Large Rod to Elgar. ...while Arasmyth's spirit temporarily possesses his body? Sorry, lost the capablility to take pics a long while ago in quest. "It is the second of three items that I am searching for. I don't mind handing it over for safe keeping. And don't worry about selling it or giving it away to another hero. I was able to track it to a city full of fanatics, I'm sure I can track it to whatever hero or merchant ends up with the item." Needlessly Large Rod (Non-Artifact Item) - Upon use, curses a random enemy. Usuable once per battle. Does not prevent free hits. Singerson skips down the tunnel then stoops. "My lute! Has it been floating here the entire time? Wowo!" Singerson exits the tunnel and leaves the city of Nahrees. With their employers slain for the life of a scumbag's daugther, the Party head out the sewer tunnel and through the unknown forest. They unseen magical portal spits them out northeast of Eubric next to a very large farm. QM Note: The quest is now over. You may return to Heroica Hall. Yes, indeed it was a shame the Maa'ri were unable to be retrieved. The camera slowly travels back down the sewer tunnel, through the market area, down the stairs of the Apothecarium and into the Archivist's room. The bodies have been cleared yet blood still remained on the floor. The camera continued through a closed bookcase revealing a secret room behind it. As the camera pans across the room, the viewer realizes the room is a ginormous laboratory. Strapped to two tables are the bodies of Ranger and Rogue. Hound's head is floating in a jar nearby. The Archivist can be seen walking in the background. The scene quickly crossfades to the Archivist walking down a hallway with large maturation tubes lining the walls on either side. Each houses a humanoid figure floating in a glowing sand purple liquid. He begins speaking to no one in particular. "My army is near completion." The scene cuts to a close up of one of the magical stasis pods to reveal a sleeping orc who shares the appearance of the Maa'ri's warrior leader. The camera slowly zooms on the creature's face when his eyes flash open and glow red. "Akkaba's will, be done." [ EPILOGUE ] QM Note: The role of Jules the Dworc is now being played by Sarah Tarnackle. Jules pick-pocketed her way through the city and outfitted herself with weapons and some clothing before heading out of Eubric. She continued to run NEish into a forest where she watched a strange band of women pass before she went on her way to continue her career as an assassin. Back in the city of Nahrees, the Akkaban merchant is discussing renovation plans with another character... "'Ey, so they tell me you are best for this job. I am thinking of creating an underground level to my shop that will feature a new type of tavern. It will be a place that is open late at night that provides entertainment with minstrels and hired dancers as well as a floor for commoners to dance as well. Food and drink will also be served. I'm thinking...maybe 60 by 40 studs. Could call it a Night Tavern or a Gentleman's Inn. Can ye do it?" - "Of course but it'll have to be done later. I have some kids to babysit." The End?
