dr_spock Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Over on ANZFOL this topic has scored 10001 views......and that's on a site that gets two or three visitors an hour. I better get cracking on what's next in my town then eh ? What are you still doing here? Get busy building. Do you have shows coming up to display? Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 What are you still doing here? Get busy building. Do you have shows coming up to display? But I like being here. Yes, I'm building again...having a little trouble on a final design for the police station, as I want to do something slightly different to the last one. Any suggestions ? Oh, yeah....shows, I must contact Railshow to see if I'm still need for Railshow 2013. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 9, 2012 Author Posted September 9, 2012 Just a little update, parts are starting to come in for the custom build for 'Free Spirit' in Tasmania but that leaves me with a problem of lack of 16x16 plates....oh, well I'm a technician so I'll work something out. I only have 25 supports to go before I rebuild the Target which might go back in the town....me and my big plans eh ? I should have another quick build up with a day or two.....I hope so keep watching. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 I made some more roadway changes, the main street is just that a main street. The cross intersection is just a side road between town centre proper and businesses on the fringe of the town, plus the short road across the rail tracks. When I score some more cash I can buy more 48x48 plates, I could only buy one this week....oop's I need a stack of 8x16 tiles again ! I'm thinking of a fuel depot next to the builders supply yard, plus still I must work on the cop shop, etc., along side of the block of shops. Sadly I might have to send my rebuilt row of shops to Tasmania for 'Free Spirit' as I said money is a problem at the moment. Any suggestions are very welcome.....keep watching ! Quote
Kristel Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 This is a great little town, but I always thought it was missing something. It has finally come to me ... where's the cars? It needs at least one beat-up old ute with a kelpie or cattle dog in the back. Quote

Yeah, I know I need more ute's (ah, they are all at the pub or muster ).....sadly also Lego hasn't made border collies or other working dogs yet. Tomorrow I'll try to have another ute up and running....keep watching ! Quote
Artifex Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 It's looking sharp, LT! You and your kid must be having loads of fun! Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Huge work Tiger, the newsagency has a great look that totally rock me! Superb work with the fence at the edge of the railway! Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 Thanks for the feedback 'LT12V' and 'Artifex', I will try and have more work done today if I find the time....updating as soon as possible. Quote
TheWarden Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 My curiosity has gotten to me as you mention your cash flow sometimes. Do you buy all new parts for each project? Do you keep all your old towns together? If you buy sets, do you part them out for future use? Do you sort? You seem to get parts you need soon - how? Bricklink? LEGO Pick a Brick near you? I hope I am not being rude, but you seem interesting. Quote

I buy extra sets sometimes, wreck older MOC's or sets constructed that have out lived their purpose and I buy my parts from Toy Corner....they have a huge spare parts wall ! Now back to work on it.....more later. Quote
LegoJalex Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Your main street looks great! It really is a special kind of atmosphere in it. Btw the stickers that you are using, what kind of print paper are you using? Is it a transparent kind? Quote
Roboevil Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 It's looking real good now it's put all together, keep it up. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 Thanks for the comments 'Roboevil' and 'LegoJalex', I used photo sticker paper for my stickers. I'm still trying to work out a practical fuel depot.....small office, bowser, storage area with drums of oil....etc,. Any suggestions are very welcome. Quote
LegofreakKO345 Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Hallelujah! It's been some time since you last posted on your town. But my eye got something. Are the roads brick built? Any way, your town is still great. Quote

Any way, your town is still great. Yep, 8x16 tiles plus tiles for filling in spaces and line marking the roads. Cost a lot but it's worth it.....I feel it looks better and I can get a more realistic Aussie style road/street by doing it this way. Keep watching.....keep suggesting ! Quote
LegoJalex Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 I used photo sticker paper for my stickers. Thanks! I will see if I can find those. Can you use an ink jet printer for those? Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 Thanks! I will see if I can find those. Can you use an ink jet printer for those? Yes, I use a Canon ink jet printer.....those sticker sheets would come from an office supply store or a retailer that stocks different kinds of photographic printer paper. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) I've had to make some design changes...some small, others will be greater. Note the bushes spacing and in the far distance.....quite hard to see....sorry ...the road along side of the bank has become a divided road. More tomorrow.....suggestions, comments, etc., still welcome. Edited September 20, 2012 by lightningtiger Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I spot a hole in the gable wall of the landmark building........ Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 I spot a hole in the gable wall of the landmark building........ Yeah, I noticed that as well.....I didn't slide the roof on all the way I'll fix that today. Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 21, 2012 Author Posted September 21, 2012 A street view from another angle.....the row of shops base plate is underway....waiting on extra parts. Keep watching ! Quote
lightningtiger Posted September 26, 2012 Author Posted September 26, 2012 (edited) Disaster I was travel alone yesterday in my car with 90% of New Mannum in it's crate on the back seat.....I had to brake suddenly so I didn't ram someone.....and yeah, that didn't stop someone hitting me ! At least my car is going to get fixed by insurance.....but now only today did I do an inspection the crate....yeah, I've just finished rebuilding the bank, post office...still the hardware store and Landmark to go. I'll be posting fresh pictures of interiors and exteriors from different angles.....keep watching ! Edited September 26, 2012 by lightningtiger Quote
meyerc13 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Yikes. Hope you're okay. Cars can be fixed, and if you are going to have an expensive toy or model in your backseat during an accident, LEGO is probably the best choice since whatever comes apart can be fixed and actual broken pieces are quite rare. I'll bet that's one test that LEGO doesn't use to test their bricks during QA. Quote

I better get back and work on the hardware store... Quote
