Jackattack7 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I wonder where the allegiances of the bears and rhinos will lie. I'm thinking the food-loving bears will side with Laval and the warlike rhinos will go with Cragger. I think the rhinos will side with the wolves, as seen in the bid. Besides it says in the command ship description that rawzom is a raven allie, so the ravens are with the crocs. Quote
Omega 8 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 This would carry a lot more weight he himself wasn't already vulturing somebody else's work. This is also far from the first time that when licensing talks broke down a company took their preliminary work and salvaged it to convert it into its own stand alone concept. "World of Warcraft" anyone? (I bet Games Workshop still spends nights drunkenly ranting at the sky over that one.) What work is Norton and Co. vulturing? I'm asking sincerely, not being sarcastic. PenPlays Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Never thought Laval would sound so... young. -Sci Well he is a young Lion Prince. It's more Cragger's voice that I find... odd. Quote

CM4Sci Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Ditto about Cragger. It sounds like it should be... Crooler... Ehh, I like it. Also, it seems as if I can scratch/peel off that silver strip on my wheel. There's still some on there, but I'm making progress! -Sci Quote
PenPlays Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Oh, and I just managed to watch the beginning of the trailer. My computer can't even load the rest. Could someone find a link on another site for the preview. Quote

Then I guess the trick is to just Speedor on a clean surface (how clean, I wonder?). Oh, and I just managed to watch the beginning of the trailer. My computer can't even load the rest. Could someone find a link on another site for the preview. Just try at a time where there's less traffic. 7 in the morning, for example (if you get up that early. I was on at that time today and didn't have any problems. But then I had the advantage of the time change). Edited January 4, 2013 by Kai NRG Quote

The internet in this area is great, I don't know why is takes so long. -Sci Quote
PenPlays Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 For me it is EVERY SINGLE VIDEO on Lego.com. I wanted to watch the monster fighters story so bad on Lego.com. Didn't get past two words. Chima, eh... 6 seconds maybe. Enough to hear Laval and Cragger at least. Quote

If you're game for waiting, that is! Quote
Gatanui Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 I'm having the same issues with videos on LEGO.com. -Gata Quote
Kalhiki Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Same issue with videoes. Decided to just watch the new trailer anyway with it pausing every three seconds. Kalhiki Quote
Gatanui Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 At least it's good to know it's not an issue on my end. ^^ -Gata Quote

TheLegoDr Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 So I had no interest in this theme and I doubt I will pick anything up for 2013, but if Rhinos and gorillas and bears are true, I will definitely buy into it then. For some reason those molds are more appealing to me than what is currently offered. The crocs and lions underneath the mask look good, but the masks seem odd to me on them. I'll have to wait and see what I think if I hold one in my hand. I haven't looked at any other media for this theme and I skipped the last few pages, even though I've read basically everything else about it (and I'm not even interested...weird). Quote
Faefrost Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) What work is Norton and Co. vulturing? I'm asking sincerely, not being sarcastic. Vulturing may be too strong aterm and I apologize for it. But the fact is that he himself is a work for hire type brought in to work off of someone else's IP and designs. All of his stuff is derivative of the original 80's stuff. Granted that's what he was hired to do. But he tends to lose me in his arguments when he complains that Lego lifted his background world with the floating rocks... Which mysteriously looks exactly like a dozen other SciFi tropes over the past 30 years, with Cameron's Avatar being the most obvious. Chima probably did start from some rough design work begun as part of a Thundercats project. That really doesn't matter. This is the two edged nature of licensing. Once you begin the process you had best see it through, because if it falls through the licensor owns the work they created, and may rework, recolor, re IP, and re market it as they see fit. Lego doesn't have to abandon all of their design work if the deal falls through. Those parts that were not directly and clearly that's IP may be used however without conflict, without shame, and certainly without criticism. Edited January 5, 2013 by Faefrost Quote
Meiko Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Sorry but I must be missing something. Where have we heard Laval and Cragger's voices? Quote
just2good Posted January 5, 2013 Author Posted January 5, 2013 Those voices do sound weird compared to the figures, and will take sometime getting used to. Also, I just found out my Longtooth figure is misprinted: Compare to the official figure. Quote

Savage Oppress Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I bought Laval's Royal Fighter today from Toys R Us at their crazy price of 49.99 when the original price was 39.99. Quote
PenPlays Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) @Savage Oppress Don't open it, return it, and find, and buy it somewhere else! Edited January 5, 2013 by Penkid11 Quote

Also, I just found out my Longtooth figure is misprinted: Compare to the official figure. Is that official figure you linked to one of the ones sold early on eBay? In looking at the images publicly released by LEGO of Longtooth, they all look very much like the one you have. Maybe there were last-minute changes to the print job at the factory, and the eBay one was merely a test? Quote
