Good Cragger Fan Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Um, it kinda wouldn't be online now because have you ever considered that LEGO likes to keep things secret? This is why I hate secrets that have absolutely nothing to do with birthday/wedding/aniversary/Chistmas gifts and/or suprises. Thus, I long for the return of the yearly product catalogue booklet in every LEGO set, like it was the case before 2004 (and no set was an "Exclusive" set back in the 1980's and 1990's, so every set was shown in the yearly catalogues that came in every set that was or will be available then in that particular market sometime during that particular year). Besides, why does LEGO make the video so far in advance of it being available on the internet to the general public? Quote
deskp Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Besides, why does LEGO make the video so far in advance of it being available on the internet to the general public? Its optiman to perhaps amke the video as close to the time the set was deisgned as possible so the designer still ahs the process fresh in mind.. it's a bonus atleast. Lego uses like a 6 month buffer on mots things they do before showing the public x] Rumors/questions keeps people talking longer than answers does. thats why this forum got fairly quiet after toy fair. Now we're just waiting for SDCC and whatever lotr/hobbit set reveal that brings. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 (edited) Just as an aside, it appears that Attack on Weathertop is silently making an exit. It's sold out on the U.S. Lego S@H site, Target.com, and Walmart.com. If anyone has been putting off buying this one, now may be the time to do so. Edited April 9, 2013 by The_Chosen_1 Quote

WEREWOLF Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Care to elaborate on where you've found these on clearance? Walmart one of the biggest ones in California had them for $40, i think they only have 1 left and all the $60 Mines of Moria are gone. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Hm...interesting. I've actually heard some other reports of Walmart clearances, but it appears to be hit or miss. I'll be sure to swing by my local stores this week just to make sure. Quote
The_Creator Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Glad I got Weathertop after Christmas for 20% off! I would like to get Mines of Moria though… Quote

Leo604 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 The Corsair ship looks more enticing than ever. Quote
KristofBD Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 The Corsair ship is waay cooler than I first thought. It will actually be my first lego ship. Regarding the Black Gate, it's a shame the interior is rather plain. But the figs and the build will probably make up for that. Very cool sets thanks! Quote
Fives Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Amazing! Thanks GRogall! The Corsair Ship looks pretty awesome, and while it does have the Three Hunters, it still offers some very tertiary heroes and villains. The King of the Dead is absolutely stunning! As for the Black Gate, the gate itself is a little lacklustre, but the figs and eagle more than make up for it! Gandalf is perfect! It's a shame there aren't up close pics of the Mouth and Aragorn. Can't wait to see the next two sets! Quote
SMC Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I thought I just wanted 2 black gates so I could make one big one but I am really starting to like that ship. LOTR Lego keeps doing this to me, I think I know which few sets I want and which I don't need then the more I think about it the more I like/need them. Didn't like the look of 79002 Attack of the Wargs at all but now I want the wargs and Thorin Oakenshield so I might as well get the set rather overpay on ebay or bricklink and get some nice orcs and a tree too. But I have to remember the more I buy the more the wife will kill me when Orthanc comes out and I get that too. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 The Corsair ship looks pretty cool and worth some money, but the Black Gate is terrible. It's just a crummy thin gate, and since it has such a 'high level of detail,' it has a ton of parts and a high price tag. Three out of five minifigures are new and nice, as is the Eagle, but honestly there are so many better sets for the same amount of money or less. I'd really like to see more LotR sets that have some substance. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Thanks so much for sharing, GRogall! The sets look absolutely incredible! I can't wait for pics of the other sets, and more importantly -- Orthanc! Quote
Kez Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) Thankyou so much GRogall, the ship looks awesome but the gate is a must buy (pain for the wallet). Hope to see more images of the LOTR sets (Orthanc would be great but I doubt it) EDIT: It turns out that that dark red on the gate appears to be brown. (To my bad eyes anyway ) Edited April 10, 2013 by Kez Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I plan on ordering the entire wave (perhaps even two of the Black Gate) on Day 1 from S@H. Bring on June!! Quote
Blakstone Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 GRogall, thanks for the pics and I second the request of a close up of the Mouth of Sauron. I have longed planned on skipping the Pirate Ship Ambush as I build scenery and buildings but it has won me over. Quote
