SMC Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 ok so there mush be pictures some where right? need to see the new Orcs. The Ambush is a £20 set right? and comes with 2 new orcs with hair pieces and what is the other fig, surly £20 for 3 figs is too much for a arm builder. And the Mirkwood Elf Army the real amy builder does not have Hair Pieces? That not as good then. Quote
Blakstone Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Durins Bane, I take it that you have actually seen photos of these sets then? If so, I am greatly relieved as I like your description of the new orc designs. Not only do we get new prints but we can avoid the complaints of the first Hobbit wave and second Lord of the Rings wave about the reuse of orc prints. Quote

Only orc hair pieces are in ambush. Mirkwood elf army Has thranduil with crown/hair mold, 2 hooded elves, and one elf with a hair piece. they are all armed in dark green. they do not look like the elves from the trailers. Yes the new orcs are either dark tan in color with white war paint and bone shoulder armor spikes, or they are medium flesh? Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 @Durins Bane: Sounds great Can you confirm Radagast, Azog and/or Bolg in 79014? Quote
Durins Bane Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 @Durins Bane: Sounds great Can you confirm Radagast, Azog and/or Bolg in 79014? No Bolg in any sets. Radagast has a new hat/beard mold. Azog, in fact looks identically to the comicon one. It is NOT white. It looks tan. The necromancer is black with green skull and muscles printed on him. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 (edited) Thanks a lot for the information! Radagast, Azog and the Necromancer, everything I could have wished for Too bad about Bolg, but I guess we'll get him in time One thing though: if Azog turns out to be tan in the final set, the poor people who bought the SDCC one for outrageous amounts of money will surely be aggravated big time Edited October 16, 2013 by Lego-Freak Quote

Lord Vladivus Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 @Durins Bane, dude that all sounds freaking awesome! I can't wait for the release now! Quote
Darth Caedus Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Disappointed that the Elves in Mirkwood Elf Army are not the armored design. That's pretty lame, considering that it was easy to armybuild hooded Elves from the polybag last time. If it's identical Elves to that, that will be extremely underwhelming of Lego, given that the polybag elf was just a basic rehash of the elf from Barrel Escape, except with a green hood that clashes with the color of the shirt. Good to hear we're getting new Orcs though - that's something. So it looks like this wave will actually be more of an Orc armybuilder than an Elf armybuilder. Acceptable, I suppose, given the poor treatment Lego has given Orcs thus far. I hope fervently that we'll see a set that can effectively armybuild any of the following in Dec. 2014: Lakemen, armored Elves, and/or Iron Hills Dwarves. Armored Gundabad Orcs sound pretty sweet, though. Durinsbane, what about the Nazgul in the set? Is he hooded and cloaked, or is he a Twilight Nazgul? A Twilight Nazgul would be incredible. Quote

A Twilight Nazgul would be incredible. Is there a nazgul?, pretty sure it's the necromancer that has been confused for a nazgul before. The elves shoud be the Guys from Tauriels crew, Not the olive green we already got. Edited October 16, 2013 by deskp Quote
Fives Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Shame there's no Bolg. He was the one I was most excited for. Regardless, I think this wave will be epic. Quote
namioik Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 (edited) The "nazgul" is actually the necromancer The necromancer is black with green skull and muscles printed on him. Deskp beat me to it Edited October 16, 2013 by namioik Quote
Darth Caedus Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Yeah. Then I'm assuming the 'warrior with a big a red beard' is one of the Orcs, then? Quote

I kind of need some kind of pedigree information before I can believe your information. I am sure you are a trustworthy person but i am naturally a skeptic. Quote

The necromancer is black with green skull and muscles printed on him. Spectacular!!!!!! Azog and radagast. Wow necromancer sounds cool! I guess he will appear in more of a physical form after all in desolation then as he is the antagonist of this set from what I can tell from your comment splendid! So let me get this straight Dol Guldur battle (the big set) includes: 2 orcs (new gundabad), radagast Gandalf, azog and the necromancer? That's awesome! Quote
Darth Caedus Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 (edited) We can start complaining again next year when they reuse the gundabad orcs insidead of giving us proper armored ones as seen in the trailer and vlog. Reuse is only an issue when it becomes pervasive. Let's take a look at the history of the Lego Orc: The Lego "orc" has been done to death - originally a design only really applicable to the set it was featured in, The Orc Forge. All other enemies in the original LOTR wave were set appropriate: Uruks at HD, Moria Gobbos at Moria. Then you had AUJ, with these Orcs showing up essentially the same as Azog's warg riders. Disappointing. Then it got egregious - identical Orcs, minus the hairpiece that made them at least passable, as baddies in the Corsair Ship and Black Gate. Uruk-hai look the same, that's the point - Orcs should not. Lego also never even gave them different helmets or armor, just recycling Uruk armor and shields. According to Durinsbane's description, there is some variation in the Gundabad Orcs, and that's good enough for me - variation has been sorely lacking in Lego's Orcs to date. Now, if we got 3 *more* sets with identical Orcs to the ones that come in this TDOS wave in the TABA wave next year, I could see some cause for complaint. But that will depend on how good the Orcs in the TDOS wave look, so until we get pictures, we can only speculate so much. Edited October 16, 2013 by Darth Caedus Quote
Durins Bane Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Yeah. Then I'm assuming the 'warrior with a big a red beard' is one of the Orcs, then? There is no big red beard on anyone. Beorn looks silly with a weird hair/muttonchop mold Quote
Mr Breden Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 Sounds great, Durins Bane I like the sound of these minifigures. Can you describe the stuctures in the sets though, especially the Dol Guldur sets. Quote

Beorn looks silly with a weird hair/muttonchop mold Does dol guldur battle include: gandalf, radagast, azog, necromancer, + 2 gundabad orcs? instead of big red beard, perhaps a smaller beard, thats some kind of blonde with red/orange bits in? Fives Posted October 16, 2013 Posted October 16, 2013 DurinsBane, it sounds like these images you saw are the official LEGO images likely to be released this week at LEGO World in Amsterdam (fingers crossed that it happens). We were told that the prelims specifically had two characters, one from each Dol Guldur set, with red hair/beards. If this has changed, then it confirms the exclusion of a Bolg originally planned for release, and that Beorn's prelim fig used red hair as stand in for the new mould. Were any of the images you saw blurry or watermarked? Quote
