I said yes, but before I read "someone" and in that case I would have to see it. If made by Lego I wouldn't hesitate. Otherwise I would try to make them myself, and I will do so, if I ever get back on track with my flying ducthman. I'll try some brickbuilt designs and minifig shuffling before I use clay molding though.

If someone made minifigures of Davy Jones and his crew, following the same torso/head priniple as the Chewbacca minifig, would you buy them?

I saw a custom Davy Jones mini-figure on eBay the other day but as it didn't interest me I didn't watch the auction. That also means I voted "No" but I'm don't really understand what the "Not Really" vote means.

AAAAARGH!!! I cannot find that custom Davey Jones mini-figure I saw on eBay the other day. If only this thread were created a few days earlier I would have saved the image from the auction!

Well, in all honesty, here be the reason why I made this here inquiring poll...

imga0299.jpg

I am currently in the process of sculpting Davy Jones and most likely his crew. When I am finished I intend on molding them and putting them up for sale. Davy Jones will be in three peices - Head and beard, claw arm, claw leg. In this picture, I have yet to sculpt his hat, mutton chop tentacles, or back-of-neck octosack. I am debating making decals for his eyes or sculpting them. I think I may sculpt them.

That is amazing Admiral. You should make molds once it's done, and sell it, tough instead of 3 peices, it ocul be one, pre-painted one... i know i'd buy...

Edit: I just read the est of your post about selling them. Silly me...

@Norrington: Hehe :P While the peices themselves would be pre-painted, I dont think I could supply the rest of the minifigure :/ Basically, im thinking just a straight black minifigure would probably do best. Also, you can see a little bit of other stuff i've painted to the left and right.

Looking at some more pictures of Jones, I think I will scrape what I have on the side of his face off and re-sculpt it so that it looks like actual cheekbones - Ill probably add a brow, too :)

Sadly, as you can see there, I really screwed up the mustache tentacles and the lower jaw. Furthermore, I think the tentacles might look better if they were thinner and spaced out further. So I may end up simply tearing all this off in the end anyway :P This is my second SERIOUS attempt at green stuff sculpting and one of my intentions in doing it is as practice for when I start working on my Golden Demon entries this year. (The Golden Demon is a very prestegious and premier miniatures painting competition)

POTC 2 was horrid!!!

Yes Davy Jones and crew looked cool from some perspective but I don't think I'd buy the minifigs as I am still in mourning for how bad the film was in comparison to the first movie!

I waited months and months to watch that movie because I was too busy travelling and when I finally bought the DVD and watched it I really considered taking it back to the store to get my money back! >:-(

I rather build realistic pirate MOCs, instead of POTC MOCs, but if there were some very nice Davy Jones & crew minifigs, I might buy them...

After seeing LA Ravensdorn custom Davy Jones, I'm sure I'l buy one!! :-P
