Just got back from the movie... it was fantastic, but a couple of things bothered me. Ant-Man barely appeared after the airport battle scene, and Black Widow just kinda disappeared from the movie after giving Tony a cryptic warning. I also think it was a bit overstuffed, but it was better in that respect than AOU or BvS.

Uh....that's because Antman was in prison after the airport battle...and BW vanished because she's now being hunted by the Government for betraying them.

I'm seeing it tomorrow!! Super super hyped, but I will be severely pissed if Cap doesn't die. And from the ESP I've been getting I don't think he does! :cry2: Very happy I've avoided spoilers pretty well, so this will be like the Force Awakens, a fresh interesting movie experience.

Death spoilers:

Cap lives. No one dies. Rhodey gets paralysis from his fall, but Tony makes him neural leg stuff so he can learn to walk again.

Zemo kills 5x Winter Soldiers, 1x T'Chaka, 1x Russian, 1x Bucky Barnes body double and Bucky kills 2x Stark parents.

Yeah I was trying to say "no deaths within the Avengers/main cast." I did forget about T'Chaka though, and Howard Stark and his wife might count to since we flashback to their death. But from the main team, no dead bodies.

Heck we met Spider Man and didn't even see Uncle Ben die... (I liked that though, why waste time on the same story being retold?)

Oh and don't forget the like 30 bystanders Crossbones/Wanda blew up.

It was seventeen, if I remember. Not thirty.

Oh yeah I've seen it now, guys! I can join you hear in your bustling center of Civil War goodness! I absolutely loved it! Marvel (again!) knocked it out of the park.

@Ultron: Fair enough, but they could at least have shown a little bit of what she's doing... that movie could have used a "Where Are They Now?" montage like Winter Soldier did.

Also, the end credits scene with Spidey was hilarious.

I know this is very silly to discuss but:

I think on one of the TV reports it shows a number of about 34 as the total casualties. The 17 were the Wakanda delegates. Or at least, that is what I remember... Does anybody else want to check to see the exact number? :D

Really great, solid movie overall. Cap was the best he's ever been. Bucky worked out well. Falcon was surprisingly good. Widow was a great support piece. Ant-Man and Spidey stole the show. Scarlet Witch felt redundant in her storyline. Vision was great, but needed something to bring him into the fold, because he felt like he was on the outside too much.

Iron Man was the only one I felt was alittle off. I think they needed to focus on him and what he's going through more in order to really drive his plot points.

In any case, still one of the best MCU movies.

Saw Civil War last night.

Wow what a great movie! The action in the movie is some of the best in comic book history. I love how they don't just say Cap is right and Tony's wrong, I still can't choose a side, if I had to I think I would choose Cap's team. I thought Baron Zemo was a great villain, though I think they should have named him something else. Hopefully he comes back in more movies with the purple mask. Spiderman is the best Spidey ever, and I can't wait tell Homecoming. They set Black Panther up perfectly, and I also can't wait for his solo movie. I think it's a bit weird that no one died during the civil war. Crossbones, Agent Carter, and T'Chaka all died before the civil war. The worst thing that happened to a character is that Rhodey became paralyzed. I'm glad it did not end with the Avengers teaming up and fighting Baron Zemo, instead the Avengers are separated.

My new ranking of the mcu is now this.

1. The Avengers

2. Captain America: Civil War

3. Captain America: The Winter Solider

4. Guardians Of The Galaxy

5. Iron Man 3

6. Iron Man

7. Avengers: Age Of Ultron

8. Antman

9. Thor

10. Captain America: The First Avenger

11. The Incredible Hulk

12. Thor: The Dark World

13. Iron Man 2

So at the end,

during the Cap/Iron Man fight, I thought I saw Tony shoot a hole through Cap? Was I right or wrong in this? It's pretty inconsequential, all things considered, but it'd be nice to have some sweet confirmation of how tough Cap is.

don't know the total number, but I'm 99% sure it was 11 wakandan delegates

Cap does take a repulsor blast to the chest, but it doesn't go through him. You see a wound/tattered suit as he helps Bucky up at the end.

Yeah, only Bucky took a powerful arc shot which went through him, just not his chest

I feel like I comment on here everyday now, anyways, I have a question. Does anyone know how much screen time every character had? I felt like they did amazing with all the characters being balanced, but if anyone knows, please put it here.

Posted

I don't know the exact screen time, but I did read something funny that Spider-Man had more lines in Civil War than Supes had in Bats Vs Supes. That's amazing.

Posted

Wow, really? That's hilarious, I'm going to have to watch bvs again and see how many lines supes has. I rememeber seeing the screen time for each character in AoU, and Thor had the least screen time. That's why I'm curious about this movie.

^That sounds about right... of course, Superman was the "strong, silent, angsty" guy in his movie and Spidey never actually shut up, but still. Jokes like this are commonplace... who remembers the thing where it says "This guy (Rocket Raccoon) saved more civilians than Superman did in Man of Steel."

Hulk had just as much lines as Thor.

Yeah it's something like that. I would say it's the best fight scene ever in the MCU. It hasn't got a shakey camera, it's easy to follow everything that's happening.

Best film ever guys. Just remember if your looking for an adaptation of the comic series, it's nothing like that but it's still an amazing film that has me pumped for more Panther, more Spidey, more Ant Man, more Avengers

I thought it was a fairly accurate portrayal, sans characters. It took quite a few cues, the biggest one being the reason for the divide.

Civil war is a pretty big exaggeration honestly.

I feel they could have saved that title for the future after more heroes were introduced.

I don't think it was that big of an exaggeration, it was a decent sized team involved. It would've taken forever to get a team introduced to even begun to rival what was in the comics. Plus, other studios own key characters.

Spidey was fantastic. His quips during the fights. His personality. Holland delivered him great. Looking more forward to Homecoming now. I noticed the bald chick, presumably Wakandan, who looked suspiciously like the scene from the cave we had prior to Age of Ultron... I wasn't really blown away with Panther, his (suit wearing) introduction seemed oddly placed. Maybe they'll dig into that in his movie...although that is some time away.
