Sam892 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Ok so here's my thoughts on Cap 2 with spoilers, so don't read if you don't want the film spoiled!!!! Overall the film was great,Winter Soldier was badass, but if I'm honest he needed more screen time.It was a bit lame with the whole reveal around agent Sitwell. I got the feeling they were going to give him a better role in the future, so its was disappointing to see him revealed to be a Hydra Agent and to kill him off. Also I'm a bit shocked that they destroyed SHEILD,I know it was revealed that they were secretly controlled by Hydra but it was shown there was still good Agents left. I get the feeling that SHEILD will return and either be led by Iron man or Maria Hill, plus where does this leave Coulson and are there any Hydra agents in his team? Also I get the idea that Zola becoming an A.I. is really important to Ultron, in fact I think Strucker is the one who creates Ultron. lastly the end credits scene with Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch was awesome and Sitwell mentioning Steven Strange was great aswell Quote

Faefrost Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 O Good lord, that was quick! 5 movie sequence, almost the same as last time. IM3 Thor2 Cap2 GotG Avengers2 I think phase 1 had one extra movie before they settled in to where they were going. Quote
Ultron Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 To those who have seen the movie: How much is Maria Hill in it? I don't want any spoilers, just want an answer. I can't imagine she has too much screen time. Quote

Tanma Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) I wonder what this disbanding of SHIELD means for the MCU. I mean I figure the governments formerly allied with SHIELD will divide up its resources, and Hydra will take what they can as well. But I doubt they can pull a Dark Reign yet, and I do not know enough about the other times SHIELD fell in comics to make further guesses. I kind of like that an established character was revealed to be in Hydra, it puts a lot of things in a new light. For one, it makes Simmons shooting him a lot funnier to me. But also it kind of shows how long this take over was, and makes other events suspicious. He was involved with keeping Abomination off the Avengers, now that we know he is in Hydra we have to wonder if he had his own plans for the Abomination. Hydra might have been planning to use him for a sort of Masters of Evil. And if SHIELD is destroyed, it would be easier to steal him from their prison... In other news Kelly Sue has just made Anya Corazon my fifth favorite Superhero. I knew I would like her if I found a good story. Which again makes me want to know if Sony or Marvel has her rights, or both. Because if Sony is going to try an Avengers-esque franchise (which seems like what they are doing with Venom and Sinister Six movies) they are going to need more superheroes. BlueberryWaffles Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Just rented Thor TDW to catch up before CA TWS. Movie: good Mandarin One-Shot: OMG YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS loved seeing Justin Hammer in it. Quote
Leo604 Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Not sure if this was posted already but it looks like Fox is making another Wolverine movie: http://ca.ign.com/articles/2014/03/22/third-wolverine-solo-film-sets-writer-jackman-expected-back Mixed feelings about this. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 If the villain doesn't end up like Silver Samurai, I'm fine. Quote
Mr Man Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 Well I'll expand on this more tomorrow, however I will say CA:TWS was beyond reproach, also explaining why AoS is a break until April. Quote
Ultron Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I don't think this has been stated, but a few days ago Amy Acker was cast as Coulson's love interest, Audrey the cellist, in agents of shield! Also, Patrick Brennan was cast as blackout in AoS as well! Quote
The Joker1 Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I just saw it too, Without revealing too much i will say it throws the dynamic of the marvel universe upside-down. Was a great film though and certainly as good as avengers. Also its nice to see a marvel film where the main baddie doesn't turn out to be some fool called Trevor. Definitely the best film in a while, Great action, Great plot with loads of twists and a good classic feel. A+ Quote
Mr Man Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I don't think this has been stated, but a few days ago Amy Acker was cast as Coulson's love interest, Audrey the cellist, in agents of shield! AS much as I like her, Joss really doesn't stretch out looking for actors does he . Quote
Mr Man Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Now some thoughts on CA:TWS Sitwell. A member of HYDRA or just following orders? I got the feeling the latter, even Rumlow didn't feel like a HYDRA goon, I think they were loyal to SHEILD, but to SHEILD with HYDRAS vision. I also think that HYDRA is being played by the Ten Rings or is part of it, I loved the reveal in IM3 (I would love it if Trevor IS the Mandarin, playing the TR, playing Killian, playing Trevor ). Project Insight was great idea, just me personally I always prefer Fury's views on security over Steve's, I'd rather be safe than private. Zola turned out to be more evil than Schmidt, also I loved the concept of the computer screens. The news report of Stark's death showed Dominic Cooper rather than John Slattery, but nice job tying them together to HYDRA. Now try explaining Zodiac, AIM, Centipede, Ross, the World Security Council, tie into SHEILD or HYDRA. Hill getting a job in Stark Industries . I wanted her in AoS. No Barton or Coulson? This would have been the perfect film for them, maybe a split in opinion between Romanoff and Barton, or Coulson and Rodgers. The whole Winter Solider was a bit boring really especially compared with the really interesting SHEILD / HYDRA stuff. Hehehe Sitwell is 'a great patsy' . Maybe sticking Agent Blake or Hand in the background would have been nice. I want Falcon for the Avengers, with War Machine / Iron Patriot, maybe replace Iron Man and Thor. Nothing against either of them, it just looks like Stark may retire soon and Thor can't keep dashing between dimensions every time there is a Thor or Avengers film. Well this will be a huge paradigm shift for AoS, however I get the feeling no one though to mention to Zack at the beginning of AoS what they were going to do in CA:WS, apparently Agent Garrett and Agent Triplett are meant to join the Bus's crew. May reported that Coulson knew, to a superior, who? Who cares in SHEILD now? Fury's left, Hills stepped out, Romanoff is making a new cover, Sitwell is dead, Barton is never mentioned, and Coulson obviously knows that HE knows, there are none left, unless it ends up being Hand. I haven't disliked any MCU film, but this is one of my favourites. It's now obvious what separates these Marvel films from the DC ones, these are dark (CA:WS got really dark) but still have lots of humour and feel like films of comic books, I haven't found a DC film that can emulate that yet (not to say ?I disliked The Dark Knight trilogy) Quote
Savage Oppress Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 (edited) Does anyone know if there are any Agents of Shield Easter Eggs in Captain America: The Winter Soldier such as The Clairvoyant showing his face or Agent Coulson and one of the Agents in the background. Because if Sony is going to try an Avengers-esque franchise (which seems like what they are doing with Venom and Sinister Six movies) they are going to need more superheroes. Anya is her own license, mainly as Arana. While she has on occasion guest starred in Spider-Mans books she is not a regular member if his supporting cast, villains or sidekicks. Sony would probably need to go back to Marvel to get permi$$ion to use her. She would not be a clear embedded part of the Spider-Man license. Even the black and white Spider-Girl/Arachne outfit she wears these days predates Spider-mans black suit and was more closely tied to the Secret Wars stuff. The way the licenses work, Jessica Drew Spider-Woman, Julia Carpernter Spider-Girl/Arachne, Anya Corazon Arana/Spider-Woman are all almost definitely outside of SONY's license. The Ultimate Jessica Drew Spider-Girl is borderline. And the Mattie Franklin Spider-Woman and future May Parker Spider-Girl could probably be used by Sony as direct Spider-Man properties. Quote

Anya's identities are Arana and Spider-Girl not woman, and Ultimate Jessica Drew's Identity is Spider-Woman not girl. Not sure about the others, but those two I really care about. But yeah, I just like to dream. I mean if I got to see Anya or Ultimate Jess on screen, that would be awesome. Ultimate Jess I could easily see adapted into a clone saga plot, and given that The Amazing Spider-Man series seems very science based she could fit in well. Anya is a little bit more iffy since her original powers were magic, but her second group of powers were engineered from the Spider Island plague. So she could work. But yeah, I realize now it is unlikely Sony could do her. I just don't think it is likely Marvel would do her, and with the fewer Superheroes Sony has access to I think she would have a better chance of appearing, if they had her. Though I guess since Marvel probably has Carol there is a chance. Quote

I think Arana has a better chance then most of appearing someplace like AoS or one of the new Netflix street level shows under development. Technically Sony only has movie rights for Spider-Man. TV and all merchandising reverted to Marvel. But I don't think Marvel will put out a conflicting TV version of Spider-Man so long as Sony is doing OK with their movies. A consistent Spider-Man in the public eye is more important to them than a TV show, just to avoid brand confusion. But a character like Anya would work well for their TV shows. She lets them play a bit with the Spider-Man world and branding, while steering clear of any conflicts of perception. They probably will not use Jessica Drew for that sort of thing as she is more desirable as an Avenger, or for use in the movies. The others are too situational or obscure to really use. The best of them would be Julia Carpenter. But there really is little functional difference between her and Anya beyond character age. Typical Hollywood thinking would have them going for the hispanic teenager over the white red headed single mom. Quote

Cammo Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Some stuntguy is doing a chase scene on the highway wearing the updated Cpt. America outfit: Quote
montgocloud Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 I am liking the new suit! A nice middle ground between the Winter Soldier and classic outfit. Oh, and some Agents of SHIELD rumors on how it ties in with TWS. "Nick Fury predicted that the Clairvoyant would try to bring down SHIELD from the inside, and tasked Coulson with creating an independent unit (the team on Agents of SHIELD) which could go off-grid when the time came" (comicbookmovie.com). This would give us a much needed reason for why Coulson was resurrected specifically. He was the only agent that Fury could trust with this mission. Quote
Faefrost Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 ...Isn't Julia Carpenter the new Madam Webb or whatever? That seems like a big difference. Well now she is. Before that she spent many years as a barely used D list character. The black suited Spider-Girl or Arachne. She was created in Secret Wars during the 80's. Bounced from title to title over the years from West Coast Avengers, to stuff like Omega Flight. I think she was in X Men as part of Freedom Force at one point? Really the best use of the character in her entire run as SG was probably in the Ms. Marvel Civil War story arc. (And even then a lot of what made that story good were her contrasts with Anya.) Since she has become Madame Web and handed off the black suit to Anya she is really more of a Spider hero supporting character. Yes she is more distinctive now. But you would not see the Madam Web character used except as a driving mechanism for one of the more mainstream Spider types, spider-Man, Spider-Woman or Spider-Girl. Actually thinking on it Julia as Madame Web is probably fair game for Sony to use in their ASM movies. She is now a Spider-Man supporting character. Quote
