Spoilers

Glad to see Deathlok isn't dead now, and that he had the chance to bite back. I would have preferred Garret die there, but I suppose that won't have been enough for theorists, so they made it more absolute. I wonder where he will end up now. Without Hydra he can't get repairs easily, he might end up looking more like the classic portrayal of Deathlok. We know he has a metal plate over part of his face, thanks to the scan Skye did, maybe some of his skin will be burned off to expose it.

But I have to say, whatever I guessed about the blue thing, I was probably wrong. Because going by how the two known users reacted, that thing isn't Kree. And on that note I thought Coulson had been going crazy, glad to see my thinking wasn't wrong.

AoS:

So Raina has been working for Skyes Father ( Or Mother? it looked like a man but I'm guessing her mom is there too?) Skyes dad was dripping like blood or some liquid. Any theories? I'm clueless. Is it Man-thing?? That's the only thing I can think of that would be watery I guess. Btw, pretty awesome episode. Although when Garret was getting rebuilt I was like, "O God...really..?" And then Coulson walked in and blew him up and I was like Wtf!? xD It was kinda funny but unexpected! Also, that algorithm thing Coulson and Garret were drawing..does that have comic book significance or was it just to show he's going crazy? So are the characters that Patton Oswalt played robots or clones or something? That part kinda confused me.

Some people are actually guessing Skye's father is a demon, going by the blood. It is possible I suppose, they have Ghost Rider back, though after the last two movies I would be surprised if they use him.

Yeah, I found that scene weird, I think it was there to prevent another #Coulsonlives. Because since Garrett's body seemed largely intact I'm guessing a lot of fans would have believed he survived, especially with the GH.325 in his veins.

I personally am unfamiliar with that design, but I am a fairly recent fan and I don't read a lot of major comics.

I'm guessing something like that, some people have guessed Life Model Decoys, which are robots SHIELD uses. It might be a clone since Simmons didn't seem to notice anything particularly weird about Eric's corpse, but the MCU already has organic robots in the form of the Human Torch, so who knows.

I searched a bunch of marvel demons, I couldn't really find any that have to do with "Blood, water, liquid, or dripping" But I did find a demon named Hydron? Or I was thinking maybe he's a werewolf? I'm not familiar with any, but it would explain the humanoid silhouette and also being described as a "monster that destroyed a village" I'll keep searching but that's the best I've got so far.

Maybe he is the "Real Manderian" as foreshadowed by"All hail the king" !

My thoughts

I took it that Raina has not been working for Skye's father. But had encountered him at some point in her quest for evolution. She went back to see him to bring him news that she had found his daughter. As far as who that father is? I still don't rule out Inhumans. There are a few that can be viewed as wet or slimy. Not the least of which would be Triton. The other possibility is it could be a Deviant. The mutated offshoots of the Eternals. I doubt that more because the Eternals and Deviants quite frankly do not fit well in the Marvel Comic Universe. They were Jack Kirby's stand alone creations that got hamfistedly shoehorned in, and always felt out of place and redundant. I don't think they will get too far into the Marvel demon universe or occult in AoS. Just not a good fit. They will save that for the Dr. Strange movie.

That language that Garrett was writing and we saw on the chalkboard in a previous episode is driving me crazy. I know I have seen it somewhere before. The chalkboard actually has two languages. Or one language and one set of alien mathematics. The vertical columns of glyphs look to maybe be Kree? But the other one with lines and circles has kind of a Jack Kirby feel to it. Maybe something related to the Celestials? It may also be nothing and just someones generic alien language hearkening back to or an homage to something. But as I said it just feels like something we have seen before.

(oh and BTW and on a side note, in trying to find any Marvel languages I did make a discovery. Apparently those who go through these shows frame by frame discovered what the mysterious TAHITI base was, and if this is true it would explain why Nick Fury knew of it and had access to it, but it wasn't SHIELD. In the Marvel Universe SHIELD has an even more secret offshoot/sister organization SWORD. That is specifically tasked with watching for, investigating and dealing with extraterrestrial threats. More or less the Marvel Universe Men in Black. (or woman in green in this case.) When the screenshots are blown up some of the symbols on the guards uniforms and computers are the SWORD logo. ) (side side note, The MCU does this alot and slips in unannounced unidentified things from the comic universe frequently. The best example is that large SHIELD installation that imploded at the beginning of Avengers? That was Project Pegasus. Knowing that, that long circular tunnel that Maria Hill was chasing Loki through makes a ton more sense. And it actually pretty well matches up to the comic facility.)

Now Raina is interesting. Granted we may be trying to hard, and she may be something completely new. But I almost wonder if she isn't set up to either be or lead into the High Evolutionary in some form? I think she is quickly becoming the most interesting mystery in the show in some ways.

Koenig is kind of obviously an LMD. Some sort of automated valet for Fury's secret bases. It's actually a brilliant move by Marvel's TV people. It puts the LMD's out there as existing. But sort of removes them for use as Deus Ex Machina's that they tend to be in the comics. The whole "he's not dead it was an LMD" thing. In this case, "Yeah, we can make artificial people. But look at this thing. We wanted Super Soldiers, but what we get is Patton Oswalt".

Garrett at the very end looked exactly as John Garrett looks in the comics. Full cyborg body normal head.

image3_large.jpg

Did anyone else feel like they left the door open for not simply a return of Deathlok but a potential Deathlok spinoff series? Or possibly a movie appearance? You line up Captain America, Winter Soldier and Deathlok you have three generations of "Super Soldiers" there's gotta be something they can do with that?

As far as Garrett's end? Kinda both hilarious, unexpected and a bit disapointing. It's obvious they didn't want to set up any real unsettled cliffhangers like him. But still I thought they were doing something cool with him like turning him into MODOK or something. The only real unsettled things are Fitz, Skye and Raina. They obviously did not know for sure if they had a season 2. They left enough to work with and closed off other things for now.

And hly crp! As I sit here writing this and rewatching the episode on the DVR so I can pause it, I just took a closer look at Raina's meeting at the very end. I think I figured out who that is? And if I am right it would fit PERFECTLY for AoS. I think we just met the season 2 Big Bad. Looking at the scene again it was not a hooded figure. It was a man in loose robes with white hair pulled back tightly, possibly in a classic asian style. His forearms and hands were wrapped in bloody cloth bandages.

within a spoiler no less

The Yellow Claw. One of the main top trio of classic SHIELD enemies (The other two traditionally being Hydra and AIM). I could be wrong, and normally he has no ties to the Kree or Inhumans etc. But it would not be a far reach in that neck of the woods. (maybe merge him with the fairly obscure previous King of the Inhumans "The Unspoken"?) Turn his normal imortality and super science into something alien related and there ya go. If it is him we may also see him used as an entry point to bring Shang Chi "Master of Kung Fu" into the MCU.

I somehow suspect we will see Ward again. From a SHIELD standpoint he is too valuable an asset to leave rot. I'm thinking something like Marvel's Thunderbolts under Warren Ellis, or DC's Suicide Squad. Have him lead a team of bad guys and nut cases on suicide missions.

Agents of SHIELD:

TVTropes says the language in Eye, Spy that was seen had sections written in Skrull.

All in all, amazing, hilarious episode. Interesting to see where they're taking this. More later.

SPOILERS

Maybe an injured Atlantian in regards to Skye's father?

Does anyone have a screenshot of this language? I've got comics with both (ancient) Kree and Skrull language to hand.

I'm wondering when the Maggia will turn up, either through AoS or the upcoming Netflix shows.

I would think the Maggia would either come in through the Netflix Daredevil show, or possibly via Iron Man by way of Courtney Frost / Madame Masque. Not really a good fit for AoS.

I would expect to see more classic SHIELD related villains. Or ones with one off relationships. We already have Hydra, and really Centipede is just AIM renamed to avoid confusion with Iron Man. But it sits in AIMs traditional place, an independent and not entirely on board sub creation of Hydra. I would expect to see foes like The Yellow Claw, the Serpent Squad/Society, Roxxon. Just a ton of B list stuff from the old Marvel Team Up and Marvel Two in One books. Etc. not so much the street level or organized crime stuff. That will be kept in reserve for Netflix.

See, I don't see them using Yellow Claw, because let's be honest, he's a little racist. His name is literally Yellow Claw. And even if they tried to update him to be less offensive, I think The Claw was used more recently, I would hope he would be in Agent Carter, since he is more of a Golden Age villain. Which reminds me, I wonder if the Agents of Atlas or Department Zero will exist in that show? They could end up being the inspiration for the Avengers Initiative.

On another note,

Could Skye be one of the New Men, or whatever it is that the High Evolutionary calls his "children?"

I rewatched the finale of AoS because I missed things that were mentioned here(playing Starcraft while trying to watch TV isn't always the best idea). I missed the symbols Barrett drew on the glass...I thought it may have been a language I've seen before after reading about it here, but it's not what I was thinking.

while my knowledge of L.M.D.s is limited, it doesn't seem that Oswalds character is one. Basing that solely on the fact that they have different names. Now, aren't L.M.D.s programmed as an exact copy of the person they're portraying? I think he may just be a clone created by Fury to oversee his secret bases.

I loved that episode! I was seriously freaked out when Garret got all robot-y, nice ending tho. It's cool we we got Sam Fricken' Jackson in an episode. So if he is in charge, coulson, then what does that say for future movies? It should be pretty interesting to see how he handles Ultron...

If SHIELD is ready by that point! But yeah this could be actually a really important step for the MCU and Coulson. He'll have to show up or at least be mentioned in the movies if SHIELD is built back up.

Also is it impossible to have a guy and a girl in TV that remain as just best friends? That's what made Fitssimmons good.

Agreed, I only ship Simmons with the GH.325. Such passion, she needed convincing to break the rules for Fitz, but for GH.325 she did it willingly. There was so much tension there, would they be reunited, or would Coulson continue to try to keep them separated? I was filled with grief when the GH.325 died before Simmons could tell them how she felt.

...I don't even know if I am being sarcastic anymore.

Marvel have announced that a new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy is to be released on Monday, and revealed this new poster:

Thoughts?

This poster is freakin awesome! Also I'm really excited for the new trailer because I'm pretty sure Gunn said the second trailer would focus on the villains! :D Not completely, but more so.

Let's hope we do see more of the villains and just see some more action in general this time to sway the doubters (numerous friends of mine aren't convinced that this will be good based on the trailer). The trailer is apparently being released at 10am PST (AKA PDT), which is 6pm in the UK, for anyone who wants to know.

Awesome, thanks! Hopefully I don't have to work Monday so I can see the trailer in all its glory when it's released  Yeah I hope the trailer has more action. Although they had me as soon as the mentioned Rocket, but still! I'd like to see Ronan wreaking havoc with his hammer.

Not a huge fan of Rocket's voice in that clip, but I think that is partially due to the fact that I've always read the comics with him having a bit of an Australian accent for some reason  I'm sure after this movie Bradley Cooper's voice will start to become the one I hear in my head when reading!

Got to see Winter Soldier on Thursday night and it was amazing; I only wish Bucky had a little more screen and personal time instead of just that one scene where he remembers the fall and having the metal arm surgery.

Also Silvestri's soundtrack was much better than Jackman's, I don't know why they switched. It fits the darker tone of Winter Soldier, but it felt weird without the main theme.

That was sort of the main problem I had with the film, despite it being called the Winter Soldier, it barely had any WS in it, the focus of the film was on SHIELD and HYDRA, the WS stuff just felt distracting.
