LegoSjaak Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 The transparent windows were previously mentioned as a bad point, but for me the "empty" round windows above these is worse than windows with glass. So I just put gold lattice pane in these: That's what I did for other modular buildings too (but with black ones) I think it looks better with these gold lattice panes ( http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=30046 ), I wonder why Lego does not include them in their buildings. And also why they do not make a glass for that window Luckily gold & black lattice panes can be found for cheap on BL. I also used the 6 gold lattice panes, i ordered them togehter with the Palace Cinema, after i read this post.. It only cost me Eur 0,66 extra. I was wondering though, if there are glass window panes, that fit in there.. Do they exist?? Greetz, LegoSjaak Quote
Redhead1982 Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Golden lattice looks just fine in this colour scheme with lots of golden details. I was wondering though, if there are glass window panes, that fit in there.. Do they exist?? Unfortunately, glass for this type of windows does not exist. Would be great if it did! Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Well, wow - my girlfriend just gave me this amazing set for my birthday! I now have my very first Modular set. If I'd bought a Modular myself I would have gone for one of the earlier ones that's likely to be discontinued soon, but since this was to be a gift it really had to be something "special" that pertains to my interests, which are dominated by the cinema, so this was really the ideal choice. I can't believe how lucky I am to have such a generous and perceptive girlfriend. Now to make room for it... Quote
Faefrost Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 My Wife blessed me with this one for my Birthday this week. I'm about halfway through and so far it has been a fun build. I'm already looking for ways to tweak it. (Hmmm! I wonder how hard it would be to get a set of stickers to convert it to 1977 Star Wars?) Quote
Bricktrain Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 I have built this this week also, it is a nice addition but not as inspired as the GG, FB or GE though in my opinion. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 (Hmmm! I wonder how hard it would be to get a set of stickers to convert it to 1977 Star Wars?) I've actually had almost this exact same idea! I've long wanted to build a recreation of the famous ceremony with Artoo, Threepio and Vader putting their footprints in cement in front of Grauman's in August of that year, and/or just have the movie playing at Grauman's or a Grauman's-like theater. Aanchir Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 What I'd love to see would be somebody taking the movie posters created for the LEGO Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings themes, converting those into flat colors like LEGO prints and stickers tend to use, and printing them as stickers for use as alternate Palace Cinema movie posters. Blondie-Wan Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I just posted this in Johan the Yellowhead's recent thread on custom movie poster stickers for this set, but this really should go here, too: I just today received the Fall 2013 Catalog (with the 10236 Ewok Village on the cover), and on page 23 it has the Palace Cinema, with a new little blurb that wasn't there in previous listings of the set - "Includes exclusive The LEGO Movie sticker, for a limited time only!" Paperballpark Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Thanks! It would be good to know if this offer will still be on (in the UK) in November, as that's when I'm planning on getting the Palace Cinema. Quote
Overcold Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 (edited) Now I'm going to have to buy a second one, but its a good set so I'm not complaining. Edited September 1, 2013 by Overcold Quote
kermit Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Is this only with the purchase of a palace cinema because I already have one. Would be nice for lego to make a sticker sheet of movie posters foe sale. Quote

sonicstarlight Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 I finally picked this set up last week. Here it is with my Empire Theater. Quote
snaillad Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Just built mine last week as well. Bit disappointed with the build personally but think it makes a good parts pack. First set I've ever bought with a damaged brick upon opening. Suppose it had to happen sometime! Quote
Paperballpark Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 Thanks GRogall! Nice to know the stickers will still be available when I purchase it in November :) That is, assuming it's for the UK as well as the US... Quote

Vindicare Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Just got the Fall catalogue and a LEGO movie poster sticker with this set for a limited time. I guess good things do come to those who wait. Quote

Blondie-Wan Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) Lucky you I already have the cinema. Well no, I bought it months ago myself... Well, despite what it says in the offer text quoted by GRogall, it turns out it's possible to get it for a previous purchase after all - at least, I was able to! I called TLG's customer service to ask about it on September 1st, the day after I got the catalog (I tried calling the evening before, but the offices were already closed by that time), and it turned out they had one loose one there in the office; the customer service person I spoke to promised to send it out Tuesday (since the day I called was Sunday, and Monday was a holiday here in the US, meaning no postal service that day). This was before GRogall updated his post with the image I've quoted below and the promotional terms; if I had already seen that, I probably wouldn't have tried, since it does specifically say "Cannot be applied to previous purchases." I'm guessing the individual I spoke to hadn't been briefed on that or something. After seeing GRogall's post I was afraid I wouldn't get it after all, but it arrived yesterday! I don't know whether they would do this again, though; it might be that I only got one because the CS rep had already promised me one before finding out they weren't supposed to give them away without purchases. In short, I consider myself very lucky to have been able to get the sticker for a copy of the set purchased more than two months ago. But you never know; it might still be worth trying for those of you who also got the set "too early"... About the sticker itself: Item # 5002891 It turns out the image here isn't just a promotional image for the sticker; this whole picture is what the full sticker sheet actually looks like. It's about the size of a regular postcard, and has this exact same pic with the minifigures on the sidewalk, and the LEGO Movie poster is just die-cut on the sheet so you can peel it away from the rest of the image. jimmynick Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 That sounds like a really clever way to present the sticker. I'm glad you got it after all, Blondie-Wan. Quote
