You just can't wait for pictures instead of posting pointless messages again, again, and again ?

Sorry, couldn't help myself. I think you are completely right though...

Yes I can : I am fed up with world class flooders.

Don't apologize for posting a great song while we're waiting. I miss Layne...

Geash, you guys over on the other side of the pond sure like to get you knickers in a knot, LOL. I was looking over the picture a little bit more, sure wish the boom was clearer. I wonder how they built it compared to the old 8421? Most everything is studless now so it will be very interesting how they came up with a 3 part boom and no stud bricks.

I wouldn't be surprised to see some studded bricks used on the new crane. The 8053 had 8 1x16 yellow Technic Bricks so I would expect to see some here too. I like the character of studded bricks mixed in with mostly studless construction.

Some info from brickset

Four sets are to be released, again in August:

  • 42001, Mini Off-roader, a very small model but with full suspension, orange body
  • 42005, Monster Truck, large wheels, hefty tyres, red body, full suspension. Not to my taste but it looked quite cool
  • 42008, Service Truck, £100, absolutely fantastic rescue vehicle, the sort you might see rescuing a lorry from the motorway. Green body, red highlights. Power functions, with motorised lift and outriggers.
  • 42009, Mobile Crane Mk II, £150. A ten wheeled moster of a mobile crane which looks superb. Said to be the largest Technic model ever in terms of number of pieces. It's equipped with Power Functions, including one of the new style motors, which look as if they operate all aspects of the crane's movement. I've gone off large Technic models a bit lately, but this is one I will definitely be getting.
Isnt service truck supposed to have pneumatic functions like preliminary picture said?Price tag is quite big for only power functions. And that hefty tyres for monster truck, arent they new?Or they are these http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=56908c01 .Lets wait and see.

Looking forward to the 42008 Service Truck!

But Yippiekayee MF....what about the new mobile crane!! The largest Technic set ever. Even more parts than the Unimog. The previous one got me out of my dark ages, plus I am a huge fan of big yellow construction sets, so this set will rock my boat!! Looking forward to it.

Service Truck, Mobile Crane, F1, Mindstorms....2013 is one helluva year for Technic fans.

Quiet confused it never mentioned pneumatics on the service truck? For a price tag of nearly €120 I'm expecting a lot :)

Any reason why we don't get pictures from the London toy show?

There is pneumatic, Huw mentioned this in comments.

Why there arent any photos from London? This TF is primary for retailers and isnt important as Nurenberg, where they want globally show sets, so i think is for this reason.

That's good to hear :) looks like we will get a compressor after all so!

I got a close look at the retailers catalogue today.

Bad news for anyone that expects Pneumatics with the recovery truck, It does not look like it has any! The thing in the prelim picture which looked like a pneumatic cylinder at the rear of the truck near the towing spectacle looks to me to be a Technic Shock Absorber. The total set appears to be powered by 1 medium motor.

Moving onto the technic crane, seeing a bigger picture, it's not the prettiest thing I've ever seen, but it looks big. It's powered by a single large motor, the stabilisers are the interesting part, they appear to extend by what might be a new part (new axle) as in the picture it looked to be made out of a 3D manufactured part possibly indicating the new mold is not ready? The 4 stabilisers then have at the end of each of them, a mini linear actuator pointing vertically downwards which is driven by this new looking axle. I'm not convinced this solution will have the strength to lift a couple of Kg of crane off the ground, but it certainly looks realistic.

Very disappointed I was really looking forward to the service truck. Was sure it had pneumatics :( are u 100% sure about this?

Edit just looked at the image again, there s a pic ur something yellow on the bottom left corner of the box and it looks like it says pneumatic where it normally does on the box???

@ Paul if u seen the catalogue could u not see this on the box, this set is ment too be €120 so it has to have something special!

The picture clearly showed a PF battery box and PF Medium motor and there was no reference to Pneumatics, I could be wrong and will happily eat humble pie, but I think everyone is going to be disappointed.
