bootz Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) The car in this set is one of the better of these new City cars with the truck tires, but those tires still ruin the look. What should be a nice sports car, almost reminiscent of an Audi GT and R8 imo. So I made a few changes to make it look like a sports car and less like the love child of a car and a Jeep. ResIpsaLoquitur Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Nice! It's amazing how a simple tweak can improve a set so much! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 That's better.....take note Lego......great little modifications 'bootz'.......Brick On Drive On ! Quote
mobricki Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Very good mod. I also find the overuse of the bigger tires annoying in official city sets. They need to start making them in more colors too. An orange and black sports car would make a great city set. Quote
Kristel Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Love your version. it's amazing how much more realistic it looks with the right tyres on! Quote
gazumpty Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Im with you Bootz, after emerging from my 'Dark Ages' I was appalled by the sheer scale nonsense of Lego using the same wheels for trucks and cars alike. Great work :D Quote

Until I saw your MOD here I wasn't really bothered by all the truck tires on my cars. Now it's like it's staring at me. Am I also seeing that you traded out the gray parts for white, or is that a trick of the lighting? Excellent modification -- subtle change(s) but really improves the look! They need to start making them in more colors too. That has been my refrain since I started getting LEGO again a year or so ago. Why are the cars so disproportionately red?! Quote
Luke Styer Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 I just noticed the white car in the background. Is that a MOC or is it from some set I don't recognize? Quote
bootz Posted January 12, 2013 Author Posted January 12, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the comments everyone. @ Luke, yes I did change the chassis of the car from dark bley to white. The dark bley looks so utilitarian to me, like it belongs on work vehicles. They need to make that chassis in more colors as well, black in particular. The chassis is another thing I dislike about this line of vehicles, its too bulky and you need the specialized fenders, the SNOT piece for the lights, and that 1x6 piece with the first and last studs that have the reverse angle. Classic town cars are much simpler to build and there was a pretty wide variety of chassis sizes and colors. And the white car is my Bolt Interceptor, technically a MOD of the police car from 4850 Spiderman's First Chase. That set introduced that type of construction for classic town scale cars(as far as I am aware) and I've been using it since. I have a thread for my town vehicles, I believe its on page 2 of this forum now. Edited January 12, 2013 by bootz Quote

I think it looks better as a civilian car than as a police car, which I can't really say for my converted police cars. I have a thread for my town vehicles, I believe its on page 2 of this forum now. I'll go looking for it! Quote
mobricki Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I love your white bolt interceptor and I think I might make a red or blue version for my city. Quote
