How much did it cost you? Quote

I didn't try to optimize number of orders & associated shipping costs too much but on the other hand i didn't buy some of the more expensive parts or at least not in the full amount. I will say it can definitely be done cheaper. Edited February 7, 2018 by sahidko Quote

Though if possible, I believe adding rocky terrain at the back so it's not empty would be a good improvement. Quote

Thanks but it's not really a MOC but original LEGO IDEAS submission by Rakrondewl https://ideas.lego.com/projects/7c014a00-ebcd-4290-bfa4-072c1cce3e6e who was so kind to release the LDD file to us. Yes i agree with the rocks however at the moment it just wouldn't fit into the shelf i have for it unfortunately. :) Maybe in the future. Quote
Shadeslayer Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Oh okay. Got it. I new it looked somewhat familiar....No matter where it's from, I still like it! Quote
ElectroDiva Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Time to bump this thread. According to Hollywood Reporter, the new Amazon LOTR series will be in production within 2 years, cost upwards of $1bn, with a commitment of at least 5 seasons. I think a reboot on this scale increases the chances of TLG revisiting the LOTR theme. Given the scale of their investment, Amazon will be going all out to market and exploit the franchise and we all know TLG loves a good licensed franchise tie-in. Quote
KristofBD Posted April 6, 2018 Posted April 6, 2018 Would be great indeed! Here's hoping that they include a proper Gondor faction! Quote

LOTR Lego did not sell well the first time, so exactly what is the rationale for bringing it back? Yes I know they missed key features of the story, I read through those threads while they were active. However, just because they're pouring money into a new show doesn't mean that it will translate well to Lego's market. We already got three full years of LOTR/Hobbit, expecting it to come back just seems a bit irrational to me. Also, I'm sure that Lego is considering the stuff that is talked about in this article. jdubbs Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 I too see a glimmer of hope that this new series will encourage LEGO to try again with a LotR line. The budget and 5-season commitment are definitely promising. I think the real question, though, is how and whether LEGO's license would extend to the new show, since it was theoretically negotiated with New Line, not Amazon, and whether Amazon's deal allows them to participate in merchandising profits. Lyichir Posted April 8, 2018 Posted April 8, 2018 Copying from a reply I made in the Future Castle Sets topic that might be even more applicable here... I think a big question about whether Lego would make sets based on the Amazon LotR series is not just how successful the show would end up being (since it may well have a more limited audience than the Lord of the Rings or even the Hobbit movies did), but also whether Lego's physical retail partners (Wal-Mart, Target, etc.) would be keen on stocking sets licensed from one of their biggest online competitors. If they objected to that then even if the series were a resounding success, we might not see much more than a single D2C set or the like since a good portion of Lego's distribution channels might be unwilling to carry the products. Target sells various Amazon products (Fire, Echo, Dot, etc.) some of which actually do facilitate shopping from Amazon... So I have a hard time believing they would object to selling sets LEGO licensed from an Amazon-produced show. Walmart does not sell Amazon's products, but it still seems like a stretch to me that they would successfully object... Walmart isn't (yet!) in the content-creation/delivery business, after all. LegoLord54 Posted May 7, 2018 Posted May 7, 2018 I really would love to see sets from the new tv series, however another factor behind us getting them is age rating. From what I heard so far there is a possibility that they may do the silmirilain and other first age stories (which by the way I really hope they do) but if this is what they do the stories may be much darker as for example in the children of Hurin has themes like incest and suicide, but only time will tell what happens.
