Sir Brickalot Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I fell in love with the Destructoid from day one, and it's even more tempting at £24.99! Rebooted is the best wave of Ninjago IMO. Quote
horizon Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 (edited) Rebooted is the best wave of Ninjago IMO. No it isn't. The skeleton wave is still the best because of: 1) Dragons 2) Architecture 3) Skeletons and them being funny Edited December 29, 2013 by horizon Quote
dviddy Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 No. LEGO has clearly intended NINJAGO to come back as a full-scale action theme, and there's a lot of evidence to support that. This wave has just been to test the demand of the sets and to see if it will bounce back from its hiatus. They wouldn't have a feature-length NINJAGO movie in the works if they expected Chima, or the Hobbit, to beat its sales. And if anything that illustrates how poorly Chima is doing, that NINJAGO, a line that has not yet proven it can come back gets a (VERY big-budget) movie, whereas its "replacement" Chima, did not pick up enough steam to get its own. Chima's actually doing quite well, according to TLG reps at conventions. It hit and exceeded all its goal projections, though not the "stretch projections". Ninjago came back for reasons entirely unrelated to Chima, such as the TLG callcenter being so swamped with calls from parents complaining about the line's cancellation, and getting emails upon emails upon emails complaining about it. It's TLG's most successful line ever. Apparently TLG has never received that kind of backlash or vocal outcry at the cancellation of a theme in its history as a company (sorry BIONICLE fans), and they received close to 20k calls a day for several weeks about it. Dr Leg O Brick Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Couple of things. I don't know if it's known, however, the bios are on Lego.com, explaining a few things. http://www.lego.com/en-us/ninjago/characters/rebooted And another, although this perhaps needs to be put in another topic, how their are similarity's with Star Trek The Next Generation, in two ways. How the villain's are named, "Borg Industry's" (Yes, I know, Borg from Cyborg, but still they are vaguely similarly, emotionless for the most part cyborgs) and how the good guys leader has been converted into a bad guy, via cyborg implants by the looks of it. PenPlays Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 Built the MechDragon (finally!) . It is very scrawny for a dragon, but I love all of the room for more Nindroids in the back. The saw blade doesn't function as well as I'd hoped. Nya's Buggy surprised me as it turned out to be much, much larger than I expected! The Senseis look excellent! I hope to take some photos of the complete wave here in the coming weeks so stay tuned... Quote
Lego Spy Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Well I got the Hover Hunter, and I must say, I really like it! Especially the blade feature! Quote

Mandate Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 The wings make it look larger on the box, as in real life, the rest of the dragon is somewhat small. Quote
PenPlays Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Really? The pictures made it seem rather "large" I meant that the actual body of it was skinny. The Wingspan is still quite impressive (I'd prefer flapping wings over saws any day!) making it seem large from that perspective. Lego has been really good at photographing their 2014 sets from their "good side" (sever Lego Movie sets and Wolf Legend Beast are offenders here). Quote

I dunno actually, I think the Lion, Gorilla and Crocodile look a lot worse on the box. The Legend Beasts are some of my favourite 2014 sets. The Chima spider also looks a bit lame on the box, but I built it yesterday and surprisingly loved it. I have only got one Ninjago 2014 set so far, the Thunder Raider is it? Jay and Cole's set and I liked it quite a bit! Love the new minifigure ninjas, and I like the Nindroid. Cole's mech is small and wicked, looks a lot better than his 2013 vehicle (which I actually bought ages ago, but only built it the day before). Can't wait to get more Ninjago, but need to cool it as I have spent WAY WAY WAY too much on LEGO in the last week. Especially as I am supposed to be saving for a Florida holiday and a wedding. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I think we're the opposite there, I need to find some kind of money to buy the epic dragon battle set (which I really want) from stores that are still holding it. I went to a brand new target yesterday, and they had almost no 2014 sets. Their superhero display was all 2012, not even 2013, and city was all 2013. But Ninjago was the only theme that ha their new wave in. Not sure if that's an indication that Ninjago sells well, but I felt it was worth mentioning. Quote

I have no doubt that Rebooted is selling well, but that isn't the reason why it is the only part of Winter 2014 that is currently available. If I recall correctly. The street date for 2014 is January 1st for most stores. Toys R Us and Lego Store (S@H as well) are always the first to get them out, of course. Other stores do break the street date though. The Epic Dragon Battle is phenomenal, by the way. I dunno actually, I think the Lion, Gorilla and Crocodile look a lot worse on the box. I was more pointing out the severed leg in the initial art for the Wolf, and the fact that the box is positioned in a way that the floating leg isn't visible on the art. I will agree thought that the Legend Beasts aren't entirely impressive looking, but I'm getting them anyway. Quote
CM4Sci Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 Can you take a picture of the Sentai Mountain sticker? -Sci Quote
PenPlays Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 I'll be sure to get pics of it during my little photoshoot this week Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 The Epic Dragon Battle is phenomenal, by the way. I know, the Great Devour, Lord Garmadon, the Green Ninja (Lloyd) Sensei Wu and a huge dragon all in one set. The dragon from rebooted looks a little clunky to me, big and space consuming. I doubt I'll be getting it, but that's one of the few I'm iffy about, since I know that I would, without a doubt pick up the Thunder Raider or Ninjacopter. Quote
horizon Posted December 31, 2013 Posted December 31, 2013 The epic dragon set is pretty cool but personally I think that the lightning dragon battle is even better, the blue dragon is most awesome dragon of them all. Quote
just2good Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) Summer sets here: http://www.legomarka...y=csoport&cs=75 Ninjago Battle for the City? 70728 X-1 Ninja Battle Machine 70727 Edited January 1, 2014 by just2good Quote
CM4Sci Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Summer sets! 70727 X-1 Ninja Battle Machine 70728 Battle for Ninjago City -Sci Quote
Aanchir Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I'll bet at least one of those is where the new Samurai X minifigure will be appearing! I wonder how many other new minifigures we might be able to expect. I hope "Battle for Ninjago City" has some actual city structures and not just a few vehicles. Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) These sound awesome. I think the Battle for Ninjago City will include the Overlord or maybe it will have Borg Tower. Edited January 1, 2014 by Wall E2624 Quote
PenPlays Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Only two sets? Either Lego is deliberately doing really expensive sets for Summer, or we are once again going to be short changed... It's two more sets though, so I don't mind. Quote
LegendsOfNinjago Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 True that, I was hoping for four like in 2012 I was wonder if we'll be getting new ninja suits...hmmmm Quote
PenPlays Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 It appears that Destructoid will be available everywhere. The Jan. 2014 Product Catalog features the Destructoid without a Hard-to-find tag. Quote
just2good Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 It appears that Destructoid will be available everywhere. The Jan. 2014 Product Catalog features the Destructoid without a Hard-to-find tag. Nah, that's not the case. They screwed up the catalog. The only theme that has "Hard to Find" 2014 sets listed is The LEGO Movie theme. If you see, City and Friends also do not have their exclusives listed as "Hard to Find". Quote
