IC: De'kra's eyes were a bright green as he said, "I am glad we could help. I am honor to be given chance to fly like you. Even if I can not find wings I think I will visit, if that okay. It always good to see you Denerii and Flavius. May your unity and your duty grant you most noble destiny. By way, you have an idea where that parasite came from? I will try to find out more in Heroica library either way."

OOC: I would guess the witch shop in Eubric will carry wings, and we can come here withrp in the training room/the hall.

OOC: I'm confused, by does it it mean in order to be a Winged Warrior we need to come back on a different Quest?

QM Note: No, it just means that you'll do your training session in Dastan rather than with the Copper Fox in Eubric (although you would make the post in the Training Room. It makes more sense to do so in-universe, and I will make a post with the full in-character ritual and whatnot once someone makes a post in the Training Room deciding to go Winged Warrior.

OOC: I would guess the witch shop in Eubric will carry wings, and we can come here withrp in the training room/the hall.

QM Note: Actually no, nothing like that is planned. The wings are for you to roleplay yourselves. I didn't want to limit anyone on that front, so you're free to do as you please. There are many options: synthetic wings, turning into a werebird, a mutation, anything that you come up with yourself, and anything that can be considered as having wings or the ability to fly.

Make sense? :classic:

Mizuki says to Flavius "Please apologize to the dragon that its hoard was looted by our party while it was recovering."

OOC: He asked a question last post. Also, is the feather one use or many?

IC: The echo nodded, "I will try to save some gold for Retraga when I return, please give her I apologies."

As De'kra spoke he caught sight of a quick splash of movement, lurking by the rocks. It was a relatively small shape, maybe about De'kra's height. The moving creature was dull in color, a tan hue all but blending in with the mountainside. The echo strained his eyes a little, but by then the shape had already gone.

OOC: just in case.

IC: De'kra sighed, "Because when you are master of all, you forget to be careful. You make mistakes. You forget to watch your people, instead you build new lands and explore other realms. You let your praises get so high, that your servants feel neglect and jealousy. And over time those feelings drive them to evil, all while master forgets his people, forgets to take care of them. People die, people suffer. Communities die, unity is destroy. And god of nothing is not god."

"Then former servants of master," De'kra continued, "They study. They learn while master forgets. They might even have great power on their own, and should they be as long lived as...they will have eternity to plan. And then one day they strike you down, and take your power for your own. It almost happen to Zoot recently, from what another hero told I.

"As for what could exist outside of gods and goddesses," De'kra concluded in a series of low chirps, "I people had theory. Well not theory, we saw it. We knew it. We god was made by older entities, and he made servant-scientists who made new life. And some of life he made changed on its own, errors and glitches in their bodies and reproduction causing changes and new traits. One of I people had abnormality in his brain that ket him see futures, another could teleport. And that wasn't inherent in our people, and ...we god was too neglectful to give those abilities to them. They developed it on their own. That is what make gods true creators, they can make systems that can grow without them."

"You seem to know very little of gods and goddesses, but you think you do. It's not worth arguing over really. I am merely doing it for the benefit of the others here. If a god can control the way people think, they will never rebel against him. It's impossible. Also, no one can attain to being a god by one's own power. One cannot become a god unless a god ordains them that power. Furthermore, you offer more confusion over Zoot. Zoot is not a god. Chaos has no being. There is no such thing as chaos. Chaos is merely the absence of order, just as darkness is nothing but the absence of light. Black is not a colour, it's the absence of colour. No mortal can strike down a being from the realm of gods. It is impossible. Gods cannot be effected by material things. Furthermore, how can a god forget? You don't seem to realize that the minds of gods are different from the minds of mortals. They are in a different realm. They see things differently than we do. Their ears can pierce the mind of any mortal and all mortals at once if they choose.

As far as your thoughts on mutations are concerned. Mutations are never a good thing. That's just a lie plain and simple. Some may have received special powers from the gods for their service to them, but it can't be caused by mutations. A mutated mind can't make people transport themselves from one place to another. I'm sorry, minion, but you are either strongly deluded or downright evil for trying to spread the doctrines you do. I could speak to you for much longer on this topic, but it seems to me that your mind has been blackened by your imperial thoughts of yourself. You think you are wise, perhaps because of your much studying, but studying books of lies, will make no man wiser to the truth."

I turn away from De'kra.

He is too far gone.

I turn to Flavius,

"It was a pleasure to assist you in this way. May I ask a question? The dragon's in Dasten...how are there memories? Do you think Retraga, for instance, would remember me as having cured her? I just think it would be wise if a cleric such as myself would visit her over the next few weeks and see how she progresses. I know that such pestilences as the one she carried, may grow again if it's not properly cared for. Furthermore, the greater the beast the longer it takes to remedy itself. But what I am mainly asking is, would Retraga remember us should we return? We she look kindly on us or only remember the pain she underwent as we removed the rotten core?"

Posted

IC: De'kra shrugs as his eyes turned cyan, "I see gods fall before my eyes and others take their place. I have seen over 100,000 years of people's memories, but they were me people's memories. And something I relearn daily is that Uland is not my home, so maybe your gods work different. I get that I will probably never know all about Uland, or me home. but I still take in new information. I learn, and accept new things. If you reject mutations as you call them because they are different, then you are young. Because the young refuse anything but what they know, they refuse to learn and let go of childish things. Like childish belief that their parents are perfect. Even if those metaphorical "parents" are gods."

"Um... we think it must have attached itself to Retraga when she was in her long slumber. She had no way of defending herself for many years, it would be easy for something like that to drain her... a coward's way, but what do we expect from such a life form?"

Mizuki says to Flavius "Please apologize to the dragon that its hoard was looted by our party while it was recovering."

8292394881_600825430d_t.jpg

"I was unaware that she brought her horde with her from her cave. From what I can tell, it could have only been a fraction of her riches. Retraga is an ancient dragon, and she possesses more than you could possibly imagine. Still, to the victor go the spoils. It is not common for dragons to be fought in Dastan - you saved her life, however, and for that she will be grateful. I am sure if she desires it, she will find herself more treasure. I will inform her that it was you who took her loot if it makes you happy, though."

OOC: I am good with moving the quest ahead.

IC: De'kra turned to Mizuki, "I not sure I say this yet, but thank you for sharing your gold and us."

:Ah, excellent! That is all I wanted to know. Do send her our greetings whenever you may see her. It was a pleasure working for your people and aiding the dragon."

I pour a venom over De'kra's teabag.

"Mizuki, your help was invaluable once again. My thanks for your coming. I may have asked you before, but you have not seen Erik any time recently, have you? I miss that chap."

OOC: I only had one more thing planned

IC: De'kra thought to himself for a time, recalling over "heroes" he had encountered. How that had ended. Finally he clicked, "Cleric, I apologize for lashing out, pain I people suffer when our god...it puts bad taste in my mouth about gods. Honestly you haven't been as hostile as others, and you have debated with me more fairly than others have. And I must admit you skilled in leadership. I prefer not to end this quest on a bad note, especially since it work out so well."

"We did cure the dragon. I suppose you played your own part in the matter. I've honestly seen worse from regular humans. I can't say I appreciate you giving the dragon back his gold. There are a lot of people in Eubric who are struggling to survive and that gold could save their lives. The dragon doesn't need it and as our winged friends have said, she probably has a massive stash elsewhere. But to each his own. Some people don't mind watching others suffer."

I shake my head.

"I fought under the paladins many years ago, when I was still uncertain of my mission in life. Life in the army teaches you things no regular cut-throat or sell-sword can know. It teaches discipline, the most valuable and crucial skill in combat."

"Are there any shops around that would sell items unavailable in Eubric? If so, I wouldn't mind visiting them. Do you know if prices are cheaper here than in Eubric?"

Posted

IC: De'kra answered, "I should have thought more about the poor, you are right. I guess I am still trying to get hang of what to do and gold, back home we not have money until fairly recently. You just ask for services and goods and you get it. At time I had not considered that dragon would have gold elsewhere, that was I mistake. Next time I will remember."

QM Note: Sorry for the delay. Busy busy busy... but this is it now, you can return to the Hall after this post.

"Again, thank you for your assistance in this matter. The Rito are ever grateful, as Retraga will be. Farewell for now, heroes."

7359767670_279f3d2100_t.jpg

"Come back soon!"

With that, the heroes pay their goodbyes and begin the descent down the mountain and back towards Drakencourt. They reach the city shortly before sunset.

As they make their way to the docks, the heroes walk through the streets of Drakencourt, a few of them reminiscing about their previous adventures. They glance over at the Palace, which gleams brightly in the setting sun. It appears that repairs are well underway. The city seems to be renewed.

A shadowy figure steps forward and lowers her hood. William and Dek'ra recognize her immediately.

DSCN0049-1.jpg

"Hello, Dek'ra, William, heroes," says the ever quiet and misty eyed Ella. She glances in the direction from which they came. "I hear that you have cured a dragon. You have my thanks for this service, and Vipera's too. The dragons are, as you know, an ancient race, and there are not too many of them left. Every one of them counts."

Ella grins. "You are an intrepid bunch. Heading back to Eubric now, no doubt. I hear it is very pretty there. I hope to one day study under the Oracle. Mallelio has told me that I must visit her. I hope to hone my connection to the Spirit Pools. Vipera says, too, that there is a dragon below the city that I would love."

"I have had visions of your city, lately, heroes. Mallelio and Phil assure me that Wren has fallen, and this I saw before they told me. But I have seen other things that disturb me. Beware other witches, heroes. Beware the Temple of Zoot. Look to the Old Gods, for they are still there. These are all things I have seen."

"The future of your city is hazy still, to me, much like the future of Dastan. Heroica, your Hall, will have quite an effect. The future is not fixed for you. You can change it."

"I have a message or two to deliver, if you wouldn't mind being my messengers. Tell the Barbarian Tarn to not fear for the Jun boy. Tell Tarn I know he is noble of heart. Tell Thothwick that a U'Kin will be in power soon, and that he must visit if he wishes to see the day it happens. Tell the man Guffington, if you see him, though I know he is no member of your Hall, that one day our paths will cross, and that I look forward to it. Finally, and this is no vision, but tell Atramor that he must deliver my letter to Tarn!"

Ella bows to the heroes. "You accomplish great things. The land of Dastan is old and does not forget its friends. Dragons too have long memories."

Ella dons her hood once more, smiles meekly, and disappears in the direction of the Palace. The heroes are left with the smell of sweet smoke.

Captain Whales waddles down the deck where The Mercutio is harbored.

8524185849_6e49f576bb_t.jpg

"Ahoy! How did it go? Ye can tell me on tha way back. I got me some great business deals, that ought ter be enough fer a few a months, bwahaha! So, are ya ready ta depart? Let's go then! Anchors away!"

6392038821_ee98952d0c_t.jpg

"..."

The Mercutio sets sail, heading towards the sunset as it basks the Crystalline Sea in a deep orange hue.

THE QUEST IS VICTORIOUS!

QM Note: Thank you all for playing, it was wonderful to have you. Feel free to finish up any roleplaying in this thread, but you can return to the Hall when you're ready.

"Well, that was quite an adventure. The land of Dastan still holds secrets and surprises it seems. Thank you comrades for completing this quest wit me, it's been a pleasure... most of the time. Good luck in the future and may the Righteous Light shine upon you."
