narbilu Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Now that we know what sets are going to be released this summer, we can start putting together our wishlist for december again... And because I couldn't find the old post, I started this new one: 2 sets for the new movie have already been released: - Fleeing from the Mirkwood spiders - Barrel escape So my hopes are for the following sets: - Lake Town, containing Bard, a building and some docks (size like Barrel Escape) - Beorn's house, containing Beorn, a bear, some dwarves and a reasonable house (size like Bag End) - Lonely Mountains, containing Smaug, Bilbo, Lair in a part of a mountain (size like Goblin King) And 2 sets of the first movie, because we already have 2 of the second one - Troll encounter, containing Kili, Fili and Bilbo, 2 moulded trolls, one brick build stone version (size like Attack of the Wargs) - Dol Guldur, containing Radagast, Wizard King of Angmar, some ruins and slede (size like Mirkwood Spiders) Looks like a nice list, wouldn't you agree Quote
Deathleech Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Lego has the license to the movies and not the books so it's much easier to guess what sets may be made for LotR since we have already seen all three films. With the Hobbit, we have no idea what Peter Jackson is adding or taking away from the book to make it into a film. With that said, I think the only safe bet is a Smaug set. Wether the setting be Laketown or Lonely Mountain is anyone's guess though. Personally I would like to see Beorn's House at the $50-60 price point, Laketown as a big 100-130 dollar set with a good chunk of Laketown and brick built Smaug, the Dol Guldur battle (if it's even in the second movie) as the $80 set, Thranduil's throne room or something as the $30 set and then some random little set with probably 2 main characters and a totally boring build (which is to be expected at such a cheap price). deskp Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Something with crowned Thranduil needs to happen *twitch* Lake town I would imagine could be the top end set of this wave. Its supposedly the grand finale in this movie. Beorns hosue I don't see much use for.. Dol goldor will proapbly have a bigger part in this movie than the last, something with Bolg anyone? (btw the nazgul wee see in AUJ is not the witch king if the crown he wears is to be believed) The smaller sets can be some Elves vs orcs sets, we saw some fithing going on in the preview. I really hope we don't get any AUJ sets in this wave. They have quite enough to cover in DOS. I do want something with Radagast tho, but he propably can be added to the DOS dol goldur set. Quote
Deathleech Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 A Radagast bunny sled would make an excellent $9.99-12.99 set if it's features at all in DoS. Quote

I don't think there is a way of making a satisfactory bunny sled as a set. I'm getting exzited for comic con, I assume they will reveal their first DOS set there along with the accompanying minifigs. WHat set/scen do we think this well be? I'd guess it would be another COMPLETE set similar to helms deep and bag end. (you know something that isnt jsut some random scenery parts) Quote
DragonKnights Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 here are my thoughts from the other thread yesterday: "I'm very excited about the upcoming Orthanc, LOTR summer sets, and Hobbit sets in the fall. Any speculation on what we will see out the second wave of the Hobbit? I'm guessing Smaug either in a pile of gold, or more likely with a town scene that I hope will pair nicely with MMV and the Blacksmith Shop. Probably a big Dol Guldur set along the lines of Weathertop in style. Hopefully Beorn's house with a bear. Perhaps a re-release of the Mirkwood Spiders and the Barrel Escape. Any thoughts on the coming sets in the fall? It's been awhile since I've read the book and i'm not sure what will be covered. I'd also like to see some new polybags for LOTR this summer and for Hobbit this fall. I can't wait to pick up the LOTR sets...time to get more shelves for the apartment!" Quote
Deathleech Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) I don't think there is a way of making a satisfactory bunny sled as a set. Definitely not a "full" sled, but I could see them making a Radagast minifigure, a brick built sled, and including 3 rabbits or so. Lego would probably need new molds for the rabbits, so that is the only real issue I foresee. I don't think it's very likely Lego would make new molds for a small set that will only be used once. As for Lego rabbits, the one from the friends theme looks good (shape wise not printing) but they couldn't be connected in any nice looking fashion to anything but the ground. I say give us a new printed bunny, hedgehog (Sebastian), throw in a tree, some mushrooms and you got yourself a (AUJ) Radagast set! Quote
Mr_Malfoy Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Here's what I hope we get for DoS: 1. Beorn's house with Beorn, a bear, some dwarves, and a good house ($50-$70) 2. Thranduil's Throne Room with Thranduil, Bilbo, Thorin, and 2 Elven Guards ($30-$40) 3. Laketown with Bard, Mayor of Laketown, some other characters, a brick-built Smaug, and the ruins of Laketown ($70-$80) 4. Dol Guldur with Gandalf, Galadriel, Radagast, Necromancer, 2 Nazgûls, bunny sled, and fortress of Dol Guldur ($100) I don't know what else we could get, but a set with three trolls and something with Azog in it would be nice. The_Chosen_1 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 ^ That would be the perfect lineup, in my eyes. Quote
TeufelHund Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Huh? A movie called the Desolation of Smaug and no one wants Samug's cave including the titular dragon and the huge pile of treasure he's resting on? Quote
deskp Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Huh? A movie called the Desolation of Smaug and no one wants Samug's cave including the titular dragon and the huge pile of treasure he's resting on? Well, his "cave" is the inside of Erebor. and a huge pile of gold is kindof uninteresting and a waste of pieces. Also modt people suggest Smaug comes in a Laketown set. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 ^ I agree. As iconic as Smaug's treasure hord is, it doesn't make a lot of sense as a set. A Battle of Laketown set would give options for many more minifigures and structures. Quote
