Basteq Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I think lego could of gone in a different direction im the UCS by doing a building like the jedi temple. You are right though, it makes the previous one meaningless. Yeah, tell it to them... and about Sail Barge, fifth A-wing and many other remakes we don't need. Quote
kermit Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) I wont quite say that about the sailbarge though because its only the second version of this set and its not a UCS. Maybe admiral akbar's ship would of been a better option as the UCS keeping in line with the roj sets and something that was never done before. Edited February 15, 2013 by kermit Quote
cavegod Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I agree with Anio, A few improvements and also a few parts done better on the old X-wing. I would have prefered an A-wing, Tie bomber Cloud car etc; we don't even have a 2nd UCS to look forward to as an Ewok village can only be a playset :-( Still anybody want a 7192 boxed with stickers and instructions? Sam892 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 The R2 unit looks to small IMO. I wish they used the dome they used with R4. Quote
wildboar Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I think this is quite logical news. It's been 13 years since last ucs model and X-wing, Tie-interceptor and Millennium falcon are most iconic models in star wars and I've seen a lot of folks having x-wing (not necessary lego), or Tie or M. falcon and nothing else from SW franchise. Also, for the last 13 years a lot of new lego SW fans joined collecting lego models and if they wanted ucs x-wing, they only alternative were buying it from e-bay for insane price. Business wise, it's much cheaper to make a little bit modified x-wing than to make totally new ucs. And the best part is that it will most probably sell much better that a lot of other ucs. Only one who can complain are the original buyers of the ucs, but not collectors but buyers who have x-wing still in box ready to sell for a couple times bigger price than it was rrp. And honestly, they are not a majority of lego buyers and for me they aren't real collectors but folks who decided to invest in lego bricks. For the sake of their investment I hope that they have cash-in their investment until today, because after this news not only that x-wing ucs will plunge, but I wouldn't recommend buying tie-interceptor or M. falcon. If new x-wing ucs turns out a success for Lego, I'm certain that tie wing will follow and in the next couple years new, improved version of millennium falcon. Btw I plan to buy new x-wing, and no, I won't be disappointed if Lego releases third ucs x-wing in 2026 :) Quote
mortesv Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) To sum up my thoughts on the new UCS X-wing: I'd rather spend my money on every other not yet UCS realised OT ship, crawler, barge etc.. It is an improvement over the last entry - which already were quite good (except a few odd colours and stickers). But it is also clear that it is just a 'face lift' of the old design. It is as close to simply begin selling the 7191 again as you can get. From as business standpoint this no doubt makes perfect sense. For me it is a big 'meh' Edited February 15, 2013 by mortesv Quote
jadedomg Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) I missed out on 7191 so I am looking forward to this. If it flops lego likely will not do it again much like they learned with the legends line. If it succeeds who knows what the future brings us. Edited February 15, 2013 by jadedomg Quote
cei Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I didn't get the old UCS X-Wing, so I'm happy this one is coming. Sure, I'd have been even more excited about a UCS Nebulon B frigate, but oh well. Quote
Dragonfire Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I wish they'd do a UCS Ewok Village or Sandcrawler.... Quote
Basteq Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I wish they'd do a UCS Ewok Village or Sandcrawler.... And what's the point of that and how do you imagine it?Big tree with ewok minifigures? Where's the UCS in that? Sandcrawler wouldn't make decent UCS either. Quote
Haderach Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) Rumors were true! I look forward to all the debate over this release. I am extremely happy and excited, this model is gorgeous!!!! http://www.hothbrick...tre-x-wing-ucs/ EDIT: I got this link from FBTB, don't want to take any credit http://www.fbtb.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9046 Edited February 15, 2013 by Haderach Quote
Spider-Man Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Looks pretty good, but it's not for me. Good find though and thanks for the picture Quote
Fuppylodders Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Sandcrawler wouldn't make decent UCS either. I strongly beg to differ... just look at Marshal Bananas and Cavegods version. Sure, they are over the usual piece count limit, but it wouldn't be too difficult for professional TLG builders to create one within their piece count limit. With regards to the new X-Wing, it is not classed as UCS, so all the UCS fans out there that don't want another remake of a UCS... well... technically, there isn't... so the old version is still the *unique* one you forever want. Where the new X-Wings build is concerned... for a 'UCS' sized version, Im quite disappointed they included the small R2D2 and made it fit. It seems completely disproportionate and just makes it look weird. Simply due to that, I can't really see myself getting it... big turnoff for me. Either make it minifig scale, or make it to scale it is designed to be, don't try to mix the two... Id rather fork out £160+ on an old UCS Y-Wing. Quote
henning1010 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) I really like the design. As I missed the older one, I will absolutely get this. Oh man, summer will be so expensive (UCS X-wing, RGS, AT-TE, Duel on Geonosis,...) Edited February 15, 2013 by henning1010 Quote
Anio Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Sandcrawler wouldn't make decent UCS either. Dear Lord !! Finally someone who sees that ! No matter how accurate, impressive and well designed the model could be, the Sandcrawler itself is just a potato on wheels. The UCS line deserves way more than that. Quote
strangely Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 And what's the point of that and how do you imagine it? Big tree with ewok minifigures? Where's the UCS in that? Sandcrawler wouldn't make decent UCS either. Have to agree with that. As much as I'd like both of those things as sets they definitely would make terrible UCS. The Ewok village would only ever work as a playset and the Sandcrawler would be just too big. And in all reality the sandcrawler isn't exactly the most interesting vehicle out there so it would probably translate into a boring UCS (It is a brown rectangle on wheels after all). Quote
Ritz Brick Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Obviously there could have been more choices to do instead of the X-Wing, everyone knows that, it feels like it's been beat to death by how much everyone here needs to complain about it. Obviously an X-Wing has more sale ability than a big tree. Remember there are more people who buy Lego than the people on this forum, If you want an 'UCS Ewok Village' as ridiculous as that sounds, go make one. A tree is a heck of a lot easier to build than an X-Wing. Quit complaining, it's final decision. Quote
Fuppylodders Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 AT-AT is just a robotic dog with a docked tail... but plenty of people wanting that as UCS too.. Quote

None of the recent releases 10212, 10227, 10221 bear a mark of UCS. Btw. the scale as you mentioned sucks. The whole point of the big models was the scale. ISD 6211 looks most radiculous ;) Quote
Fuppylodders Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 (edited) None of the recent releases 10212, 10227, 10221 bear a mark of UCS. You are most certainly right! I do wonder if people would feel less offended/opposed if one of those were re-released (after a decent amount of time, such as 13 years etc)...? (And yes, I do understand there is a whole range that the release of a completely new, never before been made UCS would be much better than a 're-release') Edited February 15, 2013 by Fuppylodders Quote
Dragonfire Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Then perhaps a UCS SPHA-T or AT-AP? Quote
mpaisana Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 These sets don't attract me as they used too. I feel that they should launch other kinds of exclusives, more expensive if need be but with more detailed reproductions of some scenarios (like cloud city). Quote
Basteq Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I wouldn't also make too much fuss about the name UCS itself. Every day we get ''Ultimate'' everything from chips to movies. Quote
mpaisana Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Can't understand why there is no A-wing, that thing destroyed a super star destroyer. That or a Slave I, which is an amazing ship with lot's of details that could be truly highlighted in ucs scale. Quote
Dragonfire Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Yeah. By the way, has there ever been a non-OT UCS except Obi-Wan's Jedi StarFighter? Quote
