Sarge B7

Jensen C7

Neither still finds nothing.

Jeaux tries stomping his foot again at A2, and again listens for a hollow noise

There's no hollow noise, just the sound of ground getting stomped on.

Jeaux addresses the horse once again, "Would you kindly move out of the way, my friend is trying to dig where you are currently standing."

The horse whinnies, and makes a huge dump on the ground below him.

"Neigghh! [Dig that!]"

The horse does not move.

"Right then. Onto Plan A. Jeaux, prepare to put it down with that cannon, but first give it a chance to move into the other stables. Well, order it to move.

On the other hand, we may need to find some sugar lumps."

"You continue to assume the hatch is beneath the horse. Though I have seen no indication that is the case; however, if you insist on making this horse move, I will try to reason with him before resorting to bloodshed.". Jeaux opened the gate to the horse's stall and moved to pet the horse on its nose. <"I fail to understand why you are so hostile to me, have I offended you in some way?">

The horse looks confused.

"Whinny... [i won't betray my master. He ordered me to stay put and guard this secret hatch I'm standing on. Nobody is supposed to get in.]"

OOC: Sarge speaks horse!?

<"And you are doing exactly what you were told as any loyal horse would. It is commendable, a shame that your master will miss out on what is quite possibly the deal of a lifetime, but I am sure he will not hold it against you. After all, you are merely doing what you were told, and who would expect someone of your breed to understand the difference between a command's words and its intent.">

Ooc: Sorry! I presumed that Jeaux automatically translated.

The horse steps around nervously. The poor creature is even more confused than before.

"Neigh? [A deal of a lifetime? Is it like getting a bucket-full of carrots?]"

<"Something like that yes, but you have your orders and I would be acting out of turn if I asked you to ignore them. I'm sure your masters will understand.">

The horse shakes his head.

"Neigghh! Whinny? [Yes! I have my orders. My master doesn't eat food anyway, so what would he do with a bucket-full of carrots?]"

The horse stays put. It still has reins on it, though, since it's owner left it in a hurry.

QM Note: Sorry, but reversed psychology is lost on horses.

OOC: It was worth a shot.

Jeaux relays what the horse had said to his companions. "Sounds like his masters may be undead themselves. Anyway, I supposed we could try to use his reins to direct him off of the door, though that could create a lot of noise and prove somewhat troublesome if he resists. There is also the option of killing him, as you suggested earlier Mr. Mcency."

Sarge nods. And leads the horse out of the stable using the reigns.

QM Note: Sorry for the delays! I'll let you off the hook now and move the quest forward.

Sarge nods. And leads the horse out of the stable using the reigns.

The horse struggles back, and the others need to rush to Sarge's help before they get the stubborn horse out of the stall. Jeaux distracts it while Jensen and Sarge quickly dig around the stall until they find a hatch. They open it to find a winding staircase leading down. There's a strange blue light emitting below.

"After you, boss."

The stairs lead into a corridor lit by rows of blue lanterns. Walking around a corner, the heroes bump into a short figure. Much to their surprise, they have encountered a zombie boy.

"Uwaaahhh!!!"

The scared boy limps as fast as he can back towards the end of the corridor, and enters a pair of doors there, slamming them shut behind him.

The party can either follow the boy, or examine the other two doors along the corridors. What do they want to do?

"They know we're here." Sarge remembers hearing about a zombie child from one of the other heroes. "They'll probably come looking for us, in which case we want to enter on our own terms. Otherwise I say we check out these rooms for Loot. Heckz, Jeaux, Jensen. Whaddaya think?"

"Whatever you want, boss. I'm ready to return that zombie kid and any pals he might have back to their final resting places, though."

The left-side door leads to a small storage with shelves full of mostly empty bottles, vials, tubes and pipes. There are some usable concoctions in there, as well.

heroica-grandpotion.jpgGrand Potion – Restores 25 health to the target.

heroica-grandtonic.jpgGrand Tonic – Restores 15 ether to the target.

heroica-remedy.jpgRemedy – Removes all negative effects from the target.

heroica-neutralizer.jpgNeutralizer - Removes all temporary effects from all allies and all opponents.

heroica-phoenixessence.jpgPhoenix Essence – Revives a fallen ally with full health during a battle.

There's also a stack of papers lying haphazardly on the floor, as if someone had dropped them there. On the front leaf reads "STUDIES ON IMMORTALITY by Dr. Theophrastus Paracelsior".
