SoupOrFishOil Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I think that the guy in the black cloak is on the GOTG box at the front of the small enemy ship. Ronan, maybe? Quote
Ultron Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) I'm going to try to say this without sounding rude (forgive me if I do, I sometimes type things that don't exactly come out the way I wanted them too), but do you know much of the DC universe outside of Batman? He has layers, and isn't all what the cinematic universe shows him to be. The Killing Joke is the embodiment of that statement. And there's more to the DC universe than Batman. When you have StormWatch, the Demon Knights, the Justice League, Teen Titans, secret six, plenty of solo comics and more, then why use Batman as your prime example? There's a lot more to the DC universe than him. Yes, I do. Not as much as the marvel but I have a decent amount of knowledge about DC heroes and villains. I only used batman as an example because when I think of "serious" and "DC" I personally think of Batman so I addressed him specifically. Forgive me if that's a tad ignorant of me. I'm not the biggest batman fan Edited February 10, 2014 by Luna Lovegood Quote
Spider-Man Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I think that picture all but assures that GotG will be at the NYTF this weekend! Now we just need to hope that they will allow pictures of the sets! The Milano looks pretty good! I hope it has a decent interior. Star Lord looks a bit disappointing from this blurry far away picture though Quote
Ultron Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Any ideas who that is with the blue head and purple legs between MODOK and Cyclops? I'm thinking maybe Yondu? Edit: OH SNAP. I'm loving the look of the GotG set, even if it is a small picture. Looks like it will be a three-minifig set with Starlord, Gamora, and Nebula/Yondu/Collector. I'm thinking it has 4 minifigs. Look at the bottom left hand corner of the box. It looks like it could fit 4 minifigs in the lineup Quote
DJ Bricks Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Any ideas who that is with the blue head and purple legs between MODOK and Cyclops? Probably a GotG figure, only thing that makes sense, probably Yondu. What i can't tell if Star-Lord is printed head with a new mould or a completely new mould. Our friend said the set has Star-Lord, Gamora, and Ronan, Quote
The_Creator Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Heh, I'm 10 days late but oh well. Awesome to see Martin Manhunter, too bad it's New 52 and you have to spend $75 on LEGO.com to get him…, guess it'll be a pass then. Excited for NYCC though, should be getting some GotG pictures. Quote
DarthBrickus Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) Any ideas who that is with the blue head and purple legs between MODOK and Cyclops? Also, who's the guy between MODOK and Thor? Looks like green pants, black torso, gray arms and long, black hair? *edit* whoops, seems like i'm the slowest typist on eurobricks. Edited February 10, 2014 by DarthBrickus Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Not knowing much about GotG, I have been reading up on it.....funny one of their team members according to Wikipedia is one Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man. Anyway, with New York only days away we should see this set better as well as the other two GotG sets......I wonder if they'll have the new Star Wars missiles in them or not ? Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 I'm thinking maybe Yondu? He does seem to have blue skin, so I think that must be him. Quote

I recall reading the fin would be scaled down from the comics but that he would have one. Quote

Yeap that's Ronan, hammer, hood and all. I wonder who's being "Rescued" ? One of the Guardians, RR or Drax? Or Yondu? Edited February 10, 2014 by daniel gourhan22 Quote
Ultron Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Yeap that's Ronan, hammer, hood and all. I'm thinking it is as well but the ronan on the box has what looks like a printed hood or helmet and that black figure does not. Nor is it holding his hammer. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Yeap that's Ronan, hammer, hood and all. And I just realized that the figure is carrying a hammer, like Ronan in the comics. I'm switching back over to this camp. Quote
Sam892 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Any ideas who that is with the blue head and purple legs between MODOK and Cyclops? I'm guessing Yondu, since he is blue skinned and in Guardians. I doubt it's Another X-man since all the Blue X-men have hair and don't wear purple. Quote
Suspsy Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) I understand that, it's just not my type of kids show. I like a lot of animation it's just this particular type isn't my favorite. I have nothing against them, I'd just prefer a bit of a more mature marvel animated show. Ugh, no. A sense of humour is one of the main reasons why Marvel will always be way out in front and DC will be always be struggling to catch up. Marvel comics and movies know when to play it serious and when to have a bit of fun. DC, however, is stuck in the lame mentality that all their comics and movies have to be ultra-serious and dark and brooding and no one should ever, ever be happy. Dan DiDio has stated this in no uncertain terms. Getting back to sets, who else is super excited about the New York Toy Fair this coming weekend? Perhaps Lego will at least allow pics of the X-Men set if not the GOTG. Edited February 10, 2014 by Suspsy Quote

Good catch there, on the name. I don't care to speculate on whom, but it would indeed account for the fourth minifig (seeing as there is room on the front lineup) if Starlord is shooting that thing to save someone from inside. EDIT: Starlord looks to have a hairpiece.. Didn't somebody say he's only got his helmet in one set and no helmet in the other? Also, I think the thing he's holding is a couple of handlebars attatched to Venom's back-clip-piece, with a 2x2 dish attatched (most likely by technic pin) and bucket handles on the top and bottom. What i can't tell if Star-Lord is printed head with a new mould or a completely new mould. Our friend said the set has Star-Lord, Gamora, and Ronan, Looks like a hair mold on a printed head, but can't tell if it's a new hair mold. Was hoping the helmet would be molded but it doesn't look like it-- didn't really expect much from Lego in that regard, they hardly do anybody's headgear correctly. That smaller black ship is shown shooting one of those missiles I guess no fin for him though. Maybe it's printed on his head though. I recall reading the fin would be scaled down from the comics but that he would have one. Yeah, an interview with his actor from several months ago mentioned no big fin. Promably minor enough they didn't put it on the fig, or it's just back of head printing or something like that if it's there at all. The ship definitely looks neat, the set overall actually looks cool. Ronan looks awesome on the box art. Makes me hopeful for the line even if Star-Lord doesn't look that good in that particular (admittedly less than ideal) picture. Quote
TheSilentShane Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 This is what Yondu looks like in the film http://www.darkhoriz...2175/rooker.jpg That's without his massive fin, which is likely going to be CGI judging by the actor's head fixture. Seeing as how the minifig in question doesn't seem to have a hairpiece and is purple with blue skin, my bet is the mystery fig is, in fact, Nebula: Quote

Colossus Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 (edited) Let's leave discussion of the merits of various TV shows to other threads. He was referring to the GOTG set in the bottom right corner. Look again. Yeah, I saw that portion of the pic. Thus, my frustration. If the photographer would have turned his/her head about 5° to the right, we would have a better shot of The Milano and the Marvel minifigs on display right in front of it. lightningtiger Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 That smaller black ship is shown shooting one of those missiles. Ah, yes.....a missile loaded either side of that smaller craft. Quote
Colossus Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Good god, now I know these people are taking crappy pics on purpose. On the left you have sets we have already seen and on the right we have new sets and minifigs. What do they take a picture of? Of course the sets we have already seen. I know, right! Quote
gedren_y Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 If we do get any version of Yondu, we can add him to the list of Avengers, as the original cast of Guardians were given Avenger status during one of their time-travel storylines. Yondu is actually from the 31st century, in an alternate future. I haven't kept up with the mainline Marvel Universe Guardians, but I know they were founded by Star Lord. Quote
korpen4444 Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 @korpen4444 You can count me out of the group that only cares for the minifigs. While I do enjoy the minifigs that are included, I would prefer owning a detailed, legit set. We all know what LEGO is capable of with the Arkham Asylum and Unexpected Journey sets. You have to admit that the Batcopter build is a little ridiculous. I really like the Batcopter. To me it's not ridiculous. Flash? Green Arrow and Bats rivalry? Kid Flash's bafoonery? Young Justice's constant bickering with each other? Teen Titans jokey nature? Besides like I said, Marvel's jokiness, is just plain ridiculous. That being said, the GOTG ship looks nice, though I'm not sure on the figs. Quote
