So over spring break I threw together a couple of MOCs. These are really my first published MOCs, so be gentle :-$

Here is the Imperial Assault Droid. Useful for anything from crowd control to battlefields, this versatile droid is making a real impact on the Rebels (my universe loosely borrows from the Star Wars one, as in there is an Empire, and a Rebellion, but that's about it).

Here is the droid next to the chief of design for Imperial weapons.

I'd hate to be a Rebel...

In this image, he's in armored mode. Depending on the situation, the extra armor can be added or removed. Adding the armor provides much increased protection, but gets in the way of a joint, so it drasticall cuts down on flexibility and maneuverability.

Here is the standard configuration, perfect for patrols

Fairly stable design...

Now there's a lot I don't like about this. I want to replace the arm parts with dark bley versions (not the t-pistons, the connectors). Also, the arms are a bit short...I'm thinking about elaborating on the blaster and grabbing arm next time I go home.

Disclaimer: While I have not seen these techniques used before, there's every chance someone thought of some or all of these techniques before I implemented them.

Thanks for looking :-)

Fascinating building techniques! I have never seen the pneumatic tees used that way! I think this thing is a great little MOC, but that the most interesting and amazing part is the way it was built, not the model itself. Well done :-D

I have seen the tee joint technique several times before, it is becoming quite popular, I've have used it several times myself since the viking wolf set. What I find most unique on this build is the darkgrey phone hip joint *y* I would like some of those phone pieces to play with.

Very nice build in all and nice colors as well, but not a very nice demeanor X-D

Thanks, it was my first serious attempt at a droid :-)

Wow. Very cool! *y*

Those joints are great, that hip rocks, and the head resembles Alien, a bit.

Thanks for the compliment. I wouldn't say flawless though, I need to make the blaster "more impressive" and work on the manipulating hand some. It's a bit overwhelming at the moment.

I would suggest using the ear pieces of the Fenris wolf from Vikings. They already look like claws. ;-)

Well, I don't want claws. I want something that looks like it could be used as a hand, or can manipulate the environment around it (like in the picture above, it was able to hold a human (fig) near its head)

Bigger, smaller or equally sized compared to the actual design?

Wow great moc their SW4J, i love the way youve used the phone as a way to connect the legs to the waist.

Cant wait to see more :-)

I assume you mean compared to what I have now? Well the advice I've gotten over on classic-space.com has been to make the blaster more beefed up, and tone down the hand. I can totally agree with that, but I also have two months for more people to give comments before I redo them :-P So I'd like to make it a little smaller than it is now.

What about the hands of the Iron drones from Exo-force? They're smaller than the current ones and they're

colored right (dark grey).

Well, the problem would be now to connect it. And compared to the individual 1x1 clips, they're a little bigger. This is what I really need to work on, as the blaster should be relatively easy to redo

I like it. Simplicity is good ;-)

Can we expect an army of these? :-P

Well, maybe a little too simple in the blaster :-P But I don't want to go overboard and give it shoulders like someone had suggested :-D

An army of them? They use relatively few parts, I'm sure I could design it in Lego factory and just order them when I have some spare time and cash! Otherwise I'm totally out of the bley 1x1 brick with 5 studs.

Funny, I've build one looking almost exactly like yours. The only difference were different lower arms.

Anyways, yours is flawless. ;-)

So did I. :-D Mine's a bit darker, though. Took forever to find the right peices.

Nice work, It looks very sleek with the armor on.

EDIT: After building mine, I noticed the legs fall off easy. Does yours do this, or is mine inferior?

That depends. The on mine were relative new, so the connection was tight.

But if they're getting older, the connection becomes loose. 8-|
