North Lego Star Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 (edited) Does anyone know when Planet Sets Series 4 is coming out in the U.S.? Thanks for Responding! Edited August 16, 2013 by North Lego Star Quote
Artanis I Posted August 16, 2013 Posted August 16, 2013 Hey I'm wondering what are people's thoughts on this set? I can't find very reviews on the internet. http://lego.wikia.co...lth_Starfighter If I get time I will review it tomorrow, I only have a little bit of the Mandalorian Speeder review to go, I will do the Jek-14 set straight after. Artifex Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 Hi there! I've been thinking about getting a 7965, but I just realized it's a 2011 set -- and Lego usually releases a new iteraction of a former set every 3-4 years. So I'm not sure if I should get the latest Falcon or wait for the new one. What do you guys think? Any thoughts? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 21, 2013 Posted August 21, 2013 In the Star Wars forum, "What should I buy?" questions should be posted in General Questions, so I'll merge this... ...and done. Quote

For about one hundred USD, the set is fantastic. A well designed model with a full lineup of the most iconic figures, the 7965 MF is the best version we will see for a while. The next, if there is one, won't be until the new movies come out. Quote

I would take what they said with a grain of salt. There was a 7-year gap between System scale Millennium Falcon models last time. Quote

I guess the 7965 is the best version so far; each new set seems to top the previous one, although the minifigures in this set are impressive! I would take what they said with a grain of salt. There was a 7-year gap between System scale Millennium Falcon models last time. Now that made me check my wallet. Quote
wilson3a10 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Hi, does anyone know the magnet minifig can be detachable from the magnet? Or how what mechanism is there connecting the minifig and the magnet disc? I would like to know if it is able to disconnect it by using some small scale tool. Quote

There's another thread on this where I believe someone has worked it out. Artifex Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I'm new to Lego Star Wars. I love the Old Trilogy and the recent sets look great. I was thinking to buy Jabba's Palace and Jabba's Sail Barge (along with 1 or 2 Desert Skiffs), but then the Ewok Village came along and I guess I'll skip the other sets for the village. Do you guys think I'll be able to get Jabba's Palace, the Sail Barge and the skiffs next year? Do you think they will be around much longer? I read/heard somewhere (in The Brick Show, I guess) that Jabba's Palace is being discontinued next year... Could that be true? Quote
Leo604 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I read/heard somewhere (in The Brick Show, I guess) that Jabba's Palace is being discontinued next year... Could that be true? Unfortunately it is; a Muslim community in Turkey sent an official complaint to TLG saying that the palace looked like a mosque and the overall set was demeaning to Islam. Turns out TLG was planning to retire the set soon (in this case next year) cause of their policy to do so after a few years of being on the shelves. Quote

That's wrong. It wasn't "a muslim community in Turkey", but a Turkish community in Austria, more precisely officials of an organisation claiming to represent the Turkish community in Austria. And the Hagia Sophia was originally a church, and not a mosque ;-) Edited August 28, 2013 by Robert_88 Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Moreover, the Ewok Village is just now coming out, and large, expensive Direct-to-Consumer sets like it tend to stay around at least a couple years, as long as they're at least reasonably popular. I don't think you need to worry about not being able to get the Ewok Village at all if you don't get it this year; I fully expect it to stay around until at least 2015. Quote
Tariq j Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 The ewok village will basically become the death star until the next big playset comes out. Quote

They will be retired earlier then the ewok village, and you might get some discounts soon. Because it is thought that next year will be PT heavy, not much sets of episodes IV-VI will likely come that year, so you could save for the ewok village next year :) Remember, how later you buy the sets, the more chanche you get on a discount! By the way, it's Original Trilogy, not Old trilogy. ;) Unfortunately it is; a Muslim community in Turkey sent an official complaint to TLG saying that the palace looked like a mosque and the overall set was demeaning to Islam. The complaints of that turkey community have nothing to do with the retirement of the palace, TLG was planning to discontinue the set anyways, but they said to that community that they would discontinue it for them, to make everyone happy. TLG always wins :) Quote

When I told my Dad this, who's a muslim, found the complaint to be really stupid and that they most likely just want attention. He basically reacted like most muslims and non-muslims would. Quote

Hopefully all muslim are not like those ones. Let's not insult religions, especially since discussion of them is prohibited in the Member Guidelines. And besides, TLG has said that they were planning to retire the set anyways. (Which we all, being familiar with TLG's products, know is likely the case.) Quote
