The Legonater Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 These are the original blueprints, then? Interesting... $500-$1000*?! And I thought Chronicles was expensive... I think I'll stick to reference pictures on the Net (and someone's bound to scan the pages of this new book for public use eventually). Besides, isn't there a different blueprints series that came out recently for cheaper? Quote
Churchill Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Well, I'm not sure if these are the same as in the other Blueprints books. I think they might be different. Certainly an interesting development, though. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 These are the original blueprints, then? Interesting... Indeed. I would assume they would have to be blueprints of the sets, since I doubt they would have blueprints for the studio models. I also took a look at the preview blueprints, and the image they have of the 74-Z speeder bike doesn't look accurate: The front is too bulbous and the steering vanes too small. Plus I know a more accurate blueprint exists, since a copy of it is sitting right in front of me as I write this courtesy of The Art of Return of the Jedi. That makes me wonder if they're just sticking a whole bunch of blueprints in here, whether they're the final versions or not. (which is not necessarily a bad thing; it could be interesting to see the evolution of each design; but if the final versions are not included it drops in worth for me, an MOCer [though I understand that I/we MOCers would probably be a minority among purchasers]) Besides, isn't there a different blueprints series that came out recently for cheaper? The DK ones? I'd be almost certain those are inaccurate, without having even looked at one. They're artists representations, whereas these are actual blueprints from the development of the movie. The origins of the streets of Mos Eisley, the X-wing fighter, even the legendary Battle of H[oth, the cantina, the Carbon Freezing Chamber, and many other iconic sets... The DK ones? I'd be almost certain those are inaccurate, without having even looked at one. They're artists representations, whereas these are actual blueprints from the development of the movie. I've seen the DK books before. The blueprints contained in them, while certainly a huge improvement over the diagrams in the Essential Guide (trust me, Red Three does not look like that - just ask Aeroeza, or look at this), are definitely not perfect. More than good enough for LEGO MOCers, but not perfect. Edited June 24, 2011 by fallenangel309 Quote

I remember reading something about them reworking the entire design of the MF so that some dimension wouldn't equal 113.8 (don't remember what unit) because they were afraid fans would think that was a THX 1138 reference. As for the blueprints book, well, for concept designs that I probably won't ever apply to LEGO and will probably just sit on my shelf, it's far from worth $500. Not that I wouldn't absolutely love to have that book. Quote

As for the blueprints book, I'd be sold if it was OT only and therefore cheaper. Are they going to have two different blueprints for R2 since they gave him unique abilities he never had in the OT? Stuff like that would just anger me, keep it to one era. Quote

I wouldn't be surprised if they went the way of the Falcon and increased Artoo's "canon" dimensions to fit all the new crap in. Quote

Churchill Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Well, when I first posted about that book, I didn't think it would generate that much controversy. When I first read about those blueprints, I hadn't thought about them being preliminary, but that makes sense. Once we see better images, it should be easy to compare to the studio models to see how much difference there is. Then it could just be one more source to compare to. I wonder since there are actual pictures in the book if it's not meant to be a "before and after" kind of approach... an early concept compared to the final screen version. Kind of like they've been putting in the Clone Wars DVDs. Quote

Vindicare Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Anyone know about when 10195 will be retired? I'd like to get another one before it goes. Quote
Petit-bleu Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 (edited) Does anyone know where i could find a scan of ahsoka's starfighter "7751" stickers? Thanks. Edited June 25, 2011 by Petit-bleu Quote
Vindicare Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 I'm looking at getting some Brickarms to outfit my clones with. I'm at a stalemate on which rifle to use... I'm going with either the "Space Assault Rifle" or the "M41A Pulse Rifle". I'm going to couple that with the "Space Magnum Pistol". I'm leaning towards the M41A, but not completely. So I turn to you all to help give me the push in the right direction. Wasn't sure if this should be in the MCW forum instead, Mods if you see fit to move it, so be it. Quote

To be honest, the weapons you listed are all Halo weapons. Your best bet would be the Little Arms Shop. Quote

Lego Otaku Posted June 25, 2011 Posted June 25, 2011 Your best choice would be the "turoblaser" in the upcoming Executioner set Quote

speederbike Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I've got a question about the 7597 'Sith Nightspeeder' set's spare parts: I got an extra of both Asajj's saber hilt and Savage's spikey head piece. Is this common or not? Quote
