I was recently thinking about this. I think the Chronicles of Narnia would be a great substitution for what seems to be the end of LEGO Harry Potter. CoN is a very kid-friendly franchise, and with seven books in the franchise there is a lot of potential for great sets. I can think of a few great sets from the first movie alone (Passage through the Wardrobe, Mr. Tumnus's Cave, White Witch's Sleigh, White Witch's Palace...) and with the second movie being released in 2008 there is potential for even more.

However, I think the biggest obstacle is that the current CoN movies are produced by Disney and I don't know if they would be willing to sell the license to LEGO. Hasbro does have a license for CoN so why cant LEGO share a Narnia license with Hasbro like they do with Star Wars. What are your thoughts?

Oh yeay !! Stiffler's mum as the white female canine on her pimped sled :-D (wink wink to those who saw Epic Movie X-D )

Sure it would be great, but its not going to happen IMO !! Megablocks got the licence for it (and really made crap sets :-X ) and I don't think Lego is willing to buy more licences !! Look at how many Disney Mickey sets they did when they had the licence !!

I would love those !! Any heroic fatansy would suit me really ;-)

I would like it, but I doubt we'll get it

I really want more little Harry P 5 sets

I think Lego needs to get away from Licenses unless they are really strong.

Narnia is not a strong franchise. Nothing like HP or SW or Batman.

Out of curiosity, why do you say that Narnia is not a strong franchise while HP is.

I don't think Lego needs it. It would be quite easy to produce a quality Castle line without a license. And I think the Narnia hype has faded a lot. It didn't seem to have the staying power that Harry Potter and Star Wars had.

Probably because the Narnia universe is closed and has been for over 50 years, while Star Wars and Harry Potter still have the ability to expand.

HP is the best selling kids book of all time. Narnia stuff has been around a long time, many have read it, but realistically it only got a wakeup call because of Lord of the Rings was so huge.

My kids have read or tried to read both. They found Narnia boring by comparison. They could not get through past the second or third book.

The Narnia movie did not do as well as HP, and that was for the best and most famous of the book. When the other ones come along (Prince Caspian 2008 apparently) it will get worse.

Potter still a year of hype left...

Which has more mechandizing - HP or Narnia?

Also, from my recollection of the Narnia books, there are not nearly as many good things to build. Narnia is mostly outdoors and animals, and Lego is not as good at that as it is for rooms and buildings etc.

It wouldn't be too bad, there is some nice potential in the line. But Gylman is right. HP is more popular, and with the cast signed on for the 6th and 7th movie, I don't think we'll be seeing any Lego Chronicles.

Yes, but will we see anymore HP sets. (only one this year and none last year.)

Definately not. The movie wasn't that good, and I'd be surprised to see a sequel. Lego should have jumped on Pirates of the Caribbean and even King Kong. These would have made great license-sets.

Narnia is a decent series but movies and many times books make for crappy sets as we have seen. Even the ability to make potter sets with so many options and LEGo still would not release more than half the cast or many of the good locations. The crap sets that came out for GoF were really not very good.

If you want to go licensed sets, Nintendo is still the best option in my opinion. Mario, Zelda, Kirby and many others are so much better and would do great.
