Got the junior set today, good set. My kids loved it and I have to say I like it also. I think I will get another of it, good parts.

Agree with Captain B. the old bandana is better.

It would be great if you could review the juniors pirate set. You don't have to, but i would love to see a review of it though.

Not to start a fight, but this is LEGO, not PLAYMOBIL or DUPLO. They're supposed to be "blocky".

Sure, they look more "real-to-life," but that's the problem. This is LEGO, not real life. They may be closer to real life shapes, but the curves clash with normal LEGO shapes, which are, by nature, "blocky".

This is my feeling too. Nice to see that so many people prefer the new one though - that means I can easily find someone to trade with!

Sure, they look more "real-to-life," but that's the problem. This is LEGO, not real life. They may be closer to real life shapes, but the curves clash with normal LEGO shapes, which are, by nature, "blocky".

Well it looks blocky enough to me pirate_laugh2.gif for being a new mold,but I'm glad Lego managed to give it printed eyes because I was never a big fan of those souless creepy dots which were supposed to be the eyes. Edited by LOTR34

No it is also in Lego stores. But it is a junior set so it will probably come to regular stores also. Don't think it would make any sence to just have it in official Lego stores.

Well, I prefer the old croc; the new one looks ok, but more like a crocodile monster than an actal crocodile... the bulging eyes contribute to that effect.

Is the junior set only available from lego's official site? The set gets quite expensive with shipping cost... Would be much nicer to buy it in a store. There is no Lego store around here.

Well, you'd have to order it multiple times. But then again it is not that good.

I have 2 sets meanwhile and that is probably enough. That would not be sufficient for "free shipping".

Agreed with you. Abstract blocky aspect is actually a nice thing for a toy. That's why I find the new palm-trees quite acceptable. They are more functional than the old ones, since you can attach frogs and stuff on them.

I got my lego calendar yesterday!

(the christmas present)

It has the new pirate ship as picture for July (and there is a monkey on the bottom of the page)!

Could you take a picture of it??

Thanks for posting the picture pirate_satisfied.gif Kinda dissapointing that it's exactly the same picture from the set box and I don't get why they're using redcoats from the 2009 sets since we get bluecoats this year.

Yepp. The redcoats were also coming as a surprise to me.

I am guessing the graphics had to be done for the calendar before the new blue designs were finalized and available for general use.

I guess I prefer the new crocodile to the old for nostalgic reasons, but if I was not familiar with it already I'd choose the newer one. I just don't like the eyes though, they seem un-Legolike somehow? Like even the updated horse had the right kind of eyes.

Forgot to ask you,how does the new bandana look??You prefer the original or the new??

I got mine, now. To answer the hottest question I made 4 pics off all sites of the bandana ontop of a pirate. So everybody can make his/her decision.

In my opinion the frontlook makes the decision. It looks terrible, it is totally flat and taut. It does not look like a pirate bandana
