Well sometimes people need to set aside their nostalgia and accept that things need changing,for example I loved the Lone Ranger revolvers and it's sad to see Lego isn't using them anymore.But sometimes new isn't necessarily better..coughnewbandanacough

But I do agree that the sword needs changing.

Where did you get that rapier? It is much better than the more foil-esque LEGO rapier.

This NEW vs OLD debate makes me think of the 3rd vs 4th debate for D&D.

I agree with the monkeys.

Why did they replace them with.... frogs???? They look totally out of place.

And I actually kinda surprised they didn't include the S10 Sea Captain's seagull on this theme.

I was totally expecting to see that mould being reused here.

I love the saber, it can t be better.

Full agreement. Just because something could look fancier, doesn't mean it needs to. The current saber is simple, attractive, and fits multiple roles. Same with the monkey. If it isn't broken, it doesn't need fixing. (I'm looking at you, unnecessarily updated Castle sword that was even more generic and useful than the pirate saber...)

On things I would like, a blue and yellow parrot like the picture you posted. Also a green and yellow one...

I would like to point out that a sabre/cutlass is different from a rapier, like the BrickArms one that Captain Brausnfeld has shown us. So there is no point in wanting one to be replaced, as they are not the same thing. And I hardly think it is possible to replace the current sabre with a better version.

Having said that, I probably wouldnt mind seeing the LEGO *rapier* being replaced by something more like the BrickArms one, but I wont let it get in my way of enjoying the current mold.

I am surprised people are making a huge fuss about one, fuffing, mold.

I am surprised someone would seriously come here just to tell us this.

Feel free to put the discussion on a more constructive track, by providing a pictoral review of one of the upcoming sets for example.

I just bought the junior set (and 12 minifigs...), will open it when I come home. I'm excited to see the bandana mold in the brick... Then I can decide whether to get some old bandanas for the upcoming pirate sets, or mix some old and new ones.

In Danish, the ship is called, "Large Pirate Ship." Still a better name than Brick Bounty. pirate_laugh_new.gif

actually, if you open the product descriptions in the catalog, you can get hi-res images of each of the boxes. I havent been on in a while, do we have those here yet?

Pirate sets were on lego.fr since the 1st of January, but they are still without pictures. I think it wil be possible to order them a few days before the 1st of March, as was the case with the Junior set (that I just got delivered).

By the way, in French 70413 is called plainly "Pirate ship". Obviously, they lacked inspiration here as well :)

Where are the videos? I don't see them at the sight just the map, the products, characters, games, and downloads.

Holy cajoli, I forgot to mention this a while back! One of my very very reliable sources claims that we will see one other Pirates set in 2015... a Pirates Chess set! Very exciting news if you ask me!
