Venkefedo Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 I mostly stick with OT as well, but the odd PT and especially TCW set has found its way into my home. I don't much care for TCW's faces for humans, but for aliens they're fantastic. I also got the smaller two TOR sets (Jedi Striker & the Battlepack); keep hesitating over the Sith ship and the Jedi Defender. I'll be snagging the Ghost & the Phantom shuttle from REBELS when they hit, and I'm hoping we'll get another wave or two of MicroFighters. I keep hoping TLG will switch Luke's hair color from Tan to Dark Tan, tho… and give Chewie minifigs taller Woody legs. Quote
Jdurg Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I'm an OT person, and I'm also returning from the Dark Side. The Simpsons' House, and minifigures, got me back into Lego, then Star Wars just hit me. When pay day comes, I always go out and try to get some fun stuff. I will pick up some PT stuff, but try to avoid the EU or Clone Wars sets unless my addiction is too strong. Thus far, I have the following: Death Star I Millenium Falcon Palpatine's Arrest Jabba's Barge Jabba's Palace Desert Skiff Rancor Pit Anakin's Jedi Starfighter Geonesis Duel UCS Sandcrawler Death Star Battle Pack AT-RT Mandalorian Speeder Salecumi Duel (sp?) General Grevious' Wheel Bike Tantive IV X-Wing I plan to eventually get an Imperial Star Destroyer, or Super Star Destroyer, as well as the Ewok Villiage. When the Mos Eisley Cantina comes out here in the states shortly, I'll pick that up too. Also figure I need to get an AT-AT at some point. All depends on how I'm feeling, and how long I'm willing to wait to get a shipment to arrive. May need to take a trek to NYC sometime in order to visit a Lego Store or Lego Playland there to pick something up. (I'm only a 2 hour train ride from the city). Quote
Pointblank Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I have 109 star wars sets, and it mainly revolves around the latest revision of a set. OT is my preferred from a collection standpoint, but I do like a number of PT scenes and Clone Wars animated series, which I recreate such as Battle of Geonosia, Kashyyyk, Pod Race, Darth Maul and the starships. I do dabble in the Old Republic and some EU content as well. Quote
Reg the ARC Trooper Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I'm focused on clones. Im buying battle packs and used clones in the net. I don't like big sets of star wars - im buying used bricks by weight (gray bricks to sw) and most important parts ( plates / curved plates). Quote
AndyRiley8 Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I'm mainly focused on OT stuff as they are my favourite films and I am in the process of collecting elements for three big MOCs. I started with Hoth and bought everything I could find relating to it. I have Echo base 7879 (dismantled and used for parts and figures) at least three 7749s, a 7666 (used for parts and figures), four 75014 Battle of Hoths (I just had to have General Rieekan), the Wampa cave and loads of battle packs. My Echo base MOC also has three X wings and an MF with at least 2 At-Ats and a couple of At-Sts outside. I had planned to concentrate just on Hoth, but then i see random sets and think oh i have to have that, either for the figures of the look of the set. I'm planning a Docking Bay 94 scene so I have bought up things like Luke's landspeeder, the original Cantina, Droid escape and as many 'Sand troopers' as i can. I will be buying the new Cantina very soon and a shed load of tan bricks! I also got the Jabba's palace, Rancor Pit, two desert skiffs and will eventually get Jabba's sail barge to compliment this set up. For my Endor MOC I have the 8083 Battle of Endor and all the smaller Ewok /Endor battle packs etc. I hope to get the Ewok village soon too. This MOC is last on my list though at the moment, so isnt a priority. I also have random purchases of sets that dont relate to the bigger MOCs im doing, Like the Malevolance, Palpatine's arrest, battle on genosis. I just cant help myself sometimes I don't display anything at the moment as my girlfriend hates my lego obsession she has agreed to me having a Lego room though when we move house Quote
kr-lik Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I used to buy whatever set (mainly OT) but then I realised I spend too much money on this and it takes up too much space... decided to sell most of the "small sets" leave only the TIE's and start collecting UCSs ;] Quote
miles teg Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I only collect OT sets, being from that era myself ! I really don't like the CW stuff but my son collects PT and CW so I do get to see them and I think some of the PT sets are nice. I'm limited by family budget but after a year or so my humble OT collection stands at: 9493 x wing 9492 tie fighter 750014 battle of hoth 75003 a wing 9496 desert skiff 8092 Luke's landspeeder 7657 at st 7965 millenium falcon 8097 slave 1 2x hoth imperial battlepacks 2x hoth rebel battlepacks Endor battlepack Assorted odd minifigs I think that's it. Generally on a rotation to be displayed on my shelf but all in their boxes at the moment : ) Quote
Retro Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 I mainly stick to OT because if I'm displaying them or creating a scene I don't really want to mix periods. I enjoy watching the prequels with my son but I don't like the sets much. The Sith Infiltrator is pretty awful. And I have no interest in all those Vulture Droids and Homing Spider thingys Funnily enough, although I have no interest in watching Clone Wars cartoons, I think some of the vehicles are great. The Bounty Hunter Gunship is beautiful . And I wouldnt Mind having that Pre Viszla ship. Quote

Alita Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 Simple: I buy what I like Mostly ships - I don't know why but I loooooooooove starships. Preference is OT stuff, but if I see EU or Clone things I like I buy them too Quote
TheWolffe Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I was introduced to Star Wars by watching the OT but it never clicked with me unfortunately (I like the ships though!). The PT was okay, crappy acting but all i wanted was more clone battles after that. Then the clone wars show came out and I was hooked. I'm a huge fan of large scale battles with endless battle, destruction and fearless heroic leaders (some fantastic story and character development was a bonus, made the Jedi who died in EP III more sad). So all I collect so far and probably will only collect unless the new movies/show draws me in will be. 1. Anything with clones and their vehicles. 2. Any new jedi. never hurts to have more! 3. Droids, vehicles, bigger droids, sith. Gotta have someone to fight the clones! 4. Some bounty hunter sets. I do have Jabba's palace/sail barge. Only OT sets I own. 5. KOTOR. I love the sets TLG have released for this series and have them all. My Brickset says: I currently have 82 sets, 46 different. A lot of doubles! I own 567 minifigs but I have more. Just can't be bothered updating it Quote
Venkefedo Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 5. KOTOR. I love the sets TLG have released for this series and have them all. Minor quibble, TLG's only released one 'set' for KOTOR: the Darth Revan poly The others are TOR (no "Knights Of" in front of it)…but I'd love some KOTOR sets. Not many vehicle possibilities beyond the Ebon Hawk, the Sith starfighters you shoot down in the turret mini games, and swoops (and I guess that shuttle near the end of the game before the Star Forge), but plenty of playset/environment options. They could probably easily construct a wave or two. And, most importantly, we'd probably get T3-M4 and HK-47. Nothing wrong with that! (I'd still like some color variations on T7-O1 tho--the in-game customization options pretty much all look better than the default) Quote
Mahariel Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Honestly, I don't think Lego know the difference. Besides, it'd probably be cheaper for them to put everything under the one TOR line. It's not that innappropriate, a lot of the themes, characters and vehicles from KoTOR 1 & 2 cross over to TOR. Revan was a nice start, sure. But there's so much room for more sets. Personally, I'd like to see the Endar Spire, but don't think we'll ever see the scale I'm thinking of! They've barely scratched the surface on what they could sell from TOR, though. I'd would love to see the Phantom for the Imperial Agent ship made into Lego, especially with an interior. It would also be great if they released battlepack sized sets and included all 8 classes from the game as unnamed minifigures, much like the Jedi and Sith included with the Jedi Defender. Most of the walkers and ground vehicles in the MMO are unfortunately nothing special. While reminiscent of both Republic and Imperial walkers, but they're very blocky and not very memorable so probably wouldn't sell. I honestly think the setting for The Old Republic is much better than the story through Episode 1- 6, it's much darker. Palpatine's Empire is a pretty laid back by comparison... Also, Hi! I suppose I'm new. Had to weigh in on TOR! But I've been visiting this site for quite some time now :P Quote
grum64 Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) Easy. I buy & build what Jake, and now George, like. Whilst the sets they now have, the 7662 MTT, 7676 & 75021 Republic Gunships and 75004 Headhunter can't be called a collection by some members standards it's the beginning of one. I suppose I'm new. Had to weigh in on TOR! But I've been visiting this site for quite some time now :P Hi! I suppose you're right, and I wouldn't really quibble over "(KO)TOR" so long as stuff was made! I love the battlepack ideas; throw in various speeder builds (even the one from the Republic/Sith set in new colors) and they could churn out those sets super-quick (I've long wanted Hasbro and TLG to do up the silver & red KOTOR Sith Troopers, but neither seem as enamored of them as I am). Haven't nabbed the Defender yet, but I love the look of the Knight & Consular. Getting more named characters from the trailers & game would be epic as well. Quote
dolphins79 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 I agree...like Sith stuff or dark side of the force sets Quote
Mahtion Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 1. Iconic Starships 2. Jedi/Sith 3. Complex and fun builds I have an equal mix between PT and OT: A-Wing X-Wing (2nd favorite build) Y-Wing V-wing Z-95 headhunter Jedi Interceptor Saesee Tiin's Jedi fighter TIE fighter Vaders TIE advanced Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle Republic Frigate Millennium Falcon Sith Fury (favorite build) Jedi Defender Also some BP's here and there and smaller sets like AT-ST, Droid Escape, Sith night speeder, Desert Skiff, etc. Quote
ScottyHaze Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I'm mostly an original trilogy collector but sometimes I'll break down and get a PT set if I just gotta have it, like the other day I bought the bounty hunter pursuit set cause it's just such a cool scene in AOTC and I love all the rare colored pieces in the set. For the most part though, my display shelves are broke down into a few sections; forest, snow, sand, imperial ships, rebel ships and then a few UCS sets on top shelf Quote
Jdurg Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Now that I have been in the good land of LEGO for a while now, I will say that I am a movie collector. So if it's from one of the movies then I will pick it up and own it. Hence my desire to get the Super Star Destroyer and Imperial Shuttle. I've realized that I really enjoy the sets that not only look good, but have some fun play features to them. It's not like I sit around playing with the sets every day, but if there are some nice play features in there that don't hugely impact the look of the set, I enjoy it. Like with the B-Wing how the cockpit auto-rotates so that it's facing the right direction is amazing, and doesn't detract from the look. Quote
Robianco Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Mostly OT... well pretty much entirely OT but if there's something from the EU that I like I'll pick that up. The trailer for The Old Republic was fantastic so I've always held that in high regard as part of the SW Universe. I've never bough a PT or Clone Wars set... I just didn't like the character development and ultimately how they were on screen enough to want to buy into it. I actually didn't mind some of the Clone Wars but I don't like the Lego figure design for that range. I'm waiting to see Rebels before pressing the button on that. Quote
Crazy Packers Fan Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Like most of you, I'm all into the Original Trilogy. I also try to not pick up sets that I had in the past (X-Wing, Snowspeeder, B-Wing, etc.) unless they're greatly improved, as I want a new building experience, plus I figure it would always be possible to rebuild those past sets which are now in pieces. I'll make exceptions for the prequels if they're really good sets. I thought in particular Palpatine's Arrest was quite unique and I am very satisfied with it. Quote
Slurpifier Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I'm mostly an OT guy (Ignore my profile picture ) A reason for this is because I grew with up with the Original Trilogy more than the Prequel Trilogy, and thus the Lego sets are a lot more iconic to me. However, I do tend to buy a few PT sets, mainly those that can help me build up Droid and Clone armies pretty fast, but the problem is, is that there is too many variations I have most of the Old Republic sets, I just missed out on the Fury Class Interceptor As for the Clone Wars, I'm pretty sure I have only purchased under ten sets of them Quote
AwesomeBantha Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Definetly OT-because there are Banthas in IV and VI ! However I do occasionally buy PT sets, like 75021 (RGS) because they are awesome! I also own a mishmash of SWTOR and CW sets, mostly gifts and figure packs (useful for customs!) Did I mention that Tatooine is my favorite planet ? Quote
