Speaking of CMFs and Mixels, this listing on that shopping site is pretty interesting. For $4, it seems like there will be Mixel sets with a mystery build? I'm not sure.

Yeah, that listing is a bit confusing. It's unlikely that they will be blind packaged since we have already seen the packaging which shows which character is inside. Maybe they know how much the sets are going to cost, but don't have individual set numbers yet, so they just made one general listing for now.

But don't you have the same problem with the CMFs or any collect-them-all themes for that matter? If the sets were any larger/more expensive, I could see how that would be a problem, but at only $4 per set, I don't think they'll have much of a loss if some are less popular than others as long as at least half of them sell well. I'm no business expert either, but that's what I think. :shrug_oh_well:

The CMFs have the blind packages on their side. In fact, that's why they can afford to have the more "experimental" figs that might not be as popular with TLG's core audience: for the typical buyer, the product you wind up with is more or less random, so the figs can be expected to clear out at a rate similar to if all 16 were a single uniform product.

With products that are clearly labeled as different products, you don't want to run the risk that some will be considerably more popular than the others, especially when they're packed in evenly-distributed cartons or sold to retailers in evenly-mixed lots (which is the case with the smaller HF sets: if you want to stock this year's 44006 Breez, you're going to have to order a mixed lot of 44006 Breez and 44004 Bulk). And in that case, retailers might not want to order the next set because they fear a sizable portion will end up as "shelfwarmers".

Maybe they know how much the sets are going to cost, but don't have individual set numbers yet, so they just made one general listing for now.

They have a similar listing for the non-blind-packaged LEGO Friends series 3 animal packs, so it's possible they're just using the product number for a full "carton" with a generalized name for the contents of that carton.

I doubt the regular Mixels sets will be $4. They're at least 50 pieces each I believe, and even polybag sets and LEGO Friends animal packs with even fewer pieces tend to sell for at least $5.

I guess I misinterpreted the size when I looked at the pictures of the boxes from Comic Con, but $4? That's a really low price, even for a small set. Aren't those tiny City sets like $10? This is the kind of thing I expect to get for four dollars, not something the size the Mixels are. The price per piece must be pretty great.

The more I study these sets the more they begin to grow on me. I remember back in the 90's microsoft had a movie maker software I think called movie magic creator or something like that which had monsters that looked exactly like these.

Looking at the set numbers for the Mixels sets that have been revealed for the first wave, I'm actually starting to believe that I was wrong and Oky was right. They do seem to span across nine different set numbers, so if the set numbers get larger with each wave (as past sets have done since last year's switch to five-digit set numbers), then the first wave will apparently include nine sets. I wonder if they will all be the same size or if some might be slightly larger or smaller.

The three we've seen are all at least 50 pieces. So they should probably cost between $4–6, assuming the pricing is reasonably equitable. $4 would be consistent with that listing we saw, and they list the non-blind-packaged LEGO Friends animal packs with a similar shared listing. But I find the idea that the sets could be just $4 almost too good to be true, even if they don't contain any minifigures.

Nice find! Looks like I was right about them being waves of 9 individually packaged characters. Did you find a listing for 41503 as well? I'm guessing it's the crazy-looking rock dude in the lower right corner of the background art. Sadly, these new Mixels aren't as interesting as the first three we've seen. They don't seem to have any new parts and look kinda like alternate models of the first three. Also, looks like they will cost more than $4. Seems fair, though, given the average piece count. Still, I like the design and concept of these.

The one missing Mixel (stone/black ones) is called 'Krader'. He's got a small arm and then one with huge fingers.

Also, you can combine them to make huge monsters.

Remember that Creator sets have always had some of the best bricks pr. dollar values. Now they also got the cutest sets. Man I like them.

Actually, I do see at least one new part not featured in the first three we saw. 40501, 40502, 40506, and 40507 all have a 1x2 plate with three tiny teeth sticking out of the side. This piece is also used for the claws of the Legends of Chima Legend Beast sets.

Incidentally, the Legend Beast sets also use the same tiny ball joints as the Mixels. I'm not sure when their date of release is, but they might be appearing in stores sooner than the Mixels themselves.

Neat to see piece counts for these sets. Evidently, out of series 1, Zorch has the fewest parts (45), while Volectro has the most (70). Unless Krader has more or fewer parts than the ones we've seen here.

$4 each? *oh2* I'm buying all of them!

And all with those new ball joint parts and other new pieces... :moar:

Oops, just read what Oky posted. What a shame, $4 seemed too good to be true.

But I'm still buying a few, I'm just in love with these ball joint parts.

Sooo... impressions after seeing pictures;

1. Lot's and lots of really cool and seemingly useful new parts. These look to be a greebliers dream come true.

2. Just wacky enough to find an audience in kids at that price.

3. Recreational Pharmaceuticals are by all appearances legal in Denmark. Or TLG's corporate drug testing policy is geared to insure that adequate levels of all types are found in the design staff.
