x105Black Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 From all those 21 projects, I can only see the 50's diner and the ROBLOX projects being released as sets None of them stick out to me, personally, but the Landrover looks like the kind of thing LEGO would want to release. Doesn't mean I like it, though. I guess I kind of like the Plum Creek set, despite my lack of interest in Little House on the Prairie, but it looks like too many pieces to be approved (the same could be said of a few of the other better submissions in the Most Supported category). jonwil Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Of the items on the "most supported" list, I would potentially buy the Lamborghini, the computer thing, maybe the Tram (although I am not a huge fan of the color scheme), the boat repair shop, the Bluesmobile, the Arcade Machines (depending on exactly what games ended up being included) and the LEGO store. The Agents of Shield airplane is amazing but its far too large to ever be a viable set. Quote

I'd also prefer the Old Fishing Store by the same builder, which is currently in review. Quote
LEGODalekbuster523 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 The Agents of SHIELD one looks like a set already. I hope it reaches 10,000 supporters. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 And now the LEGO Observatory - Mountain View has reached 10,000 supports as well! Huzzah! Quote
Khscarymovie4 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Yeah! This is my favorite so far of the 6 sets that will be in the next review. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 (edited) It's lovely indeed, and probably my own favorite (though I like all of them). I think the LHC and Voltron projects are the two likeliest, though. With less than a month and a half left in the period, and the next few top vote-getters that are still gathering support all being a few hundred supports away and not moving so quickly, it's possible these this batch will have only these six projects, which would make it the smallest review batch we've had in a couple years. The last batch with only six projects wound up giving us three of them as sets, though. I can't quite see that happening here, unless a few more projects make it in, but I do think it's not completely unlikely we could get as many as two sets out of just these six projects. Then again, we could have more. Aside from there currently being four projects gathering support that each have over 9k votes, we could always see another new project appear and start just racking up support like there's no tomorrow, all the way to 10,000 - that happened with the Voltron project, which blasted its way to the goal in a mere three weeks. A possible inheritor of that mantle is this Women of NASA project, which already has over 1700 supports after being posted a few days ago - that project is a rocket, so to speak. For a while it looked like this Mystery Science Theater 3000 project was going to do the same, but it seems to have stalled a bit after getting to the 3000 mark, funnily enough. Meanwhile, of course, we're still waiting on four projects that have already been announced from the last two reviews, and we still have the current review going, so we should still have a steady stream of Ideas sets for a while, even if all these projects wind up being declined. CM4Sci Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Better than the collider thing. Only thing I don't like about it is the giant brown block of ground on the inside, they would definitely have to change that. Quote
Robert8 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 I think we going to have 0 projects approved again in the next review.... Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 (edited) I think we going to have 0 projects approved again in the next review.... I doubt it. I think the Gingerbread House is extremely likely, and the Fossil Museum and Johnny Five both have decent chances. And from the batch coming together now, I think the LHC and Voltron both have good chances. Edited July 22, 2016 by Blondie-Wan Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 (edited) Sorry I meant the review after the next one And from the batch coming together now, I think the LHC and Voltron both have good chances. ____________________ Looking again now, I think I'm probably wrong about these six being likely to be the only six in this batch. I think the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster and the Modular Construction Site both have a shot at making it into the same batch, though I'm not super optimistic about how they'll fare in review (though you never know)! I think Lovelace & Babbage might have a decent shot in review, though I'm as unsure of that as I am about just which review batch it'll make it into (but I do think it'll definitely make it to review, as will the Star Wars UCS X34 Landspeeder, which I think unlikely to pass review). Aanchir Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 And now the LEGO Observatory - Mountain View has reached 10,000 supports as well! Huzzah! Charming project, no licensing agreement required, and a subject LEGO hasn't really had in sets before (a full-scale observatory)! These things all help its chances. The original concept is way more complex and parts-intensive than it needs to be, as is the revised (close to 2500 pieces) version, but the parts count could easily be GREATLY reduced by removing the textured surface on the two flat sides on the mountain. I can't imagine anybody shedding any tears over that. Using larger bricks for the flat walls of the observatory could also help, since smaller bricks are often just complexity for complexity's sake rather than really enhancing the look of the model. Speaking optimistically, I think it could be reduced to a $100 or $120 set without hurting its design, which is big but not outrageously so. Quote

It may also help that by the time they announce the results from this batch, they'll still be working through the current backlog (with both the Apollo 11 Saturn V and Beatles Yellow Submarine sets yet to come), plus whatever they approve of the nine sets currently in review. I can't help but wonder whether it'll push the production slot for this far enough down the line that they might have a little more leeway than usual for Ideas to make a larger set. Quote
x105Black Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 The Beatles set has me so excited. I almost forget it's coming, then I hear it mentioned again and I get very happy. I'll be extremely happy if the Voltron set is approved. I was a huge fan, and I've been watching the new version of the show on Netflix (Legendary Defender), and it's much better than I expected. I think the Ideas project has a good chance of making it into production, as a nostalgic 80's license making a return to popular culture. Quote

If the mods will forgive a brief off-topic digression (emphasis on "brief", I promise!), is the new Netflix Voltron really best appreciated by having first watched the older material, or can a newbie just jump right into the new series? It's good both ways! As someone who watched the original, I love it. My girlfriend, on the other hand, did not grow up with Voltron, and she is enjoying it at least as much as I am. I think a whole Voltron theme would be awesome. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Thanks for the opinion! I think I'll go ahead and jump right in with the new show, then seek out the older stuff if I like it. Quote
PicnicBasketSam Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I supported the Modular Construction Site, but it presently has 4,000 pieces. They would have to drastically cut down the size of the building under construction, and therefore the crane, if they wanted this to be a feasible set... parts limit is 3000 now. Also, I really hope that observatory becomes a set! I would totally buy that, even if it was rather pricey. Quote
