Klaus-Dieter Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 (edited) After having noticed the great news of TLC releasing the 10184 Town Plan for 150 Euros (in Germany) already in January 2008 I had an idea: Since the 10184 Town Plan is - in my opinion and surely in the opinion of the most AFOLs and JFOLs - the best Lego (City) set which has been ever released, I thought it would be nice to collect ideas of you which other "Super Sets" like this one you would like to buy. In order that you know what I mean with "Super Sets" following description: If TLC will somewhere in the future release some other sets like this excellent 10184 Town Plan then perhaps with a similar construction. That means - looking at 10184 - concretely: 1. first building (Gas Station) with three minifigs (shop owner, fuel tanker driver and man with barrow) 2. second building (Cinema) with two minifigs (cinema owner and woman for the bar) 3. third building (Town Hall) with two minifigs (couple) 4. little addition (fountain) with one minifig (man with newspaper) 5. two vehicles or something other (fuel tanker and wedding car) This is the construction of 10184 - and now you can write down your ideas for sets with simillar construction - not only from the City theme, but also Castle, WW, SW, Space, ... whatever you want! Since I have of course some ideas and wishes, too - my first proposal: For the 35 jears jubilee 2010 of Wild West sets a set similar to 365 from the year 1975: http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/365-1?showpic=1089 Wild West Scene 1. Saloon a saloon in red and yellow colours consisting of two floors: first floor: room with swinging door, counter, rack, two-four seats and table second floor: balcony and room with bed, cupboard and commode including two barrels, a horse, some cups, some tumblers and a suitcase minifigs: saloon owner, cowboy and bandit 2. Post Office a post office in yellow and brown colours consisting of two floors: first floor: post office with desk and rack second floor: post man's apartment with a bed, a table with an oil lamp and a seat including some letters and packets minifis: post man and old man with top hat 3. Bank a bank in white, red and blue colours (similar to the one in the Legoredo Town set from the year 1996) consisting of only one floor: counter with safe including some gold pieces and some bills minifigs: banker and bandit 4. Watering Place a watering place consisting of: a big water barrel and two shrubs including a horse minifig: sheriff 5. Stage Coach a stage coach in red and yellow colours including two horses, some gold pieces, some suitcases, a box, a treasure box and some letters minifg: coachman and woman You perhaps noticed that I would like to have 10 minifigs in this proposed set although I wrote that these "Super Sets" should be very similar constructed to 10184 Town Plan. But of course variations are allowed. You perhaps see that I did only include one vehicle (instead of two) in this set. Instead of the missing second vehicle I would prefer two more minifigs for better playability. So, that's my first proposal - and where are yours?! Edited October 24, 2007 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
Derek Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Amusement park 1.Ferris Wheel- Biggest part of the set, similar to the creator set, but smaller. 4 minfigs: operator, man, woman, old man and child 2.Merry go round- i dont know how this would be built, im sure lego could figure out a way. 3 Minfigs: operator, Boy, Girl 3.Pirate ship- not too difficult, using the viking hull pieces. 6 Minifigs: Operator, 2 women, man ,child, and entertainer dressed as pirate (chance to reuse pirate acsessiories) 4. Games- two different games on one baseplate, ballon darts and water gun game w/ seats. Includes lots of prizes(ex. Belville teddy bear, cat, etc) Minifigs: two opperators 3 players and a kid whos happy cuz he won. EXTRAS Food booth- very small food stand built on a 8x8 plate. All sorts of food and drink pieces. Minifigs: vendor Picnic table- goes with food booth, includes garbage can. Minfigs: sanitation worker (for the trash) Kiosk- similar to the food booth. comes with park maps and anything else a kiosk would distibute at an amusement park. Minifig: operator All of these models (rides) would be operational using the motors like in the creator sets. 21 minfigs seems like a push, so the mf total doent seem realistic unless thes are released sepratley as opposed to an entire set. Price- $150-200 USD DP8 Quote
Derek Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Anyone else have ideas? im really intersted in the possibility of more sets like this! *sweet* DP8 Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 I was looking for this topic!University Campus 1. Main building 2. Residence 3. stores 4. Small other hall That's a very nice idea, Lt. Col. Thok! Anyway I don't understand why TLC hasn't released a school until now. I think that mainly JFOLs would like something like this very much and would consequently even buy it. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 What about a 1970's style town set? *sweet* I was thinking about that, too, LEGO Maniac JEM! Do you mean a set based on the old sets like http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/1589-1?showpic=5770 or http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/1592-1?showpic=5761 ? That would be great! A proposal for this idea: Town Square 1. Bank a bank in black and grey colours with lots of big windows, consisting of two floors: first floor: counter with computer, safe, big foliage plant, bancomat inside and bancomat outside second floor: writing table with computer and telephone, three seats, a little foliage plant and a little cupboard with a coffee machine including some gold pieces, some bills, two cups and a suitcase minifigs: two bankers (one male and one female) and a salesman (2. Greengrocer a greengrocer's shop in white and green colours, consisting of only one floor: rack on the one side and table with cash box on the other side including some boxes and a huge assortment of fruits and vegetables minifigs: greengrocer and woman 3. Hotel a noble hotel in yellow and white colours, consisting of two floors: first floor: entrance with revolving door, reception with telephone and key boxes (behind the reception) and two seats with a little table second floor: guestroom with bed, writing table with telephone, seat and a little foliage plant; bath room with washbasin and toilet (a shower would be nice but I fear that there is too little place) including two suitcases and three keys minifigs: hotelier and suitcase carrier 4. Knight Statue a statue in the form of a totally black knight on a white stand including a dog minifig: old man with walking stick 5. Limousine And Greengrocer Delivery Van a black limousine with doors in the front (where the driver sits) and with doors back (where the rich man/woman sits) a white-green greengrocer delivery van (similar to the delivery van in the "Pizza to Go" set from 199?) with doors in the front and doors behind to load the van (similar to the new post car from 2008) What do you think? Is this something you thought about, too, LEGO Maniac JEM? (Another wish/idea/proposal will follow in about 20 minutes!) Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 (edited) Here another idea for a Town Square: City Center 1. Jeweler a jeweler's shop in white and black colours, consisting of two floors: first floor: window display, showcase and table with computer and cash box second floor: jeweler's studio with writing table with telephone and with several appliances including some jewels, some gold pieces, two clocks, some tools and two grey suitcases minifigs: jeweler, security transport officer and woman 2. Post Office a post office in yellow and red colours, consisting of only one floor: desk with telephone and computer, bancomat and a big foliage plant including a rucksack, some packets and some letters minifigs: post officer and little boy 3. Boutique a noble boutique in pink and white colours or light blue and white colours with lots of big windows, consisting of two floors: first floor: two window displays, hallstand and table with computer and cash box second floor: two hallstands and a changing cubicle including some pieces of clothing minifig: saleswoman and little girl 4. Bus Station a bus station in form of a shelter and a display panel including a suitcase minifig: bus driver 5. Little Bus and Security Transport Van a little bus in white and blue colours with doors a security transport van (similar to the delivery van in the "Pizza to Go" set from 199?) with doors in the front and doors behind to load the van (similar to the new post car from 2008) That's it! Do you have some other/new ideas, too? Edited October 24, 2007 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
yovnocrats Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 i was thinking about this, and it came to me. a drive in. there would be a big screen with interchangeable slides, each featuring different movies. i imagine the screen would be made out of several normal tiles, then covered in flat tiles, with some studded tiles, to add a raised layer to slid the different movies in and out of. then the movie slides themselves would be constructed similarly, only without the raised section, so they could fit in the screen. for the ground, there would be several rows (similar to the joust divider in this year's joust set, only taller and longer) with speakers, and marker poles on them. these could be set in any arrangement you wanted, much like the components of town plan. then, there would be 4 0r 5 cars, and 2 people per car, all 50's style, that you could put in any space you desired in front of the screen. i would buy that for sure. Klaus-Dieter Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 A drive in, that's a very nice idea, yovnocrats! - I would never have hit on it! You description is very detailed so that everybody can imagine what you mean. Very well done! I've got only one question: Don't you think that there is missing some sort of kiosk? Quote
Section8 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 a drive in. there would be a big screen with interchangeable slides, each featuring different movies. i imagine the screen would be made out of several normal tiles, then covered in flat tiles, with some studded tiles, to add a raised layer to slid the different movies in and out of. A year or two ago, one of the German model companies that makes kits for model railroads had a drive-in that had a small LCD screen in it. So you attached a VCR/DVD to it and your drive-in played real movies. I thought it was an awesome idea. It was probably Faller who made that kit, they make tons of great models. I'm sure some of us more technically proficient AFOLs could cook something up similar. Frankly, I'm surprised no one has yet. Quote
Johnny 5 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 How about a car dealership with a office that has a convertible inside it. Several cars and trucks. And red and blue flags everywhere. :-D :-D Quote

Bat signal on the roof. Minifigs: Commissioner Gordon and Batgirl (Barbara Gordon). 3)Joker's Hideout: Abandoned toy factory with various traps inside. Minifigs: Joker (new version) and Harley Quinn. 4)Gotham Cemetary: Small green plate with fencing and large gravestone inscribed with the name 'Wayne'. jedikermit Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 First of all, as a teacher, it's great to see all the requests for a school of some kind. It does seem odd that in so many years of LEGOing, we haven't seen any schools. Here's my idea for another chunk of the city: Museum Plaza Museum Two-story museum, including small lobby, two dinosaur models, one dinosaur skeleton, geology and history section, and outdoor coffee garden. Pizzeria Pizza shop downstairs, apartment upstairs. Library Two-story Library, with lion sculptures on either side of the front steps, books and computers inside, and a stern-faced "shushy" librarian minifig. Playground Small playground, with a merry-go-round, swing, slide, and bench. Vehicles New City Taxi, Pizza Delivery Moped, Museum Van ...and about 12 assorted minifigures. Price: around 150 USD. Any suggestions? In addition: 50 soldiers, 25 per side. I really like the number 50; its so manouverable.... Quote

It's screwed over as apparently knights can kill each other, people can go to Mars to slaughter innocent aliens, but communism vs capitalism would clash too much with creating kid friendly toys. Which sucks for AFOLs :-( But for my idea =>, I've got a wicked idea, at least I think, :-/ in my street there's a beauty-parlour, so why not have your very own beauty-parlour in your LEGO City? It could be a girl LEGO set and for the AFOLs it'd be an excellent supply of female LEGO minifigs. Cause I can assure you, so far, I haven't seen a single dude over there, just females :-P :-P The set could include, two old gossiping ladies, two attractive female employees, one girl with mom and some random woman :-P a car parked outside and a let's say three story building with attic? Edited October 30, 2007 by Hairy Ruben Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 (edited) I totally agree with you, Hairy Ruben! Look at the new Mars Mission sets, at the new Aqua Zone sets and at the new "Castle" sets - they don't only show much too much fantasy (which I really hate) but they even show a lot of violence! So the question why Lego City shouldn't be allowed to include violence is absolutely justifiable. I wouldn't go so far as including war stuff in the City theme - that wouldn't be nice, but I would have no problem and I think there is even no problem to include some bank roobers, some riot policemen with their required equipment and vehicles and something similar to this into this theme. I think that the reason for TLC doesn't including violence in the City theme is that: -Lego should be something special - which it is of course - and so TLG needs to separate from other companies which mainly produce cheap war stuff and vehicles and action figures. -Lego wants to bid each age group (mainly each age groop of kids) sets with which they are able to play and they want to play. So the City theme is something for - I'd say preschoolers and pupils in the first and second class - whereas e. g. "Castle" is something for - I'd say third until sixth class. Consequently violence shouldn't be as much included in the City theme than in the "Castle" theme. But that brings us away from the topic, so: I even agree with you that there should be again some sort of new Paradisa sets (I think you meant something like this, didn't you?) - mainly not because I'm so interested in this theme but because I think it would make even girls getting interested in Lego. Of course there is this Bellville theme but ... I personally would like to see some sets similar to the old Paradisa sets, mainly a light house - they needn't to be in pink! And something other: You're right - female minifigs (and even kids minifigs) are totally underrepresented - if TLG isn't thinking about changing something in the near future (they made one step forward with including two minifigs in the amazing new 10184 Town Plan) then everyone's Lego City will one day be uninhabited! (-: Edited October 30, 2007 by Klaus-Dieter Quote

(-: Imagine that, a LEGO town dying out, those poor brick bastards, LEGO seriously prefers its towns to be populated by nothing but sturdy men, is there some kind of hidden message behind this? 8-| But yes, I do mean Paradisa sets, the name escaped me there :-P , anyway, since everybody's been complaining, and I just happen to have a beauty-parlour in my street, I thought that it might just make a great set for all those frustrated AFOLs out there. couple of other ideas btw, - an animal shelter - financial building or a national bank - cyber caf Quote
