Rick Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Thanks for the news K-D. The City Space theme is a nice idea for a subtheme. It doesn't interest me much though. From reading your descriptions, the thing that strikes me is how uninspired the Police subtheme is. While I realize that there needs to be a big police station as the top-of-the-line set, there is also the third mobile command center in a row. I'm kinda disappointed to see no hospital subtheme. But we've had these discussions before, fire and police sets are probably the biggest City sellers. Looks like personally, I'm saving some money next year. Quote
Tinn-man Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I'm excited about the new prison van! I missed out on the last one. Some more police cars never hurt, too. I'm SUPER excited for the space theme. I'm glad that we're finally getting a return to the realistic space theme instead of the sci-fi realm (although I did enjoy the space police sets, too). Oh, and Klaus, did you see anything in any of the sets that looked like this? I've been wanting a minifig scaled moon lander for a while. Quote
Munkay Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Looking forward to the Police mobile command center. The last one we got was utterly pathetic! The new police station sounds remarkably like the last one with dual garages and the such. Quote
escortmad79 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Wow!! MORE police sets! Have TLG run out of ideas for the City theme? All they seem to pump out is Police & Fire sets on rotation! Give us something else for a change! New hospital, ambulance, vans, taxi, cinema, TV camera van, car transporter (with range of coloured small cars), something original instead of the same old stuff Quote
Joebot Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Wow, more police sets. There's a shocker. I'm sure the set designs are nice, and I'm curious to see pictures ... but, there's not really a lot here that I'm excited about. I liked the Space Port sets from '99 (those were the only decent City sets back in those dark days), and this sounds like a nice update to that sub-theme. Quote
Marckeyh Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 First news of 2011 for me, sweet :) The police theme sounds more or less like a repeat to me, too bad. But they might look nice, we'll see. Can't wait for the space theme pictures! Did you see any technic sets Klaus? Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) Oh, and Klaus, did you see anything in any of the sets that looked like this? I've been wanting a minifig scaled moon lander for a while. No, if I remember right, there isn't something similar to that. But maybe it's hidden in the rocket in the big set - although I highly doubt that since the rocket isn't that wide. Wow!! MORE police sets! Have TLG run out of ideas for the City theme? All they seem to pump out is Police & Fire sets on rotation! Give us something else for a change! New hospital, ambulance, vans, taxi, cinema, TV camera van, car transporter (with range of coloured small cars), something original instead of the same old stuff On the one hand I totally agree with you, escortman79! Police sets have been repeating for decades and TLG should better invent time and money in never before released sets or in re-designs of sets which were released many, many years before. I understand that kids want police, fire, construction site and emergeny that much. And since JFOLs are TLG's main audience it's clear that they have to release some new sets of these themes every year. But - like e. g. with the Train theme - they could make the distance from 3 to four years to have more space for other themes and sets. On the other hand the new Police sets are - at least imo - a big improvement over the police sets of the last ten years. Many components are really similar but all in all the sets look more like in classic Town. And supposably it's even that I'm that excited about these Police sets since the Police sets I own are very small and some of them even in no longer in that a good condition - so I'd like to get some of the new Police sets if possible and depending on what we'll see in the second half of 2011 and for Exclusives. Did you see any technic sets Klaus? Yes and no. There were some in the catalogue - but since I'm not interested in Technic I didn't look at them. Sorry for not being able to help you there. Professor Flitwick Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Disappointing line up. More police, and space sets in city. The Lego City I'd want wouldn't have a space centre, so why don't they just keep space sets to the space theme? Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) Oh hopefully it will be the last police wave for a couple of years and the space theme sounds quite intresting also did you see any new themes at all klaus??? im quite surprised because TLG should have noticed by now that we dont want another police theme we want farms and civilian sets Edited August 9, 2010 by The Red Brick Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) DAMN!!!! MORE POLICE? WHAT IS TLG THINKING? : As for space, it seems ok, but it really doesn''t fit into city. Anyway, I will hold of 10213 till these space sets, and then I will decide what to get . I am still wondering what we will get for the second half... Edited August 9, 2010 by Mrlegoninja Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Wow... police anyone? Think I'll spend less on City next year... Quote
vexorian Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) I think TLG is doing police and fire because they are the most action-oriented parts of city without going completely out of the theme, and kids like action, unfortunately. Edit : "Space" city sets :( . The sad face is in there because that increases the chances we won't have a sci-fi space theme in 2011 :(, city space themes are not really my thing. WhiteFang Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 New Police sets??? As if, we don't have enough. I was expecting more, but then, I am still interested in the new designs which might complement with the earlier ones. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 im quite surprised because TLG should have noticed by now that we dont want another police theme we want farms and civilian sets A new Space theme was already discussed in the "Ideas for new City sets" topic and was surely sent to TLG during their call for new City sets (in 2008). Plus we know that there'll surely be a new theme in summer, too. And there even will be some seperate sets. So there are still some possibilities for civilian sets in 2011. Think even about that - even if we liked it - TLG would release all possible profitable civilian sets in one year, they would have a problem for their sales for the next time. But that TLG doesn't expand the Farm theme is truley disappointing. I'm still hoping for the "City Square" - if it's going to be released, it surely will offer us minimum two civilian buildings. also did you see any new themes at all klaus??? Yes, NinjaGo. Topic "2011 NinjaGo sets". I am still interested in the new designs which might complement with the earlier ones. Indeed the new police hq and all the new police cars go hundred percently with the ones from 2008. Klaus-Dieter Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) Yes, NinjaGo. Topic "2011 NinjaGo sets". Klaus, my good man, the cowboy of Deutschland... where'd you put the ninja topic, action or history? Can't find it... Edited August 9, 2010 by Mr. Elijah Timms Quote

escortmad79 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I am still wondering what we will get for the second half... Another new fire station? Wow... police anyone? Think I'll spend less on City next year... Ditto! Will be spending my hard earned on Minifig collection figs & then older sets from eBay & BL orders for MOCs! Quote
metalgearsolid Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Ditto! Will be spending my hard earned on Minifig collection figs & then older sets from eBay & BL orders for MOCs! Oh space and police sounds good cos I won't need to buy them I think. Ok, I may just change my mind when the pics are out. I do love the 7744 Police HQ and although I already have 2 of that set, any set that can top the 7744 will be a must buy. But I'll leave the space out! Yippee! Time to recover from a really fierce 2010 on the wallet. Plus need to save for Tower Bridge too. Quote
Munkay Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 DAMN!!!! MORE POLICE? WHAT IS TLG THINKING? : As for space, it seems OK, but it really doesn''t fit into city. Think I'll spend less on City next year... You guys need to remember, that TLG's target audience is 6-12 for city sets. Not 18-40. In all, we must remember that kids have, and always will be the driving force for for this theme. Look at 7239 fire truck. Its going around its Th straight yr! Why? Because its one of TLG's most successfully sets. Kids love Police and fire sets. And as long as their are kids interested, TLG will keep'em coming every couple of yrs! Quote
Delta 38 Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Space... hmm. Not sure what to think here. Might get a few sets here and there, but it doesn't have the alien element to it that really appeals me. Still, I'll have to see. If it includes nice minifigs, I may buy some. Is the space shuttle big? I may get it, depending on its size... Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 (edited) Great, just smegging great.....one set.....prison van I want for my son's 7744 police station. OMG and WTF ? What planet is Lego on ? I mean space in city.......this should be a seperate theme altogther, like who puts a rocket pad right next to a city block ? I must thank 'Klaus' for the information - you are a hero ! Now the police theme in Oz won't be until the middle of next year as we still have the 2008 station as a current catalogue item and is still available in some stores (if you can find them). But no shops, no new servo/truck stop and no transport support vehicles.....like road maintance or airport police/security - dam it Lego AFOL's and KFOL's want to build a city not a police state ! I'm a conformist! ! Edited August 9, 2010 by lightningtiger Quote
Fugazi Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Interesting! I must say I'm not really excited by more police sets (my only police set dates back to my childhood) nor the space sub-theme (been there done that), but I'll just wait and see. After all, it's all in the way the sets are designed, the new parts, the minifigs, it may turn out just fine. Thanks for the excellent spy job, K-D! Quote
Lord Arjay Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 More police? I appreciate that it's a big seller and TLG will constantly keep bringing out an endless cycle of fire, police every year. But still, surely we could have had a couple of civilian sets? Well, the space sub-theme has the potential to be good. However I don't think I'll buy any of those unless they ""wow" me. On the pluss side, it leaves me more money to spend on other themes this next year. Thanks for the info! Quote
Zzz Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 K-D you are the man! Thanks for posting all these info! Police sounds boring to me since there is no SWAT team but I might check out the prisoner transport perhaps, we'll see. (not if there is too much blue in it, this blue/white police freaks me out. Hate it.) Space port sounds nice, very classic! Launchpad, shuttle, truck, moonbuggy, all sounds interesting. No civilian sets, well well.. We got plenty this and last year I would say. There might be a few to come in the summer. With some NEW torsos. Looking at you, TLC! Quote
