vitreolum Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) Aymer: Cora, wake up! Cora: WHAT? It's the middle of the night. Aymer: Come one, we have to go to Kaliphlin. Cora: Have you completely lost your senses? Aymer: I've just returned from the spaking troll, the gremlin told me of a guy selling a magic sword. You know I chipped mine. Cora: Argh, another one of your stupid deals... did you forget the outcome of the last deal you got into? Aymer: That one was different... and besides I've never had a magic sword before. And it's shiny! Cora: Fine, we'll go, you spoiled brat. But count me out of this, I'll visit the proper Kaliphlin stores until you get it over with. I bet the sword will break before you hit anything with it. --------- Would like to claim UoP for: wall technique 3 - sand dunes - life in Kaliphlin - Edited January 17, 2015 by vitreolum Quote
Zerobricks Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 (edited) What an awesomely textured building! Nice use of curved pieces for sand deposits too. Edited November 11, 2014 by Zblj Quote
Slegengr Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Wow! Great as usual, vitreolum! The detail that stands out most to me is the bumps on the wall due to the hinge-plate joints. That is excellent texturing! Overall great Kaliphlin feel to the build. The glow from the window is a nice touch. The turrets on the wall are also particularly nice. Brick on, vitreoulum! Quote
Hobbythom Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Great walls.. I especially like the large door and the construction of the windows using leg pieces. Inventive! Quote
Jakorin Swiftsword Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Like I said on Flickr, simply stunning! Well done! Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Not sure on the large door- it's well done, just a little too big. However, other than that, it's a fantastic build, love that wall texturing, the windows and the story! Quote
Khorne Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Love the texturing on the walls! I second Vladivus' thoughts on the big door, though. The big smooth surface kind of looks out of place next to the textured walls. Also, those swords are kind of big to be hinges. Still, awesome build overall . Quote
Yzalirk Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Very nice build, vitreolum! I agree with LV on the door, it looks too big but if you extended the width, it could have looked a bit better with the size. I also really like the guard's uniform, it's very simple but looks awesome! At this rate, I'm surprised you aren't a MOC Expert yet! Quote
vitreolum Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Thanks! Indeed, the door is quite big, almost looks like a weird garage door due to the placement of tiles . :)) The idea was to build a city gate initially, hence the huge door, but it turned out too much as a building, I had to keep the door that way as I ran out of parts to texture the walls and adding a smooth surface around it would have been worse. -Carson Haupt- Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Very nice! The textures and details like the arches near the bottom are great! Quote
mccoyed Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Those walls are great. I don't know how you always manage to find such exquisite piece-use to tailor familiar techniques to your own style, but it's a delight seeing it in your builds. The only thing I think doesn't work in this one is that gray radar dish as a pathstone. It doesn't fit. Quote
Hammerhand Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Great build vitreolum! The walls look perfect, like they've weathered many sand storms. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Probably my favorite from you. Not sure - this guy is doing so many great MOCs. First time I've seen the medieval "four-legs-window" in the color of tan. Fits in well. Quote
Kai NRG Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Great job on the texturing of the wall, the lit up window is a really nice touch as well! As others have said the door is a tad big, but the posing of the minifigures is spot on! Quote
Garmadon Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Excellent texturing on the walls, vitreolum, I really like the fig posing, especially with the guard looking away, and lit up window Awesome kaliphlinian landscaping and tree as well Quote
soccerkid6 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Superb texturing, the hinge plates work well here The palm tree and 'stepping' layout look amazing too Quote
Gunman Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 That texturing on the walls is so cute :) Quote
SarahJoy Posted November 23, 2014 Posted November 23, 2014 Brilliant build. I especially like the use of the hinges as wall texture. Quote
MassEditor Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Gorgeous build as always V! The texturing is brilliant, and the lighted window is a fantastic touch. I'd love to see a Nocty build from you. Quote
LordDan Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 Cool build, I love the variety of the texturing and how you built this section of the wall diagonal instead of strait! Quote
StickFig Posted November 29, 2014 Posted November 29, 2014 +1 UoP DoH for wall technique 3 life in Kaliphlin For the sand dunes, I don't think this is really "dunes," per se. This is a great MOC though! Loving the walls! Quote
