All in the Reflexes Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 (edited) Ok so im in the process of bricklinking the 10030 Star Destroyer but wanted to show the mods im planning on doing. As awesome as the original is i was always a bit disappointed in some of the details and greebling, anyway, enough talking and on to the pics. Hopefully the touch ups are noticeable but not enough to be in your face, all the greebling was redone, front of bridge reshaped, entire engine area redone and a few things changed and added. **LDD file in post #20** Edited May 28, 2015 by All in the Reflexes Quote
GuyDudeMan27 Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Looks nice! I'm a sucker for extra greebling, so this is right up my alley. I can't wait to see this done. Quote
Schneeds Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I'll have to post some pictures of my redone bridge; you might like some of the styling ques. I overhauled it in the spirit of Jerac's masterpiece and even in this scale it looks amazing. Quote
All in the Reflexes Posted May 16, 2015 Author Posted May 16, 2015 Post away Schneeds, love to see it :) Quote
Lobot Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 That's very impressive, All in the Reflexes, well done! It's a shame that some of the parts in the 10030 are so rare, otherwise I'd love to build one. You've made some great improvements to the original, and it's how I'd expect a new version to look (e.g. crammed with greebling!). The engines are particularly impressive, and the little Falcon is really cute! Quote
TheRacker Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 This is fantastic! Does it still use magnets or did you find a different solution? Quote
H_Solo Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 That looks really spot on! Perfect work... I love the new engine area! I'm sooo tempted to tackle this one as well anytime this year... Any chance to get the hands on you LDD-file? ;-) Quote
neoconagenda Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 I love that you engineered out the bulk of the rare parts, which should not be rare in the first place - There is no longer a need for small gray levers says the man from Lego... Quote
Rishab N Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 I like all the extra greebling. Its also great how you got rid of the rare parts Quote
Wodanis Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 I think your version is actually better than the original. Can't wait to see it in the brick! Any interior? Quote
Lego Fett Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 Totally awesome! But it looks a bit too big for an UCS. How many pieeces? Quote
Schneeds Posted May 17, 2015 Posted May 17, 2015 (edited) Here's my current bridge. Again, a lot of the ideas were taken from Jerac's masterpiece. http://i60.tinypic.com/k535s8.jpg http://i62.tinypic.com/kamryb.jpg I like what you did with the top of the bridge. I debated using the 1x1 clips as well to get that look but thought it might look too thick. Looks good on yours though, I might try it. Edited May 17, 2015 by Schneeds Quote
Phoib Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Is there already an alternative for the two sensor domes/deflector shield generators? Quote
All in the Reflexes Posted May 18, 2015 Author Posted May 18, 2015 Thanks for the comments guys :) @Schneeds - Thats excellent, i might steal a few ideas from that if thats ok? @H_Solo - Will post up the LDD file tomorrow for anyone who wants it, just not near my comp at the moment :) Also working on some simple mechanism so the magnets arent needed, will update when i have it working. Chills Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Great job! Like the others, I like the extra greebling. I also like the added details on the hull plates. Since you're upgrading the original UCS set, I would recommend that you adjust the 2nd level of the superstructure. TLG made it the same width (looking at the ship from the front) as the 3rd level, whereas the 3rd level should be less wide, giving it the wedding-cake tiered look. Does that make sense? Quote
Schneeds Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 Steal away! I'm already planning some modifications. Quote
took9 Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 (edited) Wow, so many good ideas, so many things to improve. I finished my rebrick a few weeks ago with a closed gap. Edited May 18, 2015 by took9 Quote
ecmo47 Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 Looks great! The only thing that bothers me is that the shield generator domes are perpendicular with the slope of the bridge instead of standing straight up. I think this could be easily solved with some combination of hinge pieces. Quote
All in the Reflexes Posted May 19, 2015 Author Posted May 19, 2015 (edited) Ok as promised, LDD file, have at it guys :) MOD 10030 @took9 - Thats great, did you move the side plates out one stud to fit it or kinda force it in the center? Edited May 19, 2015 by All in the Reflexes Quote
LiLmeFromDaFuture Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Modifications are phenomenal—love that tremendous greebling rework—giant 2573 wheel EAT YOUR HEART OUT Quote
Azrielsc Posted May 21, 2015 Posted May 21, 2015 Very nice! Instead of hunting for a 10030, I could go down this route instead! Much thanks for sharing! Quote
Legocity2713 Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Oh wow! I love it. Great job my friend. Quote
took9 Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 To close the gap, I think it's necessary to keep it all in one level - no hanging nose. So another base is needed at the front. It's also possible to lift the deck in the middle by a millimeter if needed. I fixed the 1'er plates at three points. https://flic.kr/p/sFk7Bm https://flic.kr/p/tA1PjL Album: https://www.flickr.c...6124@N04/12g1d8 Quote
