Man with a hat Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 I got the Emerald Night some time ago and really wanted more cars. However when I saw the 7 wide version of brickzone and the 48 long cars of Cooper it got me thinking. I started designing in LDD using some of there ideas and here is the result: I tried to make something of the underside The inside interior is very similar to the cars of Cooper. This is the first class version. Perhaps I will make other versions some time later. For those interested here is also the LDD-file. en_mod_pax_car_1st_class_7w_52l.lxf The train wheel are missing now after the recent update of LDD (hopefully they will come back) and the two tubes on top are actually two 21 stud long ones but that was not available in LDD. And of course comments are more than welcome. Quote
harnbak Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 (edited) Good job! I really like "your underside" - very inventive and realistic! How about the length? How does it deal with curves? BTW - excellent pictures! Edited September 7, 2011 by harnbak Quote

BTW - excellent pictures! Thank you. Concerning the curves: It does have a lot of hang over in the corners. However points/swiches are not a problem. I was a bit worried about that myself and I do think this is as long as you can practically build it. But my motorized Emerald night doesn't have any problems pulling it. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Very nice, I do agree that 7 stud wide is the way to go. I also like the underneath details you have added. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 This is an outstanding MOD! The passenger car looks really good, I love the inner luxury, this is the exlusive kind of place I would like to make my journey! Well done and thanks for sharing! Quote
harnbak Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 BTW: have you seen some of the other Emerald MODs? Eg: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41596 Quote
Toastie Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Dear Man with a Hat, However points/switches are not a problem. I was a bit worried about that myself and I do think this is as long as you can practically build it. do you have a photograph or could you take one that shows the hang over on switches? I am currently motorizing my switch points in different ways (PF, mini motor, old style 9V motor MicroScouts and what not), and hangover is a serious problem (e.g. the Mask container things do interfere considerably with my first generation switch drives ... ... but your cars are beautiful. They very well match the original coach sizes. All the best, Thorsten Quote
pdxbricks Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Great work!! Could you also post a pic of EN with the coach? Quote
LegoSjaak Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 You did a great job, especially the stuff you put underneath.. Sometimes this location was forgotten bij designs... The 3677 red cargotrain engine, for example, has a really poor design between its trainwheels... I changed that myselves! Greets, LegoSjaak Quote
Man with a hat Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 My apologioes for the late reply. It has been a busy week. BTW: have you seen some of the other Emerald MODs? Eg: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=41596 No I didn't see this one before. But this one looks great. Are you trying to make me jealous? do you have a photograph or could you take one that shows the hang over on switches? ... ... but your cars are beautiful. They very well match the original coach sizes. Thank you. Yes I have pictures of hang overs on switches: More pictures can be found on my Brickshelf (when moderated). No problems negotiating switches, even on the 7996 Double Crossover Track. Great work!! Could you also post a pic of EN with the coach? Thank you. I really enjoyed doing this part since I haven't seen something similar. For the other parts it seems difficult to not unintentially copy something from someone else. And I totally agree with you on the 3677. Quote
