SirScottLego Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 16b Ahoy, As you can see this has been an extremely busy month with new minifigs and decals. I also made an attempt at my version of Queen Anne's Revenge (Blackbeard's ship). This ship is one of the largest I have made, in that I used four hull sections, and it has three decks. With a couple of custom stickers this ship has quite a bit more detail than others I have created. Perhaps the features that I am most proud of are, a cabin that is removable for playability. Under the cabin is a storage hold. On the second deck you can remove the stairs to reveal the first deck and the cannons therein... The bow has some strong detail and I hope I've bettered the positioning of the masts. I hope to post the photo I used for inspiration but it is copyrighted in a book. You may notice some electrical tape on the bow that needs to be removed. This is an excellent way to "color" the hulls but I ended up feeling it made the ship too black... Feel free to critic... and enjoy. The complete brickshelf gallery can be found at: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=208519 (Moderators please feel free to resize photos.) Quote
EXO-CHAMP Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 I'll leave the critic to those who knows better and just enjoy it. It's a beautiful ship. Just the right amount of cannons and the colours look great. Great job. Quote
Norro Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 Very nice. This ship has a scale that is much more 'piratical' than many of the vessels in the lego waters... I like all your decorations, the way they continue in the spirit of the BSB is very nice! Thanks for sharing and God Bless, Nathan Quote
Scouty Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 Ah, I've just seen this a few hours ago. I like the cabin and the front of the ship. Also nice place on the back for the name. Though one thing i ponder is that black stripe in the front hole. I've never seen anything like it. Was it painted or was it already like that? The canons are great( where they are I mean). The front railing is what i like best in this moc. However, their could be a walkway on the top deck. Unless you did not want one for what ever reason. I like the colors, alot. Just a rudder is needed. Great job on the ship! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 As you can see this has been an extremely busy month with new minifigs and decals. I also made an attempt at my version of Queen Anne's Revenge (Blackbeard's ship). I've seen this stern in another thread and and as usual I can't remember which one! But I do believe I had some rather positive things to say about it. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted October 4, 2006 Eurobricks Emperor Posted October 4, 2006 Looks great. I like to overall look of the ship, the line and the colors. The stern is really perfect. This is the best part of the ship. I have seen the use of elektrical tape before (we initialy thought is was paint) in this thread. It still needs a crew of those cool pirates you created... Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 I only needed to see the first picture of this galleons stern to let me say wow! I love it! Brilliant! You did a good job on the positioning of masts this time, but maybe higher would be better. You said it has three decks, that seems big to me, do you have any interior pics of it?? The bow looks really great, about the tape, it should be a high as 1 brick, this looks like 2 bricks. The ship really looks like a pirate ship! It inspires me to build a big pirate ship like this, now it's time to go to bricklink ;-) How did you made the name of the ship? Obvoiusly a sticker. May I ask you for a favor? Could you make me a sticker like that with Acheron on it??? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 Ok Sir Scott, spill the beans... How'd you manage to create the customs? Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 Mr Norro it appears you've quoted some users but appear to have forgotten to write anything! Was this intentional to reiterate some previous points, or did you accidentally hit the button without writing anything? Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 The first quote is a question and the other one is the answer... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 Ok, its definitely time for me to go to bed. This is a big DUH moment. Quote
SirScottLego Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 Thank you for all the positive comments. I can't believe I forgot a rudder! Thanks for noticing... MisterPhes if you saw this stern in another thread please share... this is all original and hasn't been released only on this board. MrTiber I would be happy to make you a name plate for your ship...it may take me alittle time since I am in the middle of some other projects. The secrets... the stickers were made in Photoshop and printed on the same sheet as all my torsos. The stern detail above the windows were created by modifying some photos I found on a google image search of sterns. I'll try to get some interior shots over this next weekend. Just a note about the electrical tape. Yes that is what is on the bow hull. I placed it on the hull before I placed some peices in so it's become difficult to remove... and well I'm lazy but it does need to be removed. This is one of the photos I used for inspiration btw... Quote
Norro Posted October 4, 2006 Posted October 4, 2006 This is one of the photos I used for inspiration btw... I'm not a pirate fanatic, but something about that image is very inspiring/interesting... Where did you find it? God Bless, Nathan Quote
SirScottLego Posted October 4, 2006 Author Posted October 4, 2006 I think I found it on "photobucket.com" when I did a search for pirate ships. I have so many ship images on my computer I can't remember where I got this one... Some people collect porn, I collect ship photos. :) For all the kids reading this post I meant corn... some people like to collect different kinds of corn... to eat... and to... plant, ya to eat and to plant. Governor Mister Phes Posted October 4, 2006 Governor Posted October 4, 2006 Do you like popcorn Sir Scott? Did you find the "Revenge" text on photobuck.com too? Exactly how many ship photos do you have? Maybe you could post relevant pictures in the Great Library one day when you've got some spare time. Quote
SirScottLego Posted October 5, 2006 Author Posted October 5, 2006 My wife would kill me if she found me with popcorn. hee hee hee The Revenge stickers are all my own creations. As for the photos. I have quite a few ships and colonial village photos I've plundered from research on the internet. I just don't know where I got them all so I'm skeptical of posting without reference. I mean I'm a pirate but I don't feel comfortable pirating... Quote
El Bucanero Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 SirScott, considering you're back, I'd like to ask you something about this ship. Is this ship still seaworthy? If so, have you been building with it lately? If you haven't done it, but if you're planning to do, I think you should make the masts a bit higher, so another sail could be added to each mast. It's good yer back mate! Mr Tiber Quote
oDDerFisken Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 Very nice ship indeed! I especially like back of the shop. Looks very cool. I i'm also very fond of the way you have made it a 3 decker *y* Keep up the good work Quote
Paladin Posted June 7, 2007 Posted June 7, 2007 (edited) I really like this! A very nice variant on the BSB design and theme. The details are very nice. I like the reversed 1x1 plates used on the forecastle, and of course the internals of the stern cabin. I really like the sails and the custom decals, they look wonderful. It looks like a late 16th or early 17th century English war galleon (a little bit sleeker than what I would call Spanish...a "race built" if you wish although the stern is a bit tall for that moniker). At first I wondered if you choose the name "Revenge" from Sir Francis Drake's famous ship, however from the authentic pirate flag and actually reading your post I see that this is clearly a bow to Blackbeard's Queen Anne's Revenge *sweet* Very cool! SirScottLego Posted June 7, 2007 Author Posted June 7, 2007 Currently the ship is in a storage. But I hope to have it in my hobby room ASAP, and your suggestions Mr. Tiber are right on, the ship needs taller masts. Any resemblence to the BSB is accidental, in that I buildt from the ground up using a print of Blackbeards Queen Anne's Revenge. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Quote
ZCerberus Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 (edited) Any resemblence to the BSB is accidental, in that I buildt from the ground up using a print of Blackbeards Queen Anne's Revenge. Ahh!! I thought it was indeed Teach's ship that inspired you! I wonder this in your 'customs' post! Why has no mention the ACTUAL Blackbeard Jolly Roger you are flying? Very nice! indeed! Here it is so you need not flip back a page! It also appears you have use a thin foam or sorts for the sails, they also look quite excellent! You better get the ship out of storage ASAP! We need a few pirate-y pirate vessels around here after all! Anyhow, nice ship! Edited June 9, 2007 by ZCerberus Quote
Captain Thorradan Ap Dugal Posted June 11, 2007 Posted June 11, 2007 (edited) Revenge has got 40 canoons! Just joke but its real. It looks just like remake of BSB with more canoons. :-/ Edited June 13, 2007 by Captain Thorradan Ap Dugal Quote
Capn Frank Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 (edited) ...Why has no mention the ACTUAL Blackbeard Jolly Roger you are flying? Very nice! indeed! ... I was thinking the same thing Z! :-D After all check out me signature. ;-) Sirscottlego, Is this a version of the Queen Anne's Revenge, or is this a ship just called the revenge?
