CopMike Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 From yesterdays Brickjournal: Pictures linked from Brickjournal! I think it´s very cool and well earned, Adams big models are so great and his small ones rocks ! I bought one of each at Brickworld! CopMike Quote
Hinckley Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 This is pretty amazing that they are doing this. They kind of announced it at BrickWorld and no one made a big deal about. I wonder what other structures will be produced. I couldn't be happier that they started with Chicago landmarks! If you guys haven't seen all of Adam's large scale stuff, check it out by clicking this picture: Quote
WhiteFang Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Thanks for sharing! Adam Tucker's model are really impressive and amazing! I had read some of their works in BrickStructure and it is really very very outstanding. I am glad TLG is starting up LEGO Architecture models that revolved around building bricks with landmarks that we are familar with. Quote
maiq the liar Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 i live in a suburb of chicago, so i'm required by law to buy that. Quote
Pencoin Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I am glad TLG is starting up LEGO Architecture models that revolved around building bricks with landmarks that we are familar with. not all of us looks nice anyway glad TLC aint just chruing out the same old stuff Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 (edited) Indeed, I have seen some of his architecture. Is this going to be released on S@H? EDIT: *facepalm* Never mind the above comment. Edited July 17, 2008 by Lt. Col. Thok Quote
Shoc Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 (edited) I am glad TLG is starting up LEGO Architecture models that revolved around building bricks with landmarks that we are familar with. not all of us Yeeeeah, I had to do a Google search to see what it actually was. I don't really know of that many American skyscrapers... It looks interesting, if simple, though. Presumably it will be available to buy? Edit: Ah, I just read... LEGO Architecture models can be found at specialty stores in the Chicago area including Love from Chicago at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg and Yorktown Center in Lombard, The Chicago Architecture Foundation Shop and in gift shops at the Sears Tower and John Hancock Center. For more information and a complete list of retail locations, visit www.brickstructures.com Meh... :skull: Edited July 16, 2008 by Shoc Quote
Quarryman Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Very interesting, I guess I must buy these. (the John Hancock Center being the only skyscraper I've visited, Sears Tower was closed when I visited Chicago ) Quote
JimBee Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Awesome, I love these! They should only be about $10, considering the piece count, but they'll probably be around $20 because they are only in the gift shops... :hmpf_bad. Chicago isn't far from Milwaukee, and I might be going to Schaumberg soon, but if TLG wants to make real money off of these, they should widely release them. I guess that's not the aim of it (the aim is presumably to get kids fascinated into architecture and the sights themselves), but still, they look so awesome, and not everyone lives so close/ in Illinois. Also, I'm glad TLG went away from the traditional box art, and made a clean, modern black, with no art on it except the model itself. While I enjoy box art, this is a very nice change of pace. Good going, Lego! And of course, Adam's models are awesome, so congratulations to him! Now, where are the instructions to these two sets?! Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I can see myself investing in these. The first set has 69 pieces so I reckon it's gonna be priced less than £15. A nice little model to have on display! Quote
The Rancor Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Am I the only one who doesn't think these sets look any different even though they are different places? I've never heard of those places and only the fact that there was an architect somewhere called Adam Tucker. WILL NOT BUY Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 The Gherkin tower would be interesting if it was sold by TLG. As for the current sets I like them, a good opportunity to start a mini city, their must be many combinations of towers that can be made with those bricks. Quote

WILL NOT BUY Well you have of course the freedom of thinking/saying what you want about these sets ....... but ......* If you never heard about the Sears Tower or the John Hancock Center, and haven´t bothered to google them, or read the article about Adam and what he has accomplished, or that he made those sets and have had LEGO to launch them........ Well I wouldn´t be the one kind of trash talking about them/him until I myself had made something like that ! And that´s only MY own opinion .......! CopMike Quote
Eilif Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I can understand folks not knowing about the John Hancock building, but the Sears Tower was the tallest building in the world for a long time, and had the highest inhabited floor for sometime after that. I will be looking forward to hopefully seeing more international buildings in the future, however. Quote
JimBee Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Its just a bunch of black bricks. Steve True, and the boxes make them seem so much more awesome then they really are. But, very cool, and CopMike, do the models have their own special base, or just a black plate? Also, is it okay if instructions go online? They do for all of the other sets, but maybe these are special... I would very much like to build this. Quote
Ctrl+Alt+Esc Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 This is what I thought i saw. This is what I saw. I bet the price of this abomination is in the region of £100 Quote
simonjedi Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Its just a bunch of black bricks. this^ Adams stuff is very impressive but i'm passing on these sets, they don't really interest me. Quote
highlandcattle Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Its just a bunch of black bricks. Steve Seconded Quote
hamilton Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 and 10182 'Cafe Corner' is just a bunch of colored bricks.... Quote

Certain other members are in that frame of mind I appreciate that others like these sets, and I should not influence their ('whoever's reading this post's') thoughts. Quote
sam89 Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Its just a bunch of black bricks. Steve I'm afraid I have to agree with this. Quote
Athos Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 and 10182 'Cafe Corner' is just a bunch of colored bricks.... OK. And this pile of black bricks assembles into a small little tower of black bricks. The models are a not of sufficient scale to be impressive to me. Steve Quote
Holodoc Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Its just a bunch of black bricks. Seconded I'm afraid I have to agree with this. Yep, my thoughts as well! 69 black bricks - come on. The background is astonishing: TLC is working with an AFOL to produce a whole new line. Adam Reed Tucker deserved it, no question. But very interesting, if not annoying, to see that TLC again produces for a rather small market. Is this the new "Maersk"-line with other label on it? They are selling this set in little shops in a local area only. How succesful can this set be? Sorry for all you Americans close to Chicago: I´m not familiar with your skyscrapers and I don´t care for these sets. And I doubt the architecture line will produce nice sets in that scale besides skyscrapers. Quote
