WesternOutlaw Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I visited a FAO Schwartz toy store today and found yet another new line of American West / Wild West toys. Schleich, which many of the European EB members may recognize as it is a German producing company of mini figures and accessories, has a new theme called American Frontier. Here is a sample of some of the pieces that I saw in the store and are available through toy stores that cary Schleich. I don't believe the wagon is available yet. I've always enjoyed looking at Schleich pieces but never purchased any. I may buy these as they are nicely detailed and painted, and nice replicas of American Frontier history. As I look at these, I can't help to wonder that there must still be a market for Wild West toys, even in Europe. Lego should "hop on the wagon", and design a new WW theme. Quote
Siegfried Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 I saw a few of these in a K-Mart in Australia last week while I was drooling over the MTT. They were on sale (half price) so perhaps that answers your question. On the other hand, all they had there was the tent and the totem, no figures, so it is possilble that the others sold out. (Or K-Mart could have been stupid and just ordered the tent and totem.) Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 Here in the US, only finer (higher quality) toy stores cary Schleich; with the exception of Target, which seldom has them on sale, only clearance. Usually, stock is very limited when they go on clearance. In fact, I think Target just started carrying them in the last year (or two at the most). I'm really surprised Kmart in Australia carries them. Quote
Siegfried Posted July 6, 2007 Posted July 6, 2007 I'm really surprised Kmart in Australia carries them. Well, K-Mart in Australia, just like Target in Australia, has no links to the US stores beyond the name so they probably don't work the same way. Australia doesn't have a strong toy store brand IMHO. ToyWorld used to be good, but they don't seem to try that hard anymore, and Toys R Us haven't got enough stores, although they are growing. They still do get the occasional exclusive though which I find annoying as there are no stores in my state. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted July 7, 2007 Author Posted July 7, 2007 Two of the Schleich Western sets that I really like are the wagon and the Indian in Canoe. The detail of all of these sets are really nice. I was checking Target's web site and they have them. I'm hoping their retail stores will carry them as well, so I can pick up one piece at a time until I have the entire collection. These would make a nice diorama. I've been wanting do make one for a long time - canyon/mountain, river scene, etc. I don't have the pieces in Lego to build a scene large enough to make it look impressive. Quote
zouave Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Yes I always wondered why Lego didn't make a theme like this. I imagined something like this a few years back. I called it ''Forest Frontier''. X-D (I thought it sounded catchy.) However I created everything in my head. It's all lost in file in my brain somewhere. Quote
SWMAN Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Lego probably feels that it was not a strong enough set to rerelease. They feel that there are better new themes that they can produce, that will cater to a new group of builders. Quote

Or you could sketch them *y* Anywhos, those look pretty cool! Did you manage to see if they had one for Pirates or the Royal Navy? 8-| While I was the World Polivion at Walt Disney World Resort's Epcot, I saw some of these in the toy shop in the German polivian. Though, they were all Knights, granted, but still the same brand. Quote
