I got my 8258 Crane Truck last week and spend the whole Saturday building it. When I opened the box which is still sealed and new I noticed that there is this "smiling" face stamp inside of the box. Has anyone gotten this before? Is it normal for Lego boxes to have this? Just curious. :classic:

I have over 20 boxes opened boxes for all my Star Wars sets, I'll look inside them when I get home and let you know.

Interesting.

Could it be some sort of quality control stamp? Smiley face for a good box and ready to pack? Maybe the reject boxes get a sad face? Or someone got bored at the factory and is playing around with stamps?

Maybe you got a first box in a set and they stamped it to give the whole line the OK.

I do like the idea of it being some bored worker.

Are you sure it wasn't on your carpet before you opened the box and you just didn't notice it before?

What you could try and do is email lego asking them about this to see if they know the answer :classic:

I gotta say the face on that stamp has a really obnoxious smug feeling to it.

The first time I saw this smiley face stamp was back in 2004, after opening Millenium Falcon 4504. There was this smiley face in the middle of the box. Needless to say, my feelings at that moment were absolutely reflected by the smiley face.

I've seen it again in one of my indiana jones boxes from summer 2008, can't remember which though.

I think it could be just a happy LEGO employee joking around, trying to have a little fun, as it seems to randomly appear in boxes of many different themes.

Was it completely the same as this one in 8258 Crane Truck?

:oh: Dear lord, this is why we have 18 plus warnings before you register!

Regarding the smiley face, I can't say I've ever come accross it before, but I've also only ever opened my sets from the side. Still, very interesting, and I'll be sure to ask next time I speak with someone who might be able to answer (designer, box worker  ) for 'Behind The Helm'.

:look: The image doesn't work, and the site wants me to "Check out Lonely Wives in your Area". Are you trying to tell me something?

Yes, I'm trying to tell you that even after 168 years on the internet, I still can't tell when that will happen because I'm too lazy to mirror a 2k file.
