obijon Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Hi again everyone. I hope you all had a good Christmas and New Year. I managed to pick up the First Order Snowspeeder Microfighter over the New Year in our local Sainsburys. I thought with a little modification it could be turned in to a nice little MINI model. http://brickset.com/...der-Snowspeeder I wouldn’t go as far as saying this turned in to a complete rebuild but not far from it. There are a few parts of the build that have remained the same; the nose section (although lengthened by a couple of plates), the basic shape and the vents at the back. The rest has been completely rebuilt so the Microfighter was basically a template. The seats have been redone so the black slope pieces are vertical, the gun replaced, I have removed most of what was underneath and the engines are a completely new build as they were just too big. I have also added the fins (or wings) to the engines. It would have been so easy for the designer to add these to the brackets on the original Microfighter’s engines. Did they forget to put the pieces on or did they run out of budget on the piece count? ;-) Anyway here is the model: http://www.brickshel...nowspeeder1.jpg http://www.brickshel...nowspeeder2.jpg http://www.brickshel...nowspeeder3.jpg http://www.brickshel...nowspeeder4.jpg http://www.brickshel...nowspeeder5.jpg And with the First Order Snowtrooper which comes with the set on display a la Planets: http://www.brickshel...ederdisplay.jpg Let me know what you think Jon Quote
jdm44 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I thought LEGO did a good job with this microfighter (unlike the regular version) but you definitely topped it. Looks awesome. Quote
obijon Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 thanks again. That's the fun of lego. If you are not happy with the lego version you can change it! Quote
